Augustin Hadelich, violin
filmed at home in summer 2020 during Covid19 hiatus - Hudba
Mr. Hadelich's perfect intonation throughout is just almost unbelievable!!
Surprisingly well centered pitch ...was thinking the same thing
Out of this world! I am old and my first violin teacher saw Ysaye play. He told me he never could figure out how Ysaye could play individual strings because his fingers were so thick. He said the violin looked 3/4 size in his hands.
Wow
I always thought the same thing when I saw Perlman
And a viola would look like a full size in his hands! Ysaye had a huge viola which he could pull the biggest, thickest sound out of.
The intonation, technique, sound, and musicality are simply unmatched. Astounding 😱 A living legend
And his double stops are pitch PERFECTION! A thrilling artist of uncommon skill!
The definition of what I hear:
I taste colors.
Trust me, it doesn’t get any better than this. Hadelich is the supreme violinist of our time.
His sound full of color , light and clean yet rich and warm, how?!??
To be honest, it gets better everytime i listen/watch
@@NeilVendrick so true, like a good book...👏🏻
Hann and Jason do also have their chairs
If this doesn’t knock you out your chair you don’t really like the fiddle.
He is the best. And he wears the greatest shirts.
Who can pull off purple like that?😳❤️
Purple really suits him.
My English vocabulary is too limited to describe how much I loved this performance. Thank you so much Augustin, as always you're beyond amazing!
I'm american and I still don't have words
@@silascolombara8397 what do you mean by that
@@dmitridmitrijevitsjsjostak3627 what
@@dmitridmitrijevitsjsjostak3627 I think they’re maybe saying that English is their first language, unlike the OP, and even they don’t know how to do this performance justice with their words
Someone who plays with such exquisite sensitivity must be a most decent and thoughtful individual much appreciated by those fortunate to know him.
Wow! Again, I am left speechless from Augustin's performance. I, too, lack sufficient words to fully describe my admiration and appreciation of Augustin's artistry and phenomenal and unprecedented technical abilities. We are so fortunate to be living in an era where we have the technical means to record these unbelievable performances for posterity. Augustin's performances are hugely inspirational not only to violinists, but to all musicians.
Ysaye is one of my favourite composers, Augustin Hadelich one of my favourite violinists. Combining both produces something extraordinary!
the cleanest violin player i have heard till this day!.... awesome!
Best version of all you can find in youtube
Ysaye himself would have loved this interpretation
1.Obsession (prelude) 00:00
2. Malinconia 2:49
3. Danse des ombres (Sarabande) 5:56
4. Les furies 10:21
I was surprised that no one put time stamps in the comments, so there you go
Thanks!
Mindboggling performance. And this is the first time I've ever heard the second and third movements played by anyone.
Same here, and those 2 movements are absolutely beautiful.
Obsession (Prelude) 0:00
Malinconia 2:53
Danse des Ombres (Sarabande) 5:57
Les furies 10:21
I loved it !!!!
Me tooo
@@Jabafish ysaye's compositions are so mysterious and wonderful right?
@@Cunhacomposer no problem 💕
Thank you
@@maltamaryfree no problem fellow violin laber lol
I was not expecting that opening at all and i loved it!
It's a good piece right? I've also played it.
Read this as it happened to me 😂
The experience is different for everyone! if I may share mine: I'm a viola player and when I switched to it at 12 years old I hadn't learned the serious musician's violin repertoire and so I wasn't familiar with the Bach E Major prelude for violin. I heard this Ysaÿe's "Obsession" on CZcams before hearing the Bach prelude. So I was actually more shocked when I realised there was more to the opening phrase that's played here when I eventually listened to Bach's prelude! Needless to say: I learned at age 12 that this was a nod to Bach and the clue is in the title that Ysaÿe could not get this motif out of his head and he expanded on it in his own unique way!
Very nice performance by Hadelich, I love it :)
@@Jabafish How much effort did this piece take for you? I’m currently learning the third sonata so I’m curious about this too.
The beginning of the Bach Prulude
This is like listening to an animated but nuanced conversation - beautiful interpretation that lets every aspect of the piece speak for itself
This is such an excellent comment.
