I made that doodlebob video when I was like 9. It just blew up in the algorithm. It didn't even have any tags. I think that the majority of the views are from kids.
He is also confused as of why it didi well.

@@HarbingerOfTruth1 As if kids aren't gonna figure out a way around those restrictions. The little brats are incredibly innovative the moment they hear some use 'you' and 'cannot' in a single sentence.
There's also a Mario 3d land speedrun with 13mil that was posted during that huge mario speedrun view era
CZcams's search filter is busted so there were some videos I literally couldn't find unless I specifically searched for their titles. If you search mario speedrun and sort by views it's not even there. That era is really interesting though.

EZScape CZcamss search filter is awful. I wanted to find videos i watched as a kid in 2009 but there is literally no way as it gets drowned out by clickbait
@@EZScape Tip: use a VPN to change your country. CZcams heavily filters US searches (mostly for political reasons, so foreign searches are a lot more even).

The comments on the SM64 Speedrun were most likely automatically turned off because youtube determined it to be "made for kids" content. Years of comments gone, all because youtube decided that no comments were the best comments.

No it's not because of the child friendly tag. He disabled comments well before that existed.
The short version is... They were outed for making money off of TASes and at one point was lifting TASVideos YT encodes (which is in violation of YT). The account was made redundant thanks to TASVideosChannel. The account had permission from a Tomb Raider RTA runner that as long as it's not monetized it can be uploaded. You can guess that it was monetized.
He was outed for making money off others works and any excuse he made was brought back to "and your account still exists today because-" instead of doing the simple thing and moving everyone to TASVideosChannel and leaving the speedrunnet videos from his old site up.
It wasn’t exactly CZcams’s decision, it was a decision by the FCC

EZScape, I think you're mistaken about the cheaters videos. I actually got introduced to speedrunning videos because of that video. I don't think it makes the community look like it's riddled with cheaters. I enjoyed it because it showed the lengths the community will go to expose cheaters and bring them to light. It was very cool to see the honor and enthusiasm the community had for their passion.

There can definently be some good speedruns in roblox, like completing speed run 4 the fastest, and other popular games. Even arsenal is known as a game you can speedrun

The game is called "Speed Run 4". So it's not a "speedrun speedrun" (as in, for example, you would say "hey! I'm speedrunning Speed Run 4!" )

I know I'm commenting really late, but we actually tried making a world record progression for All Levels Any% back in 2017. It's pretty much forgotten about ever since the leaderboard wipe, but I'm pretty sure Ivory (current community leader) is working on his own.

Edit: FYI kids love watching videos again and again. I found this out by watching my kids over the years they were growing. It's insane how many views are accumulated on videos watched by them. Some of the videos include grown ups using kiddy style voices. Some are grown ups producing videos with kids as the presenters.
The tell tale signs for this is the lack of engagement for these videos, as kids that watch them do not comment on the videos often.
Anyway, I thought I'd share.

Incidentally this is why I love watching speedun cheating videos. I don't get why someone would risk their reputation over something with such low stakes.

my suggestions for competitions:
- minecraft random seed glitched: this is a category that's been dead in terms of traffic for quite a bit time even tho its very interesting, you can perform end skip if you find a ghast in the nether and that saves like 4 minutes alone, random seed glitchless is also cool since its been getting A LOT of traffic recently
- terraria: you get the point I think
- celeste: celeste is a pretty active speed game, no need to explain (also the only game I run seriously)
- super mario oddissey (I can't spell, perfect): its a very active speed game as well
I also want to say thank you, you're the first person to introduce me to speedrunning with your "most important day in speedrunning" video, youtube suggested it to me since I was watching a lot of celeste at that time, so thank you

Hi! Just wanna clarify the Roblox Clip. The game played was Speedrun 4, one of the most popular roblox games (and roblox speedrun on speedrun.com). That video doesn't show the speedrunning community that Roblox has, and is just a gameplay video of the game.

The roblox "speedrun" isn't a speedrun because it was just gameplay in a game named "Speedrun 4" (which is just jumping and running on platforms for 31 levels) on the roblox platform
there are actual speedruns of it (you can see them on speedrun.com) but a normal gameplay is not a speedrun.
Apollos Video was accually what brought me back into Speedrunning and ignited my Love for it again ... and yes i found this channel indirectly because of it

A lot of the reason I think the TAS bot records were everywhere is because I remember a short while ago that they were FLOODING the recommended, mostly bc of all of the challenge run videos everywhere.
That, and i can see the mario stuff ending up on CZcams Kids or something.

9gag community post speedruns sometimes. It's how I started watching them. The blindfolded mike tyson speedrun is what got me to check them out. A lot of people visit that site and you'll see on occasion speedruns or crazy mario maker levels.
Comments are probably disabled on the one channel due to the owner being afraid of COPPA.

I Remember I was about 4 and I had Super Mario Bros, On my wii, and my older brother showed me a Speedrun of it and I remember I was Like "How?!?!? ", And me at the time was playing through New Super Mario bros wii and I was surprised how many people are in this community, and that made me want to try to beat games quick, even though I'm not a Wr holder or anywhere close, this just shows how much Speedruns Have affected my life
I had a similar story, I discovered a speedrun of the first Mario game, and I found it super fascinating and I wanted to try it, but I was never good at games. 10 years later, I'm practicing for a NSMBU run, my first Nintendo game :)
i have been finding GDQ videos from 2015 that are really good. most commentators are really good. also recently found ESA which have a lot of new stuff lately. seeing a lot of games i would have never known about otherwise. looks like there is more and more speedrunning videos with increasing quality. summoning salt initially got me into watching runs but also watching livestreams for hours on end like Ryukahr

I aggree Darbian had a great influence on many, he is the reason I started watching speedruns regularly and even picked up SMB1 to try my skill in speedrunning.

I remember my first exposure to speedrunning being either a 16 star or 0 star run of SM64. I recall watching a video like that multiple times back in the mid to late '00s... with a dial-up connection that made videos buffer for like 600% of their total runtime...
I could literally watch Terminalmontage hundreds of times and still laugh out loud deep belly laughs every single time.
I'm trying to be part of the speedrun community. Got a few runs; but nothing amazing. Keep trucking though, I am going for records on Bonk's Adventure and Action 53 Ooze NES. Maybe Trojan. Thank you EZscape been doing this partly because of you and Apollo Legend
