God i hope this gets an HD remake and the sequel it deserves
I hope it does because the trilogy wasn't that great
@@rogerarteaga2665 1 was good but had almost no gameplay music, 2 was trash, and 3 was amazing
Sadly it probably never will😭
@@heropontorchic1979 Yes...that's universally known which is why it was a trainwreck of a series.
@@rogerarteaga2665 Isn't 2 why there were only 3 games instead of 6
Well, who's here after the ending of Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed?
Is this true that blue flickering light is KOS-MOS?
im going to c
@@isaaclee8671 What??? But how could that be??
@@isaaclee8671 It’s not confirmed at all, BUT, there are a lot of things that make a good argument for it being KOS-MOS. I’m hoping it is.
They deliberately linger on it at the end after making explicit references to Saga. If it’s not her the only other thing I could think of is it’s the Elsa but it being her is really the simplest explanation since it lines up well with this ending.
Wow. One of the most emotional stories with emotional development of all characters since episode 1. They've all come such a long way since the morning cutscene where shion greeted kosmos, to this scene. It was amazing.
And during the ending credits, chaos's final words, the final words of the entire series, are "Goodnight... KOS-MOS". Such an amazing way to bring the story to a close and full circle and so fitting with the theme of the entire work "making peace with your past, finding closure and moving on".
By the way, I cried so much during Shion's goodbye scene with Jin and his subsequent death scene that I actually started to choke on my own tears I was sobbing so hard which totally shocked me. I've seen this many times before but was for some reason today I was extremely moved by it. Must have really needed to let that go whatever it was.
The whole trilogy was eh...and to be honest as cool as Jin was in going back and helping chaos it was quite unnecessary considering the context of the story that they'd still see each other again.
@@tinyguy9398 That's not really the whole context of the story but a small sliver of it
@@rogerarteaga2665 are you just making it your life mission to complain to everyone here?
Sad.
@@1slayer959 Not complain just laying facts
“What a splendid soul you were, Jin…”
So I‘m not the only one who thought that!
"you've given me so much"
that line always sticks with me... and the hug. Ouch. Throughout the whole series I was always really sad when Shion and Kos-mos were apart. I got spoiled a bit and I knew what kos-mos ver. 4 looked like. So even in episode 1, I knew kos-mos would be OK. But just seeing them part from each other hurts. The series ending here without a definite answer is so sad. But Kos-mos saying with certainty that they'll meet again makes me feel like I have to trust her with that.
After RE-watching Xenosaga 1, 2 & then 3, all along "Red-Eye" Kosmos actually have "human characteristics with a soul & personality" & not "machine characteristics".
As an audience, at first when I see Red-eye Kosmos, I thought only "no soul & no personality" machine side. Whereas Blue-eye Kosmos is her "soul/personality" human side. Turns out, after seeing how the story of Ep. 3 connects, we can see that Kosmos, whether "red-eye" or "blue-eye" either way is still have human characteristics with personality.
We also learned Kosmos knows how to keep her human side a secret & "keeping secrets" is definitely a human behavior than machine behavior.
That's what makes Kosmos so unique & my fav. character. Although machine, she is more human than machine & even more human than the other characters.
My god. Jin's farewell to Shion gets me everytime-
It still tears me the fuck up, not just because of the unbelievably emotional ending, not just because the series was meant to continue and never did, but also because the piano melody in the start of this scene was never released on the soundtrack, and even among so many unreleased peaces that people have managed to find, not one has recovered the music from the goodbye and escape scenes.
I’m pretty sure it’s a piano arrangement of “Sweet Song”
Till this day, there hasn't been a game that had such an emotional yet satisfying story
My beloved favorite never-ending series. If only BandaiNamco reconsiders remaking it, I will be playing the untill the very end again no problem. Love this series forever.
Jin had very inspirational words to say to Shion... R.I.P. Jin...
📻🌍🌍🌠🤯
