Lots of you have made comments about “drafting” this set. This is something I wish I had thought of, because it would be the perfect set to play some old Yugioh with friends!
What are friends?
Holy shit, I haven't even thought about that!!! That is awesome
That's an expensive draft haha. Like what $40 per person?
i hope they reprint the OG Structure decks
That would be amazing
I could see it happening now
i'd like that so i could get three of each
I would love to get the lord of the storm structure deck, missed out on getting the deck when it came out back in 2006
Realm of light is getting reprinted.
I think konami is doing this so old players get back and making cards more available to everyone good for your hobby collectors but bad for the hardcore ones
Not really. They will not use the old technology. So it should not affect the price of the original.
@yot330 I mean in a way it will but let's just wait
All these cards have 10x printings who’s struggling to get a scapegoat ?
i hope so. it worked on me lmao. i havnt had yugioh cards since i was like 12 (im 29 now) and i saw they were reprinting some OG stuff like spell ruler, pharaohs servant etc i hopped all over it lol. im an adult that has money now.....konami reprint it all...NOW
never understood the issue with reprints. Its either a first ed or their has been a clear way to distinguish one from another. Like all the current reprints will be distinguished by the cooyright
I think it is actually a really good idea to reprint older sets. Why should older sets only be for people who either got enough money or are youtubers?
exactly, literally only hardcore collectors are gonna be mad about this but fuck em
Yeah I won’t lie this video kinda gave me a bad taste from Ruxin. It felt like he kept looking for ways to say this reprint is bad lol. It makes nostalgic cards even easier to get. The only way that’s bad is if you legit only care about card value lol.
Seems like Rux really doesn’t want this set in the hands of everyone, which is sad.
@@robertyoung15 no, his strange feeling comes from thinking that a not many players would be interested on this set, specifically due not high rarity cards in there (ghost rare, etc), and all of the cards in this set being not meta relevant.
OG card text and frames is insane. That was the biggest let down of the 25th anniversary reprints
Absolutely. Modern players enjoy having old cards that are usable in the new style art tho
Glad they listened to the fan feedback and brought the old style back and also fixed the platinum secret rare in rarity collection 2 xD
I wish they'd reprint the Dark Beginning and Dark Revelation sets.
More and more players are starting to play and enjoy older formats like Goat and Edison and some of the staples are becoming quite expensive.
Trap Dustshoot, Metamorphosis, cards like that. DB1&2 and DR1&2 had all of those.
I understand why collectors are looking at these reprints critically, but I personally have more fun actually playing historic formats than just collecting the respective cards.
Reprints like this are just one more step in lowering the barrier of entry for many more to enjoy playing these formats in the future.
I think they will release more older sets. They can't reprint everything at the same time, Retro Pack 2 will likely be next. What they really need to reprint is Legacy of Darkness (centered properly) and Labyrinth of Nightmare. Two sets that are often overlooked when it comes to reprints.
@@EgoChip I didn‘t say Dark Beginning and Dark Revelation will happen.
From a players perspective, those 4 sets would be the best sets to reprint, in my opinion.
Would be nice, will not happen.
DR05, DB3, DLG2 with rarity bumps and original templates
@@pppupu936 With the old card frames and original erratas. Would be very nice, yeah.
Baby wake up, Konami is gonna make bank based on my nostalgia (once again)
As someone who just likes to collect, this news is awesome. I always thought Retro Pack was so cool.
I love this because i am just collecting old school cards just for the nostalgia of the monsters, traps, magic based off old school packs and the duelist of roses game. So this is dope
The ONLY thing I want a “re-print” of is a SDK art blue eyes in NORMAL secret rare foiling.
It did lol but it's in the ka8ba briefcase
@@LumesideLside that's OCG secret rare I think he's referring to BPT secret rare
@@branbelmont326 yeah any secret rare you’d get from a pack or tin, not a parallel or prismatic
Labyrinth of Nightmare, Legacy of Darkness, Pharaonic Guardian, Magician’s Force, Ancient Sanctuary, Soul of the Duelist, Rise of Destiny, and Flaming Eternity could get reprinted and sell like hotcakes for Goat Format players.
