  • To foil with footstraps or without? Well, that is the question. In this short video Starboard designer Ollie O'Reilly explains the key differences between the Ace Foil (with inserts) and the Ace Foil Lite (without inserts).
Ultimately this comes down to rider preference, their riding style, and also conditions. Some riders require the flexibility to have footstraps, while purest SUP downwinder foilers want the lightest board possible.
Starboard has introduced the Ace Foil range which features the iconic pin-tail design for efficient takeoff and tracking downwind. The parrel midsection and boxy rails ensure an even distribution of volume, making this a versatile foil board that is great in downwinders, surf and also light wind wingfoil crossover.
The Ace Foil is now available in two variations:
1/ Ace Foil with Footstrap Inserts: This is the preferred option for a wingfoil crossover board, perfect for riders seeking ultimate control and stability. Equipped with front & rear footstrap inserts.
2/ Ace Foil (Lite) without Footstrap Inserts: For those craving efficiency and speed, the strapless version offers a lighter-weight design without footstrap inserts and center handle. With up to 18% reduced weight saving, you experience effortless gliding and improved take off in SUP downwinding, allowing you to push the limits even further.
The 2024 Ace Foil range comes exclusively in Blue Carbon construction, and in 4 sizes options:
    • 7’10” x 23″ / 140L
    • 7’4” x 21.5″ / 120L
    • 7’0” x 20″ / 100L
    • 6’9” x 19″ / 85L
