    We are excited to present another video for you guys! In this video we discuss the pros and cons, and what does a Med-Surg nurse consist of. Ang & Nat have been Med-Surg Tele nurses for about 2 years now and we have been able to see a lot during these 2 years of our nursing careers. We are very grateful for where we are and where Med-Surg has taken us. One major pro is that with Med-Surg nursing, you learn so much. This area of nursing is an area that will allow you to continuous to learn. Throughout this video we recommend that Med-Surg nursing is a very great area for new nurses and nurses who aren't sure what specialty they would like to get into, to start off in. We hope you enjoy this video, and hope you consider to subscribe to our channel to get videos similar to this one. Let us know in the comment section below what would like to see from us in future videos.

    I have been loving Med surge. You literally do see everything just like you guys said. You’re always practising a bunch of skills and your critical thinking is always tested which I think is vital for your growth as a nurse, it makes you a better nurse. Love it !! Great video 👏🏾

      I have been an LPN for 8 years, but only home health peds and ambulatory. I became an RN in December 2020. However, because I did my LPN-RN during the pandemic, my classmates and I did not get to experience clinical. It’s been hard. I have an interview for med/surg in June. I’m excited. I want to learn and grow.

    Lol In school everyone wanted the specialty, but medSurg geriatric grew on me. Different varieties of disease process to learn from, in addition, it comes with a lot of hands-on. It's either medSurg geriartics, then move towards labor and delivery or Psych.

    I never had a passion for med surg. I started to hate it less when I started my role transition and I was placed on GM. Now that I am getting ready to choose my hospital I will more than likely end up on a med surg unit as these are my options. Happy I found this video, it has made me feel a lot better.

    post-acute skilled nursing we have all that too. we do IV, tx, medication management, insulin, surgical management of pt who had general surgery or maybe specialized surgery. Most of our patients come from the top hospital: sequoia, kaiser, sutter, stanford(a lot..), and el camino. yep

    Hey ladies! Great channel! I look forward to seeing you two grow. Videos with this type of content are sparse right now. I think nurses are too taxed from the pandemic to make videos 🤷‍♀️. I have been a med surg nurse starting in '16 but I took the last 1.5 yr off to care for my sick father and raise my baby. I finished my BSN in that time and am now working on finding a job in my area. Not as many options as NY (I was raised in that area 👊). Now I live in a less populated part of WA and there are only 2 hospitals nearby. I'm super anxious about applying/interviewing/orienting and just overall returning to nursing. I'm a med surg nurse at heart. Idk why but I just love it. It would be so wonderful to see some videos about working during Covid, how to protect yourself and your family, and/or returning to nursing after a break (if you have any tips on this). I really think you two have a lot of potential to grow this channel right now because, like I said, not many videos are out there talking about what you two are. If you find time to upload a little more frequently and touch on some of those topics I mentioned and/or more, you guys would be stars! Already rockstars, ladies! 😘 Glad to have found you!

      Thank you so much for the support and the recommendation! we appreciate all the support and love we get from our fellow nurses. We will try to do an updated COVID nurse video, as our unit is currently back to a COVID unit. Med-surg nursing is awesome for anyone that loves learning and likes a somewhat fast pace (of course depending on your unit). It is ok to feel nervous about applying/interviewing/orienting, but showing your potential employer of the love and passion you have for the field will get you far. Good luck. You got this, us New Yorkers are unstoppable!

    hope you doing well
    i have a question that i cant seem to find the answer to it anywhere
    is there be if you a med surg what type of surgeries do, you take part
    is there certain departments you can work in like
    pediatric surgery ect .
    will really love a reply.

    • @AngNatNursesinNYC
      @AngNatNursesinNYC  Před 2 lety +3

      Hi! such a great question. I was confused as to what a medsurg nurse does. Medsurg nurse normally manages adult patients with many different complications, however the complications are about the same throughout this specialty. We care for patients with respiratory complications, infections, cardiac dysrhythmias that are manageable/stable (if not they go to cardiac unit or ICU), and patients with kidney diseases. As for the cardiac dysrhythmias, we are medsurg/telemetry nurses so this may only apply to units and nurses that can monitor and assess telemetry monitors. Hope this answered your question. Thank you for the support.

      Once you become a nurse, you can then get certified in a certain area. Through ANCC you are accredited in that specific area, by taking an exam and having certain clinical hours. The clinical hours are specific for each area of nursing.