This
Excellent news. The more reprints we get of the old sets, the better the enjoyment of old school players would be. Nostalgia sells so that's an smart move on Konami.
The copyright info should be different between the two prints
Remember, nostalgia sells well. People want to play old-school yugioh instead of the crap we got
Nothing is safe!
1st edition is all we have
@@MRkriegsuntil konami breaks that trust. Konami may be the first Konami in history to re-release sets in 1st.
@@DerKaiser123 well if they do that I think they just universally piss the whole community off
@@DerKaiser123If they would to that, you could still differentiate between the different 1st editions by inspecting the cardstock & print-patterns. MTG-Collectors do this all the time to spot fake cards.
I want them to reprint GX era sets the most. 1st Ed can keep the value but makes no sense for unlimited to. With stuff like this it gives a lot of people a chance to open and collect who never had the opportunity to do so
When you can't think of something new... reprint old stuff.
I like the idea of having old packs and decks more accessible thanks to these reprints
Legit bought a VLP retro pack 1 blue eyes on whatnot 3 weeks ago for $360 now the news of this comes out 😢
It will still be the original, but harder to differentiate now
Yep at least I have the og print of it now before the market gets flooded with listings of the new ones.
It has a different copyright and holo pattern so it shouldn’t lose too much value.
Konami is at the point that they reprint a reprint set... wtf
i mean they reprinted lob like 5 times already so yea
Konami lost touch with reality, and that's not good for the game, but it's good for people who want to open some older stuff, and for us goat players.
Anyone know if the copyright in the bottom will be the old 1996 as well? or the new 2020 style for Retro Pack 1 reprints?
2020
Won’t be the same as opening them back in the early 2000’s but will still feel great opening OG cards up
Why not just buy booster boxes or the individual cards of the 25th anniversary reprint sets? I don’t feel like reprinting this set makes any sense
Thank you for getting news out for reprints like this quickly
They should make this set first edition lmao
That would be funny
Dump everything and all in Air Neos its the only save haven 🤣🤣🤣
I hope they go back to the OG way of playing the actual game instead of winning in one turn.
As a kitchen table player and someone who isnt already holding on to every old card ever released like a lot of people seem to act on the internet. Im happy every time they make a card newly accessible to me. At the end of the day yugioh is a game and people need to get the game pieces in order to play. Some of these cards are cards friends in my circle dont have. They are cards new or returning players (they do exist) dont have. And we want them to play with them.
Ruxix, you completely missed the importance of the line "with the original text." This means that cards that have had erratas will have more paintings with the original text of how they worked at the time for retro formats. Meaning it will be a lot easier for newer players to those formats to know what a card does without having to look up what their effects were at the time.
I'm actually really happy about this. Over the last 3 years I've somehow collected all ultras/supers in English (including scapegoat somehow) from this set but never went near the secret rares due to their value. Now I can finally have a shot at finishing this set!!
Yeah but if you ever decide you want to sell your collection in the future it will be much harder to get back the money you paid for those ultras and supers!
@@rubal00 That's true, I defo paid under market price on most though, I got really lucky on ebay with sales. They also aren't NM so not even worth crazy amounts. Just a personal collection goal!
@@Mark_Griffinthis is the way bro. I recently got out of collecting and sold my collection of Pokemon and some yugioh. Scoped out ebay and got cards way under going rate and was happy to have them in a binder.
Whaaaaaaat?!
I mean if it's with the latest layout I don't really care, but for LODT they showed cards with the old layout if I'm not mistaken 👀
So now even collectible cards will hold no value... I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing
Did they actually use old print for lodt?
Yep, it's even pre errata.
@@ctusiard9755 there's no way. I hope they are kidding... It feels wrong. At least I hope the surface remains different
It will probably be like how we can tell the difference between 2017 legendary collection cards from original unlimited print
What about LON, LOD, MFC, ANC
You know, the other original sets they just ignored after first print and tins
I wish the initial 25th reprint sets were LOB through AST. Including starter decks Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, Pegasus, AND it would be super awesome if we could get a starter deck Mai, Tea, Rebekah, Bakura, Rex and Weevil, And Marik, Ishizu, and Odion starter decks as well.
