      @@tnt9126 Pirlo was a 10 to start with, he was converted into a deep player.. he could do both. However, Scholes is my pick. In his time there was Seedorf, Gerrard, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Alonso, Keane, Modric, Viera and many many more. Having seen all those players play I wouldn't say any were better than Scholes. He gave the ball away two or three times in a game towards the end of his career at Utd and it was surreal, after 15 or so years at the club I'd never seen it happen.

    You could literally place a coin in the opposition penalty area and Scholes would be able to flip it from inside his own half the way he pinged the ball.He was the best passer of a football I ever seen. The weight,range and spin off the ball was sublime,always landing at his teammates feet. It was unbelievable how good he was at passing whereas other players could train and still not even think of pulling it off.The most elegant and intelligent player. It literally was like watching an artist paint a masterpiece.I remember when Ronaldo once told a story about how he was showing off in training so Scholes asked Ronaldo to hit a tree from 50 yards. He tried over 20 times and couldn't hit it. Scholes picked the ball up 1st time and hit the tree. He walked away and smiled.

    Toni Kroos is an excellent passer but he still can’t surpass the greatness of Alonso. Alonso’s passes were risky, edgy, forward, dangerous and insanely accurate to your preferred foot. Kroos’s passes are ridiculously accurate too, but most of them are mellow horizontal passes.

    • @aakashdeep2298
      @aakashdeep2298 Před 3 lety +2

      Kroos is in top 5 progressor by passing from many years. I don't know if u've seen his passes but if a forward makes runs he delivers the ball straight to his feet. He's created more chances than any other CM in past few years. Infact compare Xabi Alonso's seasons in Bayern to Kroos's in RM in same time period Kroos has created double the chances while having 20% more long pass accuracy. Doing long passes for sake of it isn't being great but doing them when u see a fault in defensive line is. So he's already surpassed Xabi Alonso.
      About his horizontal passes, they aren't horizontal but diagonal to wings to take the sting out of opposition press and eventually give forwards more time on ball or create gaps in centre.

    • @2sunami
      @2sunami Před 3 lety +4

      @@aakashdeep2298 when Alonso moved to Bayern it was at the end of his career after his best days have passed. You can’t compare Bayern Alonso to prime Kroos. You are comparing Alonso’s worst days with Kroos’s best days.
      Alonso used to take more risks when passing vertical passes. Kroos, not so much. Most of the time he plays it safe and not too daring when passing vertically. We’ve seen the best version of Alonso in the 2012 season.

      @aakashdeep2298 Před 3 lety +1

      @@2sunami Well I can't do anything if stats only started becoming available after 2014. And Xabi controlled Bayern like his peak years, Pep wouldn't play him if he wasn't performing at world class level, he's pushing out Aguero and did the same to David Silva, but kept Xabi Alonso. U can take as many risks as u want but unless there's an opening it's a wasted ball. Look at Xavi, put it a ball when there was an opening, never forced a pass. Better to play it like Xavi & Kroos, overload 1 side and play a diagonal to open wing and cross from there or do a 1-2 and create chance. There's a big reason why RM has been so successful with Kroos, and Barca with Xavi, coz they rarely ever gave a bad ball, every pass is tactical & meaningful rather than risky & hopeful.

    • @2sunami
      @2sunami Před 3 lety +8

      @@aakashdeep2298 You are talking as if Alonso was some amateur player and passer. Alonso was a key player in the 2010 Spanish national team that won the world cup and two Euros and his passes were pin point to the teeth and all his passes were critical and meaningful. In fact, Real Madrid won La Decima before Kroos’s arrival and Xabi Alonso was the maestro of that team. I remember in those days, alarm bells would ring in Real Madrid if Alonso was injured, because he was the balance point of the whole team and without him, the team had a very hard time.
      They play two different positions anyway and this is borderline comparing apples and oranges. Alonso is a defensive midfielder and Kroos is a left centre midfielder.
      Alonso has superior deep playmaking abilities and that’s a fact.
      Alonso is superior defensively and that’s a fact.
      Alonso had superior long ball passes and that’s a fact.
      They are somewhat equal in their ball possession abilities.
      And talking about Alonso’s Bayerns days, yes Guardiola depended on him a lot. And that was Alonso in his decline and way passed his prime, but his quality and class was still present. So can you imagine how good prime Alonso was? He was 10 times better than Bayern Alonso.

    • @aakashdeep2298
      @aakashdeep2298 Před 3 lety +2

      @@2sunami I never said he was some amateur, he was one of the best holding mids. His long balls were very good. Ur judgement is way too clouded to even have this discussion. Kroos has surpassed Xabi Alonso in long balls, creativity, and in ball possession. He's creating much more chances than another DLP, e.g Thiago even before this season.
      And no they don't play very different positions, makes me think u've never seen Kroos. Kroos drops back with CB to make a back 3 with Casemiro as DM or makes a double pivot with Modric while Casemiro moves up. Kroos makes most of his plays from deeper positions like Xabi. Did u see Liverpool 1st leg, that's his usual position, as deep as a DMF. It's easy to say LCM, but he's a regista not a box to box or an advanced CM.

    I have read alot of comments
    But I will give the most accurate analysis.
    If you watch xabi long passes he hits them from a more free , relaxed position because he plays as a deep play maker or cdm , which gives him more space to hit to any direction he wants , paul scholes is more of a box to box or even say an attacking midfielder so hitting from Paul position makes it more difficult because if you not good with the measurements you might over hit it but dude still gets it so accurate, so from overall analysis I think paul is much better in the long pass shit because he is always on press or pressure when he does and he does hits it accurately while xabi is more free and alone when he hits it and he does it from a deeper role meaning he will hardly over hit it since is coming from a deeper position but Paul almost half the pitch when he does hit it and he still gets his target , paul is better

    Alonso's pass has much more weight as we see in the video, but I think it appears that way mainly because of the playing style of the team and the opponent's defender. Passes like Alonso is much more effective in Spain where defender play in a very discipline manner, they mark their area instead of going hard one on one like in England.
    Scholes passes are not as much weight since he needs to release the ball really fast (go and check the video again) once he see the opening.

      Both are awesome. But the target is not the same ;) Pirlo = in a position of defensive midfielder, he makes long-pass over the defense, the ball goes directly to the striker --> vertical game. X. Alonso = he moves back almost in a central defender position, makes a very long-pass which goes to the wingers --> enlarge the game. That's why Pirlo has done more decisive passes in his carrer, but X. Alonso's ones are even more longer. Btw, both of them are so much skilled, that the difference of long-pass quality between X. Alonso and Pirlo (and Scholes too!) is imperceptible.

    Xabi put a lot of back spin to the ball. The ball float up high but where ever the ball drop it like literally just stop there. Its rare a technique thus made xabi a unique player

  • @zoobafornow
    @zoobafornow Před 3 lety +2

    Scholes' passes are weighted in the beginning and falling down slowly when they get to the receiving player, which makes it easier for them to control the ball. I think he's a bit more classy than Xabi Alonso. However, Alonso does have a better defensive capability and he should be regarded as one of the greats going down the history.
