How Amanda used her hands to emphasize and reach out I thought was incredible. and encompassing.
Yes! Her delivery was the perfect complement to her lines.
I heard her say that her speech impediment drover her to use gestures to make her point. As you said we are all glad she did... 😁

Word isn't enough to express how I feel about this great American young woman....awesome. ..awesome. May our great God keep her and embolden her with greater wisdom and revelation. Her words was spiritual, physical, psychological and magical. America can't stop rediscovering herself especially in most difficult moments. Thank you Amanda....you are a rare gem to the world.
We agree completely, Joseph. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
"We've learned that quiet isn't always peace". For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them. 1 Thessalonians 5: 3. We all witnessed the forces of destruction on Jan 6.
Amanda Gorman definitely stole the spotlight, even though she was surrounded by great people her rising star was the brightest.

“We lay down our arms/ so we can reach out our arms “ Usually people resist to reach out their arms because they think they are better and Amanda Gorman proved she is the best.

When once we asked... how could we possibly prevail over catastrophe?
Now. We. Assert.
How could catastrophe *possibly* prevail... over US?
Me: *rabid fistpumping*
For the dawn blooms only as we free it.
For there is ALWAYS light, if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough... to be it.

I'm Brazilian. I was watching Biden and Harris' inauguration live on youtube. The event seemed to be over. Gaga, Brooks and J-Lo had sung, Biden's speech was the usual welcomed contrast with Trump's ego trips. I was going to turn off the tv when this unknown little girl appeared. The sun shone on this little fairy as she enchanted me with her hand movements following that continuous. melodic and rhythmic flow of rimed concepts. Harm and harmony, tired, tried and tied, shater and share, blunders and burdens. I was moved to tears, knowing I had just witnessed a historic blossoming. I hope we can be the light too.
Thanks so much for sharing this memory from Brazil, Claudia!
Nice sharing
Thanks so much!
Excellent initiative in your series.
Thanks so much, Natalie! We hope to put out a few more of these kinds of videos in the future.

Timeless piece like Van Gogh, there is light at the end of the tunnel after all. This is the chance for us to steer the wheels of history in our favor, people (be it black or white) we must listen and do better. This is our chance to right the wrong and live in peace.

Came here, added my mine to the 421 likes against 2 deplorable "don't likes"
Wow! First, Serena Williams best in tennis; Simone Biles best in gymnastics; and now Amanda Gorman best in poetry! Who's next? They put a smile on every face who watched them.
Thanks so much for sharing your response, Caribbean Girl!
Don't forget that Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and looked out at the Capitol and spoke those historic lines "I have a DREAM". Amanda Gorman, who looked out from the steps of that very same Capitol, was the embodiment of that dream made real. That her speech came 2 days after MLK's birthday on Monday the 18 is so symbolic. King should have spoke from the Capitol but in 1965 couldn't. But in 2021 a "skinny black girl, descended from slaves" could and did . You can literally draw a straight line from were Lincoln sits through were Martin Luther King stood to were Amanda Gorman stood to were the Capitol stands. Lincoln stood on the very spot where Amanda stood in 1865 and said "with malice toward none and charity for all". These three Americans, Lincoln, King and Gorman all spoke words not of anger and revenge but of forgiveness and hope.: This was proof that "His truth is marching on". The pen truly is mightier than the sword!!
Yes! We love this post and we completely agree, squidkid2. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and for providing this important context!
Squidkid, your review of Miss Amanda Gorman's magnificent poem, address, presentation at the inauguration of the 46th President of the U,S., Joe Biden on the afternoon of January 20, 2021, was the most spot-on for me. You captured so much of the historical significance of her work when you bring together Lincoln, MLK and Miss Gorman. That was in itself quite brilliant and her work all the more relevant. Thank you, and there are no words adequate enough for sweet and anazing Amanda! 👏
@@ileniepowell We agree! Thanks so much, squidkid2!