It's definitely wishful thinking and really asking a lot, but I think if they're going to do a 25th anniversary celebration, they should go completely all out. It was extremely unsatisfying that we didn't get a reprint of LON, PGD, and especially MFC.
Maybe include alternate/ original art and even alternate rarity like possible ultimate rare variants of cards from all the sets before SOD.
Like I said, wishful thinking to the extreme, but imho, it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for a megalithic corporation like Konami. Especially since Yu-Gi-Oh is basically their flagship enterprise aside slots/video games.
Im sure the set codes will for sure separate the old vs new. Like the EN part of the set code.
This is going to be so much fun to open and play with my friends. I have been picking up the reprint boxes for fun with my buddies and am super excited to see more get reprinted. Maybe one day we can do a real progression series.
I never got to open this so I'll be glad if it's true. Light of Destruction is great but I opened so much of that so many years ago so I'm good with that set.
Wonder if the copyright will be Studio Dice or Kazuki?
I looked at the card list, and retro pack one is my favorite yugioh set off all time, if I ever buy a YuGiOh box it would be this one.
Edit: Now I saw the double pull and same classic look, now I am 99% sure I will get a box.
The place where I live we don't have Card Stores, or anything like TCGplayer to get individual cards, the closest thing we got was the 25th anniversary reprints of LOB and Metal Raiders, which had many great cards but also many not so great cards, but this double pull rate as well as putting all the great cards of the original sets in one place is perfect.
I wonder about the precedent it will set, as you mentioned at this rate nothing is off the table and kind of throws potential cards in question!
i'm a casual player who watched dm and gx through my younger days so i like these type of products and i like the upcoming rarity collection two as well so i can get blue eyes jet dragon, bingo machine go, exosister magnificas's for my exosister core a third alternative white dragon, and ultimate slayers for my collection
Do we have pre order links?
I just got my Secret Rare Amazoness Chain Master recently. Life is pain
Personally as a og series fan this makes me happy, my son loves these old school cards like me. So I can't wait to open these with him and build out his binder and get some old school decks built. And knowing the foils will be doubled in chance to pull makes me even more excited to get these.
Hope it comes out. The more reprints the better especially of old stuff! Would love a Legacy of Darkness. As for the better pull rate I'm all for it, this is a small side hobby for most people for nostalgia so not having to spend £1000 to pull a full set is nice.
I think people have to remember that the average person is not a sealed collector or trader.
I'm super excited to access older sets which I never got to open when I was younger.
Opening sets, drafting, playing customised decks with your friends based on what you pulled - that was the basis of Yugioh 20-25 years ago. We should celebrate that.
The less gatekeeping the better in my opinion.
I’m on the fence. It’s cool that I’ll get to open RP01 for the first time but man, this set felt like one of the safest bets in collecting.
This could TANK the holos in this set, that was a niche cool collector thing, for a bunch of cards that really didn’t need it.
We’ll see how it goes. Double pull rates too is something I’m not sure about either. Content is going to go hard though!
I really hope they reprint the old school sets that never got a reprint during 25th anniversary. If you want to open/collect stuff from Labyrinth of Pharonic you either buy those packs, which are like 30 bucks or more, or buy the reprint packs like Dark Beginning/Revelation, which are still 15-20.
my best thought is they could add a better square foil on the bottom right to show the difference just my thoughts
@Ruxin34, if you do a search for exodia, would you trade this 25th anniversary reprint set for a LoB 25th anniversary exodia reprint set?
imagine for some special edition of this they add red eyes dark dragoon in the old layout
I love that, because i colect old stuff, but doesnt have money for super rare and expensive cards like TP and RP, so this will be my chance to get some cards in especifics raryties
It's officialy listed on the US Yu-Gi-Oh! Homepage, so yeah it's coming!
I hope Europe gets the reprint too!
I'm a big fan of this set and bought a few packs back in the day. Also from Retro Pack 2, were I got a Victory Dragon in secret rare.❤
And a common Yata Garasu!
