I was literally about to be devastated that X2 didn't even get an honorable mention but my boy came through!! The moment you swing back to face straight down is so insanely awesome!
I drove nearly 9 hours from my home in AZ for X2 alone since it was my number one bucket list coaster and something I had to experience. Judging by how I only had 20 something credits with desert Storm as my #1 at the time, X2 cleared my top 10 by a mile for the drop alone.
I was very suprised to not see tornado here. Craziest moment on any coaster i have ridden. I would also not put colossos anywere neat a list like this:)
Orion has a better first drop than Fury. Steeper max angle, faster transition to max angle, and faster chain lift speed over the top create a much stronger yeet sensation, especially in the back row.
I haven't been on a lot, but El Toro is my favorite drop so far. I even liked it better than Skyrush's first drop. In the back row especially that drop sometimes makes me slightly gray out and always knocks the wind out of me.
Great America is my home park, I even worked there this halloween and getting several back seat rides on Raging Bull it’s just so great! The first time I got that back ride I hit that dip and then a second later it was like FWOOOM
I’ve been to lagoon several times and it’s never gotten any praise, for a ride more thrilling then any ride in Disney land California or any in universal, it has to be one of the best rides there is, and it’s extremely fun, it was the first ride that I ever went on with any upside down parts, and it’s my favorite ride, The cannibal. Without this ride, no one can even see lagoon from far away. Hopes to the new ride they have being thrilling!
I think you will love the big ones drop at blackpool pleasure beach. The coaster isn’t great but the first drop is probably the most underrated in history, plus its like konda and expedition g force on steroids.
El Toro is that killer. Back row is mind numbing. First time I rode it, I was back row, and attempted to no hand the drop. Nope. I thought I was leaving the train. I grabbed on fast.
I just went to silver dollar city a few days ago, and that drop on time traveler is the best part of the ride even though I like outlaw run better. So I got 1 ride on thunderation, 1 ride on powder keg, 2 rides on time traveler (both were at night), and 4 rides on outlaw run and 2 of them were night rides and I got no rides on wildfire but I definitely will next time I go back. Just one more thing, none of the rides had any effect on me, not even powder kegs launch.
I'd reconsider Millennium Force's drop in the back car since it's tall, steep and the trains are very long. Goliath at SFGA Ill has a the worlds biggest and steepest drop on a wooden coaster making it one of my favourite drops, but I'd agree it's not as good as Raging Bull's. Red Force's drop would likely qualify if I'd only ridden it yet; (BTW its total drop is 344'). I can generally agree w Fury's drop but I'd prefer Orion's drop over Fury's since being 3 degrees steeper is more significant than a 20' drop difference (if that 20' difference is only 15/16th the size, which it is in this case), but I quibble. El Toro's drop I also agree with; it's the best drop on any wooden coaster; it not only drops after a 90 degree turnaround but it also has longer and heavier 18 row 36 passenger trains, making its drop in its back car an experience Goliath at SFGA Ill's drop in row 11 or 12 just can't compete with, with more comfortable restraints to boot! X2's drop is a tough one for me to rank; I know the coaster is great because I get the tummy tickling sensation on its smallest dips, but the drop itself (which I've experienced 4 times all in the back row) was probably too much for me to register. To be clear: I didn't find it scary or rough (although X2 is a little rough in places); I just must've found it a little overwhelming to fully register. But I love X2; It's my 16 favourite coaster I've ridden out of at least 161 I've ridden. El Toro and Raging Bull are in my top 10 coasters and Fury is my 2nd favourite coaster I've ridden after Steel Vengeance. I've not ridden Skyrush but it looks to me like its drop could be my favourite on any coster built so far. Thanks for posting, best drops of a coaster is my amongst if not my favourite coaster content on CZcams.
I completly agree with x-2 drop i have only one problem with it the end od it is extremly painfull for me and i havn't found a way to avoid it . Still its great and fun drop even with the pain but that makes it move to the back of my top 10. Just a shame its so far away for me because i probable can figure this ride out and enjoy it it way more.
I was only on Eejanaika's first drop (hopefully will do X2 during my big trip 2024), but it's also my number one first drop in the world. So it's great to experience this madness in more than one place. XD
Fun vid. I’ve ridden all the ones in your list and they’re all great drops (well, I don’t really think of Ride to Happiness as having a first drop). My list: 1. Fury 325 2. El Toro 3. Skyrush 4. Ex GeForce (for me it has more force than Kondaa’s) 5. Twisted Timbers (yes, maybe a different category of first drop, but I love it)
What? ...no Intimidator 305?...I, actually haven't been on it yet, but it is supposed to be the ultimate grey out experience. I waited about 4 hrs for Goliath when it first opened and the experience is all a blur. Maybe if I rode a few more times, I could have an opinion. El Toro was my overall favorite coaster for many years. Good to see the high ranking of Skyrush. Great list!
I think the drop on I305 is underrated though I wouldn't go as far as to argue that it belongs on this list. It is quite good. I think the reasons people don't talk about it as much is 1) the restraints aren't as good as the other gigas, 2) the view is nothing special, 3) the drop feels like it levels off a bit earlier than Millennium Force and 4) The B&M gigas just feel bigger and more sustained. That said, it is a very good drop in the back.
I haven't ridden any of these--ran out of time before I could do Red Force on my one trip to PortAventura. But Shambhala probably has the best first drop I've ridden. Superman: The Ride at Six Flags New England is close. Wicked Cyclone, the RMC at the same park, has a good one too, though for me it's overshadowed by the rest of the ride (it's my favorite coaster overall). The small but ejector-filled beyond-vertical drop straight into the loop on Eurofighter 320/320+ coasters (mine is Untamed at Canobie Lake Park) is pretty great. The long-defunct Mr. Twister at the old Elitch Gardens had a memorable beginning: you had a significant pre-drop into a fast swooping turnaround that felt like it was going to pitch you over the edge (the only restraint was a buzz bar), then that led directly into the main drop into a headchopping chaos of wooden beams. I guess Twister at Knoebels (and Twister II at Elitch Gardens) are trying to replicate it, but I haven't ridden those yet. The Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg had a brilliant *last* drop: after the ride's opening act of swinging near misses, it braked in the middle of nowhere and went up a second lift hill much taller than the first one, and what followed was hidden by trees. You only saw the big drop down to the river when the train turned left at the very top. It was actually not that steep or large as modern drops go, but it managed to feel nearly vertical.
Omg what in the world?! I’m shocked Skyrush made the list and I305 didn’t🤯😱 But agreed, for it being my absolute favorite Intamin, it does have an amazing drop and the rest of that ride is just😩😭🤩. Cannibal and Der Schwur des Kärnan look like amazing roller coasters.
Raging Bull’s first drop was by far the most overrated element I’ve experienced, even from the very back row. I was expecting the best drop of all time, but it was the weakest first drop I’ve experienced on a B&M hyper given how disappointed I was. I’ve done all the B&M hypers in the US, and all of the others were miles better
Not true I’ve ridden it so many times because it’s my home park and you are flying the whole time on the drop this is definitely one of the best b&m drops I’m not saying it’s the best but it’s one of the best
Raging Bull has quite literally been hauling ass for the past few years. The trim break has been noticeably weaker, but while the first drop (and I still think on the back, the violent pre-drop is insane) is the coasters "signature" element, the drop after the mid-course and after the turnaround are great as well. The twister layout give it a more out of control feeling (like a Bull) so I think generally while its not the best hyper, its strengths are in its two oddities (pre-drop, twister layout).

