Hi Sir, thank you for making a video on Black Ghost Knife fish. I used to love these fishes and once had got a pair of BGK. The experience is bad. It's fun to watch them in dim light. After a day I explored that few of my neon tetras, harlequin rasboras and platys were missing an eye. There were more causalities soon. More fishes had lost their eyes and some fishes were already dead or severely injured. I had to take the BGK out of my tank within 3 days of adding them. They were responsible for the death of some 7-8 neon tetras, 5 rasboras and lot of platys. The BGK are cute monsters who pretend to be innocent all day but once the lights are turned off they show they true colors. They are nocturnal predators and attack smaller tankmates. I have a 3 feet tank but it's easy for the BGKs to get their prey as most of the fishes would be inactive or sleeping in the dark.
Yes I'm facing same last five day I m noticed every day my two to three fishes r missing my all neon tetra now dead I feel very why I m not watching this video earlier

i have 3 ghost knifes...they are almost out all the day in my 4 ft tank. and feed with hand, from top of water...and they are lovely. they live with bala sharks, acara, blue gouramis, bosmani rainbows, tiger barbs, clown loaches, 1 brichardi cichlid, 1 Geophagus... im loving it

Hello sir I agree with you on aspects related to keeping these fish but I also think if these fish are nocternal feeders then they use electric discharge to find food I think the nose is enough to find out about food mine eat everything from pellets to live but they immediately sense everything at the time I add the food to their environment . Electric discharge can be like to paralise or discomfort their prey available as live food in their environment. Pls let us know more about electric discharge done by knife fish in detail ....thankyou

I found out the anchor worms on fish when they were in my planted tank, so do I need to do treatment for the planted tank as well or just do a lot of water changes?

You can keep small One, with lot of hiding space, and very soon it will need a bigger tank, also make sure the tank has good filtration and good media so the water is ammonia free, do not over feed the fish

Sir, it's been 2 years i am into this hobby. For the first time i have set up a 1x1 feet cube planted tank, not a hi tech tank though. Plants are growing but in average speed. It's ok as i guess as i dont have co2 facility. I am providing 10 -12 hrs of light, macro + micro fertilizer, root tabs. But the problem is, i see the stem plants like didiplis diandra, polysperma, s repens are growing aerial roots and plants are kind off growing horizontally, they seem like they are facing problem in standing firmly in aquasoil. Another thing, (HM) pearl weed is growing but it's very slow .. is it because lack of co2 facility ?
Hi Suraj, I do not know abut didiplis diandra, but I have grown polysperma rosanervig and staurogyne reopens both with and without CO2. Even with Co2 injection, polysperma rosanervig will tend to grow horizontally. They need to be trimmed regularly and planted closely. That will restrict their horizontal growth. It grows quite fast even without CO2. I think yours getting the proper nutrients but they are not getting enough light. Medium light is enough for it's healthy growth. As far as Staurogyne Reopens is concerned, it does grow better with additional CO2. Without CO2, they stay within 3-4 inches while with CO2 they can grow more vertically and get as tall as 7-8 inches. Also the leaves get longer. It's normal to see aerial roots coming out of the internodes of stem plants. Those roots derive nutrients present in the water column.
@@SurajRoy You are welcome. Happy to help you. You need not increase the duration of your light. Instead increase the wattage of your light. You have a 1 feet aquarium and I believe a light with 15-20 W would be enough to grow plants like staurogyne reopens. 8-9 hours a day would be sufficient. Polysperma can do with lower light but a powerful light will make the leaves reddish or pinkish. It's always better to provide CO2. DIY Co2 is better if you are a beginner. Happy aquascaping.

Sir can I keep 2 ghost fishes in my 3 feet Goldfish tank?.., or isn't it not suitable??
it will create problems as there signals will disturb and they will get uncomfortable. you will need around 500 litre tank for a pair.
You can keep small One, with lot of hiding space, and very soon it will need a bigger tank, also make sure the tank has good filtration and good media so the water is ammonia free, do not over feed the fish

Hello sir ..... yesterday I got a new 1 feet cube aquarium. I am using a hang on back filter for it along with api bio media. But sir I somehow lost the net bag which comes with the media. So can tie media in a soft cotton cloth and put it in the filter?
Sure you can, do that, yet best is to get a net bag as it will last longer in the filter, the cloth will degrade

Sir, it's been 2 years i am into this hobby. For the first time i have set up a 1x1 feet cube planted tank, not a hi tech tank though. Plants are growing but in average speed. It's ok as i guess as i dont have co2 facility. I am providing 10 -12 hrs of light, macro + micro fertilizer, root tabs.
But the problem is, i see the stem plants like didiplis diandra, polysperma, s repens are growing aerial roots and plants are kind off growing horizontally, they seem like they are facing problem in standing firmly in aquasoil.
Another thing, (HM) pearl weed is growing but it's very slow .. is it because lack of co2 facility ?

Hi Suraj, I do not know abut didiplis diandra, but I have grown polysperma rosanervig and staurogyne reopens both with and without CO2. Even with Co2 injection, polysperma rosanervig will tend to grow horizontally. They need to be trimmed regularly and planted closely. That will restrict their horizontal growth. It grows quite fast even without CO2. I think yours getting the proper nutrients but they are not getting enough light. Medium light is enough for it's healthy growth.
As far as Staurogyne Reopens is concerned, it does grow better with additional CO2. Without CO2, they stay within 3-4 inches while with CO2 they can grow more vertically and get as tall as 7-8 inches. Also the leaves get longer.
It's normal to see aerial roots coming out of the internodes of stem plants. Those roots derive nutrients present in the water column.

@@SurajRoy You are welcome. Happy to help you. You need not increase the duration of your light. Instead increase the wattage of your light. You have a 1 feet aquarium and I believe a light with 15-20 W would be enough to grow plants like staurogyne reopens. 8-9 hours a day would be sufficient. Polysperma can do with lower light but a powerful light will make the leaves reddish or pinkish. It's always better to provide CO2. DIY Co2 is better if you are a beginner. Happy aquascaping.