Sadly the Retro Packs were pretty short printed and not easy avaiable.
Hoping they can truly reprint these cards in the old style like they did with the 2016 Legendary Collection, but with some kind of way to differentiate like with the 3 stars.
I’m a collector and I have some expensive cards. However, I love when they reprint sets because it lowers the value of the older cards. I don’t think any piece of cardboard should be $100-$1000’s of dollars 😅
I'm pretty excited for this, feels like something that will be cool to collect. My biggest concern is that it will be the same thing as with the 25th anniversary reprint sets, where you are paying $5 a pack for a couple of 20 year old vanillas. Otherwise, it does seem like a nice nostalgia trip for anybody interested. It shouldn't be hard to differentiate, I assume the new ones will have the 2020 copyright instead of the 1996 ones so that will be an easy tell right there. As for previous owners getting confused, I might be off the mark here, but I can't imagine there are too many people out there who own cards from this elusive set that's been so hard to find yet aren't aware of their value by now. Surely a few old shoeboxes will be dug up with cards untouched for decades, but that's got to be an extreme outlier case at this point
Yes, it is good. Have fun opening up some parks, fill up a binder, and recap and reminisce
As long as they look like the original cards and not the 25th anniversary I'll be happy
I love this! I super love they doubled pull rates. This is for casuals and casuals aren’t going to enjoy the old school insanely hard pull rates
I can't fathom why somebody would be bummed they're increasing the pull rates for higher rarities. It's definitely a great thing. Not everyone has the money to pursue a hobby like Yu-Gi-Oh so liberally, especially outside the US. I dunno if this is releasing elsewhere as well but a couple booster boxes are worth a fortune where I live.
The OG RP01 will say Kazuki Takahashi at the bottom, the reprints will say the new stuff. So, easy to differentiate.
Won't one of the more obvious visual differences be the copyright? I can't see them printing these with the 1996 copyright...
I really hope they have new card stock foil type and level stars so it’s super obvious
I’m fine if this is real. HOWEVER, I would much rather have reprint sets of LON, LOD, PGD, MFC, and AST to go along with last years reprint sets.
I am not sure that thiese 5 sets will ever get reprint, exept for the AST (not much exciting set, so they can do that set at least), but others are just too valuable to get destroyed by reprint, something must still remain original.
I don’t understand this at all. But it makes me very curious to see what it will do to the original price of RP1. I’m very worried about people listing this reprint and not saying it’s a reprint. Idk how they’re gonna handle this. Maybe it will have a 25th stamp or something on the cards? I guess we’ll see.
Never opened any retro packs this might be fun
I’ve never had the luxury of opening this but I’m down for this! Can’t wait for it to be released
This could be cool for irl sealed play
Will this set and light of destruction be reprinted in the original card layout or with modern layout
If it's the moder card style it shouldn't affect the value of the cards too much like you see with the 25th anniversary reprints
Can’t wait for the Ruxin opening if that happens 😂
wont they just have 2020 studio dice instead of 1996 kazuki takahashi on the bottoms?
EVERY Yugioh Collector should be happy that we will get this reprint. I think the fact that you are not sure if you like it or not, really shows hwo much of a collector snob you have become.
As a goat player I'm hype, we can maybe do a draft tournament in 2024
Damn they are competing with the federal reserve to see who prints more...
In the old cards it's written ''1996 Konami'' at the bottom (something like that). Newer ones it is written ''2020 Konami''. That's one way for us to identify them
Anybody know the date of the release for these retro number one
I personally like this, I would love to get more BE and DM, hopefully they will release the set with the original DMG next.
In "that" yeras, in my country, a guy that had a yugioh and more store, bring to us some retro packs and no body(we we're young guys) and sell them...years later we realizado what rare that packs are, i would like to be reprinted , i don't know, maybe could be interesting hehe.
I just want an affordable way to get the original starter decks Y/K/J/P, from the time the game was basic and fun.
I prefer Retro Pack II for that Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. You're right, I don't think this set will sell since most of the cards are kinda meh. As for differentiating, the cards will probably have a different copyright at the bottom? Probably use the Studio Dice/TV Tokyo instead of Takahashi.