Great ending, one of the best RPG stories ever, better than most final fantasy by a mile.
I wouldn't say so this story was quite cringe at times and was throwing things left and right that really was more convoluted than getting to the point. Its the same issue that had KH suffering
If only it wasn't supposed to be the end!
@@rogerarteaga2665 most japanese media have their cringe moments honestly.
21:04 I love how they just reference one of Wagner's greatest operas he wrote just for the hell of it lol makes the ship's name "Elsa" make a lot more sense tho ngl
Literally everything in xenosaga is a reference. Basically every name, symbol, etc. If you remember the three random unique Gnosis on cathedral ship, Perun, Svarog, and Stribog are Slavic gods of their respective elements in game. The titles are from Nietzsche. There are some random Gnosis in ep2 only found in one area named after the head Watchers in Kabbalic tradition that grant humanity knowledge of different skills/elements, and their Gnosis counterparts reflect that.
Even characters like Wilhelm are named after Wagner. If you're a giant mythology nerd, these games are a gold mine of references and allusions.
1:18 when they say, “I’ll see you soon.” it’s sad because they won’t… but it’s comforting to hear.
Or will they?
@@godzilla4189 if you’re referring to the afterlife
Or they will, in Xenogears and maybe they aren’t themselves, but they will see each other again.
I mean Matthew was Fei
Jin was Jin
It’s all a cycle, a beautiful one.
A story finally being told completely.
i'm still dispointed how they end this on a fucking cliffhanger and cut the saga .. .
God dammit .. .
How do you feel now?
"Honestly... that girl"
Out of all the crap that's been picked up by Netflix, how has this not been continued.
4:16 Jesus in the cross cleansing humanity's rampage and sin
The censorship really ruins the immersion in Jin's fight, he was stabbed twice and his clothe still looks perfectly clean, too unbelievable
Yeah, it makes such a powerful scene look goofy.
@@swordfish1390 Ah...really you need blood for it to show that he actually dies? It was fine stop nitpicking lol
@@rogerarteaga2665 How is it nitpicking? The scene was tailored around showing the blood, like when the sword plunges through Jin's back, the screen zooms up on the floor, since that's where the blood is supposed to be, but in the English version, all we see is.... the floor, it just looks goofy. All of the censorship makes scenes either confusing or sometimes even comical, it's absolutely not nitpicking.
@@swordfish1390 It is considering the context of him dying is still there and displayed with emotion. Having blood in this particular sequence doesn't make a difference to the context of the story when actions and emotions are portrayed which didn't seem all that comical. I can say the same if there was an overload of blood and gore included and that would've also have been comical. Also, the censorship to this game or series was like 5 very minor things and even then didn't take away the point or the context of the story.
I'm for one who doesn't give a shit about censorship unless it takes away completely from a character or a scene is just deleted completely but this is just....a few seconds of blood not shown that's it.
@@rogerarteaga2665 It doesn't destroy the game or anything, but it feels odd and I'm taken out of the experience when there is clearly supposed to be blood when there isn't. Like the scene in Miltia when young Shion cups her mother's blood in her hands, and when we see her holding her hands up, there isn't any blood, which makes the scene confusing.
The scene with the wings is so fucking amazing
Lol it was pretty cringe not going to lie typical anime trope
@@rogerarteaga2665 and whats yer beef?
Also, using subjective nothing words, like, "cringe."
NGL pretty cringe 😉
@@1slayer959 Sure how about I layout a whole thesaurus for you. It was cheesy, corny, unnecessary, added no rush or stakes to it after all that's happened etc. It was only there to be artsy that's all like every cheesy, cringe, corny, unnecessary trope in anime.
The context of KOS-MOS having wings etc I can see due to its symbolism but the fucking Elsa? what's next were going to have a pen with angel wings now?
@@rogerarteaga2665 cheesy, corny, unnecessary.
All empty words.
Heres one for you. Xenosaga often times plays with the idea of divine intervention.
This very well could have been that.
Never mind you jumping from an actual, arc to safty to a pen is dishonest.

