  • Dancing In A Mad World is an artistic approach to document the empty streets of Denver, Colorado during the stay at home policy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Proper safety precautions were taken to maintain social distance during filming.
    The juxtaposition of having the elegant and graceful movements of dancers being surrounded by an apocalyptic feeling world creates an unnerving feeling. It's beauty in a mad world.

      Hard to break it apart as I like the complete work. But I was quite struck emotionally by the reflection of the dancer on the glass window/door with the Covid-19 verbiage. I love the many aerial vantages of the city & seeing the dancers in red far below as well as seeing buildings & structures iconic to Denver. I was also quite emotional with the close-up face shots. I really like the strategic placing of the spray-painted message of hope & how the dancers interweaved throughout the whole thing, which for me brought about feelings of freedom of movement, of not being restricted in the middle of being restricted. Thank you for sharing your art. Made me cry, makes me feel hope, & makes me want to keep dancing :)

      I enjoyed seeing the vacant side of LoDo. When it's always so full of people and some get the feeling of claustrophobia when walking around there. It's amazing how still and beautiful the city is when no one is around to distract. A fitting example of just how blind we can be to the subtle details that surround us everyday.
      Excellent work Brende!!

      @@leahtardwedgie5700 YES!! I'm so glad you picked up on the message of freedom. I tried to pack as many messages in here as possible; freedom, beauty in the chaos, turning tragedy into opportunity, and having the dancers in red to symbolize light during dark times. Thank you for taking the time to watch and telling me how it made you feel!

    Re: Is there another version of this that you made?
    I thought I saw this same video 2 or 3 weeks ago (by you) , basically the same, but no dancers in red? Did I just imagine that?
    Amazing and haunting.... I love it and have started to follow and watch your work.

      I had uploaded a short 30 second preview of drone shots so I could pitch the idea to the dancers when I reached out to them! I made the link private since it was an unfinished version.

    Using MAD WORLD as if its not the saddest song ever, probably helped with a lot of the feeling.... the use of the song got you easy emotional responses. HOWEVER, its still beautiful, i love the imagery, you,captured something amazing. I think it could have stood on its own is my criticism lol.

    • @brende_films
      @brende_films  Před 4 lety

      That's why I chose the song. Music is the glue that holds a video together and hits us psychologically. Glad you enjoyed the imagery as well :)
