    This is the 1st time I've heard this version of Play That Beat in almost 40 years. I used to rock this in my Datsun 200SX.

    I started listening to the pirate radio stations Jazz Funk Merchants which became JFM then London Weekend Radio, which became LWR; all long before Kiss 100…
    Loved the Streetsounds Electro albums too and still have all of them!

    First time I've heard lesson 1 today.
    I've danced to lesson 2 in clubs a few time's.
    Lesson 3 taped off John Peel , played to death and forgotten. I was word perfect from the off, tho.

    We used to go craaazy breakdancing to the breakbeat located in 11:50. That break drove us Puerto Ricans mad on the dancefloor back in those days ha ha ha!!!!

      @@dpalaoroThey first came out as promo / advanced copies to Djs on Disconet rec, two first rec in 1984 then 3rd in 1985, then were printed on "tommy boy rec" after the Disconet rec releases on the same years.

    This was the start for me, blew my mind when I first listened to these many years ago, soon after coldcut, bomb the bass etc were having big hits in the uk charts, then acid house came along and it went crayzee 😂

    I remember buying the "legitimate" Tommy Boy 12" and being crestfallen when it wasn't this (at the time) "illegal" version. Still amazing, and to the best of my knowledge it was all done via tape splicing, without digital samplers. (If I'm wrong please correct me...thanks!)

    I’m trying to work out which cut ‘n’ paste track sampled the music theory book tape ‘read rhythm right’ by Claire Lester. I think it was one of the Lessons tracks, but it might be ColdCut.