@@1slayer959 LOL you're a moron who knows nothing about narratives or story. You seem to be so offended which makes me laugh stating empty words if you can't understand simple words or there definitions then fuck off lol
If you look closely enough at 17:39, then you can see that KOS-MOS still has both arms. :)
+Kodai Hime lol i didnt notice that xD they derped
I played this game while ago, the original Japanese version. I'm surprised that all the blood is removed in this version. It's kinda awkward. Stabbed with swords and no blood? I love this scene though.

God, I wish someone would rip the piano version of "Sweet Song" from this segment of the game. It's easily the best instrumental version
Laxanii still searching to this day :(
Still searching ;((

I'm still searching, too. Just heard they may port the Xenosaga trilogy to Switch and instantly thought about this piece of music. Do please let me know if you ever find it!

The Elsa is saved by both. Their powers combined in that moment. Read Episode III Database ;)
in my head shion and the gang find kos mos while they on they're journey and they fix her.... I need happy so ha I fixed it I win XD
Na minha opinião o melhor RPG do PS2. Muito FODA!!
Kos-Mos เปนนางเอกของเกมทั้ง 3 ภาคเลย น่ารักดี มีเวอร์ชั่นล่าสุดไว้สักตัวก็ดีเหมือนกันนะ 555
Guys, where can I find the piano piece that plays right at the start. It is so beautiful!!! T___T
All these years, and I still can't find a rip of that piano version of "Sweet Song." :(
I'm afraid that it's impossible to rip. In all of the cutscenes, music, sound effects and voices have been mixed down to a single audio track. It's just not possible to extract only the music from that. A few other tracks have also never been ripped for the same reason.
@@Helsionium I understand. But I can dream! Maybe someone can just do their own piano cover to be exactly like it is here. That'd be good enough for me. :)
21:34 how the fuck would that make a ship go faster
The power of Wagner, duh! He could have used his Tristan and Isolde warp drive setting but that would have probably tore the universe to shreds. Good thing he chose Lohengrin instead.
when i got to that part.. i cri. ;-;
Frack, the feels. T__T

TonyDaExpert I remember buying it the day it came out. was like it was yesterday
is that Fei and Elly?
+p0613v The characters are named Abel and Nephilim. The story of Xenosaga is not directly connected to Xenogears (for legal reasons), but it is often thought that Xenosaga is a re-imagining of Xenogears or part of the larger story ("Perfect Works"). Of course, there are several Xenosaga characters that strongly resemble Xenogears characters. Abel and Nephilim were definitely made to look just like Fei and Elly. They have different roles in the story, though.
The original idea was that Xenosaga and Xenogears would form part of a 6 episode saga. Xenosaga was supposed to follow the adventures of Shion and co. for Episode 1 and 2, then episode 3 and 4 would shift to another set of characters. The PS1 Xenogears was episode 5 (this is shown in the credits of the game), and a 6th episode to wrap all stories up was intended.
Due to Squaresoft diverting a large amount of funds from the Xenogears team to produce FFVIII plus a lot of other conflicts, the production team left and started their own company (Monolith). They created the Xenosaga series and intended to make a remasterization of episode 5 (Xenogears) when the time came, but Squaresoft refused to let go of the copyright rights. This together with executive meddling (which caused a lot of writers to leave midway through episode 2) ended up causing Saga to just be centered around the Shion and co. story and the connection between Gears and Saga never being made explicitly.
@@lezard2102 This is somewhat right but not exactly the Xenogears series was never going to tie up with Saga though. Perfect works has a completely different timeline
As much as I want a Remaster/ Remake, I'd rather this series remained untouched. Most of the games today are not being made to be better than it's predecessor but rather caving to things like "Ethics Commissions" and mob mentality. Some people noticed this in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and one of the creators eventually came forward to explain why certain things were changed. There was little to no death and people were essentially brought back from the dead to avoid, "Putting too much of a strain on gamers of today because what was acceptable in 1997 isn't acceptable today." If you don't believe me then go ahead and research it.
Kiss 😘
