No. You either know how to ranch with wildlife or you don’t. Predators are there for ecological reasons. Take out the coyotes and you will be overrun by rabbits and vermin, both which can carry diseases. The word herd means just that, herd your animals. We put dogs out with the herd which are very effective in chasing away predators.

With the drought for the past few years and having to buy hay I don’t think Mike has the resources for that kind of approach. Plus, if he takes out all the ones that are not scared of humans, only the shy ones that don’t pose a problem will be left.

Some people are just so afraid to even look at a gun so what they can cry all they want, I would carry that riffle with me all the time. When I went to high school just about everyone had a rifle in their pickup and a rifle rack in the back window, I lived in central California no body ever complained about that. Now I live about seven miles from there, now we call the state Kommiefornia. Yes that rifle is a great tool. Keep up the great channel I love watching other people work....lol.

If people complain about having a gun, then they are at the wrong site. Living on a ranch usually means protecting your livestock and property, and/or hunting game to stock the freezer. If they don't like it then go to a site that allows their crops and stock to be destroyed by predators (won't find any like that!). You have more tolerance than I do for people like that. I guess that is why I like this channel so much. Give your daughter some extra hugs and she will be ok. You do have a beautiful family, you and your wife are excellent and amazing parents. When the government trapper climbs into the back seat of a Super Cub with the back doors off with a shotgun full of buckshot things get really serious for coyotes.

Looks like you need some bungee cords to help anchor that crate down on the rack and maybe one or two across the top to keep stuff from bouncing out!?

That Glenfield model 10A essentially a Marlin 336 made as a hardware store brand. I own a Glenfield 10A, first rifle I ever bought. Perfect for coyotes out to 200 yards. Perfect for deer too. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a .300 win mag or a 7mm mag for this kind of stuff.

Nothing wrong with protecting your herd and your future bottom line. I'm a 2A sorta fella and a "Fudd" means I believe in owning guns for hunting but not into weapons of war, that being said I believe in what I believe and you are free to believe and do as needed. It's not for me to control you! Love beef myself and Angus burgers are the best imho! Tools are life for me I'm a handy man, so like you I fix stuff but I own no critters to protect. But I like wild meat, venison, feral hogs wild turkeys, fish of many kinds! I'm in awe of the job you're personally doing as a rancher and a dad and husband , God Bless you. I know where food comes from!!!

My grandpa always carried a rifle when checking his cows. They even taught us kids. Sort of. I kept missing the target. Dad finally emptied the rifle, told me to sight but do not touch the trigger, while he stood in front. I'm a lefty! Never shot an animal though.

Bambi is the best. She needs her own CZcams channel. Sad to hear she won’t be a mom this year, but a little extra cake will help ease her pain.
Also it is important to show why we do need access to firearms. Sure the country as a whole may need some regulations or boundaries, but they are a necessary tool for many that provide our food and other services.

Mike I wish you the best in talking with Mackenzie. One things for sure is the ranch teaches life’s lessons in a very real way!!! I hope someday a group of us can come spend some time thinning the coyotes for you. Anyone who is against you having a gun should watch videos on coyotes and wolves destroying a calf or fawn. All of our best to your family!!!

We live on a very small acreage about 6 acres. We’re down in the valley by the creek. There are lots of coyotes. I don’t have time to hunt them. But I’ve never lost an animal to the coyotes in these eight years. No sheep, no goats, and no calves. Probably because we’ve always had German Shepherds.

We have cattle too. My son has killed 3 or 4 coyotes this winter/spring. He has found them walking around in amongst the cattle at night. We can't have them killing our baby calves or trying to take down our cows either. We've also seen a couple of foxes this year. They're not good either for cattle.
Also sorry that Bambi lost her calf. 😢 I know that hurts your family because Bambi is a special cow.

Thanks for your time of service. Which branch did you serve in? My son is in the Air Force.
Guns are never wrong, but sometimes the people using them are. Your cows are you're livelihood. Bambi is definitely spoiled.
Enjoyed today's video, see you tomorrow.
Mackenzie- this will be easier on Bambi, rather than getting attached and then it dying.
