12:40 I agree with you Mark, Filipina looks for a man who can give her a stable life just like all women. My aunt married an Irish man and they've been together for over 30 years and I see how he treated her so lovingly and made her very happy.

I spent May and part of June 2023 selling all my belongings in the USA so I could get back to the Philippines and my local girl (I met the girl in person) in Luzon…

My wife is from the Philippines. After two divorces, I decided to do some research which was much easier, due to the advent of the internet and social media. Specifically,I wanted to know which guys were / are the happiest in marriage and all roads led to the Philippines. As far as the age difference, I had not planned on a 24 yr gap, but after 'video dating' with many different women in the Phil, of all ages, it was one in particular where everything was right. Nobody was beating down my door to make me happy and in fact, the western women I did date later on after the last divorce, were always 'difficult' (not easy going) in some way or another. I decided age was not a problem. I've been ridiculed some by strangers (women my age) here in the states but really, who cares if your happy and content. My wife wants a sense of financial security which I expect and am happy to give her. Throughout history and in most cultures, women want security from their companion. We help her immediate family in the Philippines. In fact, it makes me happy that I am able to lend support.

I certainly wouldn't listen to older western women. They are insanely jealous lol! I was the same as you not looking for a large age gap. Was talking to multiple Filipinas at once at the time which were close to my age. It was boring like a job interview. The Filipina who would eventually be my wife messaged me and I originally told her we could be friends because I couldn't imagine making that age gap of 20 years work long term, but man she looked amazing. We kept messaging and she was always fun to talk to - always teasing me or something. She was the only one I was having fun with, so I decided to just go for it. Been married almost 9 years now and glad I didn't listen to all of the naysayers. It's worked out great. I actually look younger now 9 years later than I did when I met her and was stressed out from being in relationship with western women. Good luck!

We each got a jumbo baked potato stuffed with BBQ and all trimmings, a side of mac and bottle of beer and the bill was $47.31 before tip. Food prices have skyrocketed here. Medical cost after retiring could potentially wipe out all your savings so that is one of my reasons for looking to PH for my retirement.

Hospital costs in Thailand can be ridiculously expensive too, albeit not as insane as the US. There is a triple tiered pricing system in hospitals in Thailand. If you end up in surgery, ICU or worse, the costs can and do become extreme. Lots of self insured expats in Thailand, who cannot get health insurance (too expensive and won't cover them for pre-existing conditions) and basically won't be treated if they become seriously ill or badly injured. Treatment won't commence until payment is secured.

FYI: "As of Jan. 1, 2019, there is no mandate for health insurance at the federal level"
One can search for that string and find the source. (Investopedia)
Note, the federal tax form will still ask if you have insurance. Regardless of your answer there is no longer a federal penalty for not having it.
But! For state requirement you should check your state's requirements. For example:
"As of 2022, only five states (California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Vermont) and the District of Columbia require all eligible residents to declare annual proof of health insurance coverage on state taxes. "
Again, search the phrase, this came from Forbes in Aug' '22.

Its nice food is so cheap there. When I visited my uncle in Hawaii for 2 weeks the food was outrages ($15 for McDonald burger). He would take me to where the locals eat for cheaper. One dish called LOCO MOCO is awesome. Its a bed of rice with a hamburger patty on top, then gravy and a fried egg on top. Served with Miso soup. Its around $8. It rained everyday I was there, just sprinkles. I rented a new mustang convertible, and it was annoying to constantly have to put the top up and down hehehe. This guy has good taste in vehicles. I too have 3 Duramax Diesel vehicles for my biz, two trucks and a van. Duramax made by Isuzu, so tough as nails. I'm an avid motorcycle rider here in the USA with three big bikes but will not be riding in PH, just too dangerous. I'm hoping to pick up a cheap vehicle with good AC while I'm there for 5 months. I bought a travel insurance to cover my medical up to $250,000 no deductible for $300 or $60 a month. It also covers many other things. That's unfortunate to hear having to go back over unearned income in Roth IRA. It must be a considerable amount to have to worry about it.
Now that I know that one has to have "earned" income, which I don't have, I won't be shifting any more dividend/brokerage/investment income to it (only put in $500 when I opened last month).
Taxable brokerage account it will have to be, +HYSA and DCA into some staked cryptos

Hey Otto, it’s not a considerable amount just $4,300. I just don’t want to deal with whatever hassles the IRS will make me do. Good thing is, I can put in 100% of my future channel earnings in my ROTH. I’ll just do that monthly instead of a lump sum

It's confusing (or relatively impossible) to find out what the IRS would actually do with $X amount against the rules, since many of their audit thresholds and such are in a black box, but better just to avoid any hassles.