I want them to reprint the other classic sets before Cybernetic Revolution. They printed some of them in the 25th Anniversary boxes but I really want the others.
I think it'll be nice to open purely for nostalgia purposes, even though most of the cards won't really be playable. I don't mind the foil pull rate being doubled as I love shiny stuff, haha!
This is perfect for me who started collecting again after the 25th anniversary. I don’t really care about it getting reprinted. It’s a reprint set of a reprint set. We’ve had these cards 10x over now, so who cares?
At this point give us MFC reprint
Well, at first I was going to say "this will be like the LOB reprints, with the new version it won't be as bad" but then you mentioned that they're keeping the old school format. It is a really nice set to open or collect for us boomers or collector, but as a player, there's nothing useful that isn't in the reprint of the first 5 sets.
I don't know, I'm not sure about reprinting a reprint set... though if it comes here and it's worth the price I might get some hahah!
I like reprints it keeps the card game cheap on the secondary market and it keeps the card game more accessible to people in my opinion as well. And honestly do more good than harm the only people who get butt hurt about it are the people who try to upsell you on cars that aren't really worth that much.
I knew nothing was safe as soon as they reprinted ulti vanity fiend in ulti again. That was years ago.
well in my opinion is amazing set, not all card for collectors or goat format players but i dont know i am happy to see new reprint of graceful charity, to get one of it like smell like new makes me happy, also i mean exodia has so many prints that maybe this would make other opcion for getting exodia set for future advance game dedicated for exodia set game in the new box that will release soon... maybe what do you think about it?
I play Goat and love DM era cards, so everything they reprint from that era is incredible, but if they actually reprint Retropack it will be incredible
The cards look different. That doesnt bother u? It does me
Can they just make the reprint in the same format as the original cards? Not have the attribute & stars all foiled out...
Looks like a real cool collection of classic cards tho
Im down with this but im a collector not a player but ya this is weird i would have loved to have light of destruction here in the us
i just want the rest of the go sets magician force LOD LON and PGD please
hi i have retro pack series in my note book did not get the secret rares most of them if they do repint them then i will try to buy a box or 2 .
I don’t see how it could fill the hole in a collection. They look completely different to the cards printed in 2008 The cards made by Konami look so different (in my opinion worse) than the cards made by upper deck. Incredibly easy to tell the difference. I remember opening a pack of duellist revolution back in 2010 when the design changed. I thought they were fake. Stopped buying new cards made after that set. The upper deck cards were darker and more saturated. The konami cards look fake and dull. I know the upper deck split was for good reason but they should’ve kept the upper deck design and quality.
All I wanna get is the secret cyber harpie lady card from original retro pack 1
The foiling and dice signature. Nothing beats the foiling on older cards, they won’t approve the cost of the original foil or card stock.
The cards in this set have been reprinted so many times anyway, it makes no sense to reprint the entire set this way. On top of that, a lot of the “higher value” or “more collectible” cards from this set also have more accessible old foil printings. It’s not like the cards are inaccessible to every day collectors.
The problem with this reprint is it diminishes the actual collectability of the cards inside the set. A big part of what makes something collectible is its scarcity. If every card is as accessible as every other card, then no card is really “special” anymore, and nobody wants to collect things that aren’t special. At that point, everyone’s collection will look the same and it is no fun anymore. Things lose the wow factor. And this is not just for yugioh cards, it applies to any item that people collect.
Reprints like this are for those who cant afford to get into the originals. Its not taking anything away from collectors, just tapping into the market of the average nostalgia seeker, which is quite large at this point. Reprints of the classic starter/structure decks, and tins would be sick
This will be fun to open at least. Especially from an old school collector perspective, not a player perspective 😅
I wouldn’t say this is a rumor, considering it’s on the official Konami website
Tbh this is a good thing overall. Only bad for hardcore value collectors. Reprints purpose is to make something more attainable just for the sake of collecting it. I think its pretty cool
I guess also bad for comp ayers but there is almost no making comp players happy.