Mavericks first drop still catches me off guard to this day. The ejector you get is borderline violent.
Oblivion's first (and only) drop into a literal pitch black tunnel is elite, i'm surprised it didn't make the list.
I haven’t been to the UK yet, but Oblivion does seem to have a killer 1st drop!

Tornado’s 1st dip is absolutely absurd, but I wouldn’t really consider it a drop which is why it isn’t on here

My number one drop is Millie and has been since 2010. Just a great view, incredible floater, and it feels endless.
I’ve only been on coasters in Florida and Georgia, Gwazi is my fav 1st drop the sustained ejector in the back row is insane and night rides are wild 🐊

El Loco in Las Vegas at the Adventuredome is a small crazy dive coaster.

The ultimate grey-out experience on i305 is the first turn, not the first drop. That said, for me its drop is the best part of the coaster.

Question: do you not use tags in your videos? It’s often a lot harder to find your stuff on CZcams compared to other coaster channels.

It’s great! One of, if not the only beyond vertical twisting drops i’ve experienced. So much whip in the back row.

Intimidator 305 has a great drop, but it wasn’t quite top 15 worthy. Mostly because it doesn’t have lap bars, so you don’t get nearly as much airtime.

Too bad X2 has gotten soooooo rough. It used to be smooth and my favorite ride in the world. Now I can barely do it. Mild concussion...

I can’t speak to why you were disappointed, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to expect any element to be the best of its kind.
