Bristol international raceway had 36 degrees of banking 10 feet narrower than now an asphalt in the middle of the country side .this the real bristol.the worlds fastesthalf mile oval ..boss hogg bought it the state put a dam highway in an tore the mountains down around it for parking an bosshogg decided to make it 10 feet wider an drop the banking down to 24 degrees an ruin the place.atleast he didn't pur a dam dog Legg in the front straight to make it a mini Charlotte like he wanted to

But a racetrack loses it appeal when it just looks like a bowl... Seeing the nearby hills gave this track it's character. I think this track was at it best in the mid 90s in terms of seating capacity and yet still had enough openings to keep it's character in place too. Nothing wrong with 100,000 seats.

Wonder how today's cup driver's would do wheelin' on of these hot rods? I'm pretty sure a handful of them could....Kyle RowdY and Chase for sure.

      True indeed....
Many people don't realize that the fastest line around Bristol was in fact the high line in this time and earlier in the 80s back into the 70s...
Interestingly the concrete pave job actually saw Darrell Waltrip win by having his car run quite fast on the outside lane that night... Going into that race everyone thought the low line would be the key to winning that race. However from that race going forward the low line certainly became the fastest way around Bristol. That stayed the fastest way constantly all the way until the stupid decision to repave and change the banking in the turns...

Power steering means you’re losing about 7 horsepower in the car.

If the belt comes off the power steering pump, you gain horsepower.