Too Incredible!!! Augustin performs with his out of this world perfection on one of the most difficult violin piece ever written. The "dynamic" range is almost impossible for me to fathom :-)
Augustins' fantastic playing of the six Ysaÿe sonatas has raised the status of these works to master pieces. They are a really great joy to listen to and this one is no exception.
i haven't heard his first or fifth, did you?
I'm far from being an expert in classical music but I must say that every your performance is an incredible journey for me, it touches my soul. Thank you.
I love the references on this Sonata, Bach and Dies Irie
"Augustin does not interpret, he is only the means of transport".
The truth is said! Amen! He Is our transport ❣️❣️
this interpretation is really impressive. Mr. Augustin, his way of playing the violin is captivating. I love it.
Out of this world. Augustine's combination of technique and musicality is unsurpassed.
Wow!! I believe this is the best Ysaye 2 ive ever heard. Its so musical,, and that Del Gesu!! Oh my God.
Divine attention to detail!!
I was already waiting for that precious Augustin! How to express for something that enriches the soul! My God! Amazing! Master of this Noble art!!! 👏👏👏
His bowing is AMAZING!! How?
Paganini - Joachim - Sarasate - Kreisler - Augustin Hadelich. BRAVO MAESTRO
I love your string crossings. They're so well executed and smooth, and your dynamic control is so beautiful.
I love the intimacy of these performances and so much technical learning from being able to watch a virtuoso do his thing. I always find that Augustin has such great responses to technical questions.
and that fiddle sounded mighty awesome too ...
dude.. u just destroyed me, loved your interpretation, thanks a lot for sharing it with us!
Just phenomenal. I keep trying to emulate that relaxed left hand and seemingly effortless bow management. I’ll always love the Shumsky recordings, but this is on another level. The voicing and intonation and clarity and phrasing, all supreme.
Such penetration and power , clarity and precision.
Yumm
absolutely breathtaking
Who could dislike an interpretation like this?
Mad respect for this guy!!
Thank you for being a great inspiration to so many violinists out there, including me. Your rendition of this piece is amazing!
This is so far beyond fantastic, it is truly unbelievable!!! Usually, I only cry when I play violin!!!!
Amazing, the Paganini of our era!
Omg Augustin is surreal
My oh my - it's all there. Everything you could wish for.
So glad to hear your interpretation, because I m working on this piece 😄
Amazing control and expression, like always Augustin 🙏👏
Back to listen again after several months-Augustin this is incredibly amazing!❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
I've played the Obsession before. And I realized so many things I can do better with that piece hearing your version of it!
~And by the way, the Malinconia sounds easy but it is actually very hard to get in tune.
True bro
certain artists are attracted to certain works ... and I'm speachless and gratefull that augustin played this shit!
Favourite piece by favourite performer
Absolutely beautiful. Hauntingly beautiful. Performed to perfection.
My favourite violinist playing my favourite Ysaye Sonata :D love it!
Thank you Augustin!
I think I may have a new favorite, here, too!❤️
Just incredible, so many colours! An absolute pleasure - thank you Augustin.
Really, really perfect, like a miracle.
I study computer science. While we have online lessons, it's quite hard to get your head free. Even with music.
Those masterpieces from Hadelich are powerful enough to clear my focus and soft, to give me the right work flow.
Just thank you. c:
Another computer science student here! For me it doesn't work though, because I end up focusing on the music instead...
Beautiful interpretation!
Eugène Ysaÿe - a revelation for me!
Thank you!
I feel so privileged to get an up close seat to your performances! Exquisite playing. Thank you.
Thank you for treating us to such perfect Ysaye!
Dear Augustin, for your next recording you should either play all Sonatas & Partitas by Bach, combine Bach with Ysaÿe or play all of the Ysaÿe Sonatas. Either way - a great video!
You must be pretty happy that he’s coming out with the Bach Sonatas and Partitas album, I know I’m excited
Beatifully done Augustin, thank you for sharing this with us
I adore this sonata, you are a genius! keep your music coming!
