EPRP is the worst political group established by the Name of Ethiopia, even worse than TPLF. 1) Since its establishment EPRP resorted to and adhered to armed struggle using Eretria and Tigray as a base- which is a mechanism of killing as many poor Ethiopian serving in the national army to defend their nation. When become unsuccessful in the rural armed struggle, it launched a campaign of targeted assassinations in Addis Ababa and other major cities and killed a number of intellectuals, working class, students and even poor laborers. Armed struggle is not a means to kill the ruling class. EPRP struggle was not against colonial power, like the rest of African countries, it was initially against the ruling Aristocracy. EPRP struggle with Military (Derg) Government was not over the direction of the revolution, either. It was on the ownership of the revolution; i.e it was a power struggle. Therefore, armed struggle against fellow citizen was unjustified by any means. 2) From the beginning, EPRP programme was not to bring justice to the nation, but primary to dismantle the nation. It formally asks for cessation of Eretria and Ogaden, and self-determination of other nationalities. The cases of Eritrea and Ogaden were not colonization under any circumstances. But, if subjugation of these territories and other nationalities by the ruling Aristocracy was an issue, EPRP should have opted for different forms of government where justice and democracy prevail not asking for session of these territories from outset. 3) EPRP joined Mohamed Siad Barre of Somalia, merely for the sake of collecting firearms to kill their fellow citizens, especially poor Ethiopians serving the military government and the so-called members of MEISON (All Ethiopian Socialist Movement) who were of course their friends and comrades during student movement. 4) Although they pretend too much, EPRP was not inclusive of Nationalities in Ethiopia. Among the 9 Ethiopians participated on the founding congress of EPRP (then called EPRO) in West Berlin 3, were Oromos, but no one were including in the ‘central committee’ formed on the day of its formal establishment (April 1972). But all the Tigres on the meeting and one in absentia, 3 Amharas and one Gurage were named Central Committee. If it had been working on issues of nationalities how it exclude the Oromos from the leadership, why it had not brings in other nationalities, which it claimed as oppressed by ruling Amhara elite? Why not at least has one representative from the then regions (Teklay Gizat)? Moreover, those named themselves (call elected per-se) as members of the Politburo were basically Tigre (Berhan Meskel, Tefaye Debasay, Zeru Khishin and Eyasu Alemayehu). This signal, there is systematic exclusion of the Oromos, Amharas and other nationalities from the top leadership of EPRP from the onset of its formation. Therefore, using the name Ethiopia only as a cover for hidden agenda cannot grantee EPRP as the multi-nationalities party. 5) EPRP have never acknowledged a lot of reforms and progress made by Hailesillasie regime as well as radical policy measures taken by Military (Derg) Government including land reform. They bulkily labeled any one not on their way, including their members, Fascist, ‘Bandas’, enemy of the people and targeted for assassination. As Robert Putinam put it, ‘Development (social Transformation) is path dependent’; thus it cannot be brought about in one night. Therefore, after reading a number of books written in reference of EPRP, I concluded that, quite contrary to its claim, EPRP HAS NEVER STOOD FOR THE TRUTH, FOR JUSTICE, FOR DEMOCRACY. EPRP is a group of mafias, basically from Tigray origin, that consistently and courageously manipulated the innocent youth of Amhara, Gurage and members of other ethnic groups and let them kill their fellow citizens and killed by Cadres and Militia of the Military (Derg) Government. Although I was under 15 at that time, I always feel sad for those, including my close relatives, who lost their lives for hidden objective of EPRP which was unclear to them. I strongly feel that the whole (hidden) purpose of EPRP is to make Ethiopia a weak and vulnerable nation that cannot protect its national territory and eventually fall apart.
