I drove one just like that for a Cartage Company in Cincinnati in 1976, my first Truckin' job, it was a real MOOSE to handle, but, NEVER failed me !! I was just 25 years old then..

I remember back in the late 60s my dad bought one like your. He made it a dump truck. Bad because it was way too heavy. He made me drive the thing. Wonder I don’t kill my self. Think would not stop. Later I saw the air lines were not connected to the back axel. He just said drive slow. Things were different back in those days. Made me be a safer driver.i would become an locomotive engineer with the Union Pacific 40+ years now retired. The White is a blast from my past! Thanks for showing it.

Nice find. You had me right up to the point when you said you were going to remove the box-type fuel tanks with the built in step. Plenty of trucks had those when I started driving in 69. Positive ground was common, too.

I know it's your truck and all but, I'd keep those fuel tanks. They're classic and everyone but everyone has those chrome torpedo tanks. They don't do anything for a vintage gem like that.

I drove one of those way back at the start of my trucking career. Same transmission, square tanks, single axle tractor. Think the back window was rectangular, and it had a air start on it. Absolutely no frills, but I remember liking it. Use to haul plastic out of Massachusetts down to New Jersey, then pick up soap at Colgate Palmolive in Jersey city. 45,000lbs on a single axle tractor and 42 or 45 ft trailer. Sure was a long slow ride home. I loved trucking back then, it’s been a long time since I felt that way about it. I’m almost done, just part time these days.

I have a working 1965 9064TD White with a 13' dump box, used to be a tractor, we lengthened the frame and added the dump box. My dad bought it in "73" off the the Jaress truck dealer lot in Toledo Ohio, there was three of them there at the time, they used to be Interstate Truck Lines tractors. We used it as a lowboy tractor till 1995. Mine has a Cummins NHE225 with the last brand new NH block from Cummins when we had it rebuilt. It had a Fuller RT-910 in it but needed lower and higher gears so we put a Fuller RTO-9513 in, much better!

That truck is cool just like it is, dents and all. Get it running, throw a flatbed on there, I bet it's a blast to drive. it's always easy to throw on some new gas tanks, but those have the look. If their not too far gone, try Muriatic Acid, that will clean it up and take the rust out. Rinse it out well and throw some fuel in right away to coat it, to prevent flash rusting. You probably know that, maybe someone here can use that information, but original is original. Owning a wrecker is a curse. I keep bringing shit home I don't need.I love old weird vintage stuff.

If no more than scuff and buff and if luck held, break the engine loose as that many miles unless heavy rusted cylinders and doubt unless something opened a hole up to inside besides a mouse or rat. Highly doubt that guys who care could not break free. A few jerks on the drivetrain instead of driving the old train and rock a by baby she will come lose unless the clutch falls in and on the floor.... I hate it when that happens. I drove one of those for Johnson Brothers in concrete washington in the sixties.
