I purchased your book as soon as it came out back in March on Amazon. Read it immediately an throughly enjoyed the read. I was down for 4 weeks from knee meniscus surgery. Sine have hiked The Shenandoah to Harpers Ferry. Hikers like yourself have inspired me to do more hiking/trekking. Also I hiked Old Rag last year in early April on a great. Thanks the post.

Oh yay I’m so glad that you liked it! And wow that’s amazing that you just had knee surgery not too long ago and have been able to get out for a long hike already! Happy Trails!

Good video. Sarsaspirilla, root beer, and cream soda used to make the best floats. I think that sarsaspirilla just faded away like many other things that we enjoyed in the 1960s. Was camping near Skyline Drive in 1976. A bear got very interested in our tent. Fortunately, it left. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

I still enjoy a root beer float from time to time! 😄 I remember trying sarsparilla when I was a kid and just thinking it tasted like root beer, which I didn't really like back then but LOVE as an adult. So I'd probably appreciate it more now haha. Cream soda was always a little too much for me. I can have a little but not a lot! And LOL glad that bear lost interest before any harm was done!

About 10 years ago I hiked old rag with my then 13-year-old granddaughter. Even then She was way ahead of me. Lovely video as always.

In about 8 total days of hiking in Shenandoah, I never saw a bear on the trail. But while shuttling a few thru hikers to let them do some slackpacking I saw at least six.

@@kennethschaidle5995 Ha! So apparently the Shenandoah bears just really like hanging out near the roads!

I was in Shenandoah NP back in 1963 (or thereabouts). I don't really remember much of it.
Sassafras tea is made from the root. I remember having it when I was a kid (again in the 60s), but not since then. Much more recently, in Rhode Island, I once saw a sassafras leaf with four lobes.

Surely a four-lobed Sassafras leaf must be good luck!! 🍀

Hey there. What a lovely surprise. Another hike I need to add to my list and so much fun to watch you do what you love. We need to hike together so we cannot see bears 🐻 together……😂😂. I’ve been all over the AT and other trails and. It seen one other than a paw print and scat😂. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️

Ha! So it's not just me! Have you done the AT section through New Jersey yet? That's where I had the most luck!

I didn't know that you live in Colorado. I'm the blonde nut that asked your friend if she was you at Trail Days. 😳 You did a video clip for Rick Ross for me. I looked for your booth; he said you were selling your book there this year, but I never found your booth? I wanted to get a book. It's so cool how the millipede was in the woodpecker hole. Very pretty footage! That shelter was definitely primitive. Beautiful hike! 😃

P.S. I've done the Shenandoahs, but never saw a bear. Only saw them in my car, same as you. 😄

Oh HI!! I do live in Colorado. Are you here also? Honestly as you were dashing away I thought, "wow I'd love to have that much energy" haha! That was my impression - not a nut, just full of energy bahaha. Yeah they had the authors based in the library this year so we were not the easiest to find! If you still want a book, I sell signed copies directly ($22 including shipping - just email me! audthepayne@gmail.com) and you can also get non-signed copies on Amazon and Kindle. :)
