I am so impressed by Abbi Jacobson. She is so smart and so damn talented! When League the film came out, I was getting divorced (from a man) I had a one yr old, and I was about to meet a woman who would change my life. Fast forward to 2022, I am a gay mom to a gay daughter who LOVES Broad City. We watched a animated film, The Mitchells vs the Machines, that Abbi voices a queer charecter (which is mind blowing to me, I'm in my 50's, so seeng an out gay charecter in a kids animated film is, well, I had to stop the film and cry a bit,) together, and even thought my kid is grown, I am older, we it means so much to us to see that film (I wish he had brought that up) because I have great-nephews and nieces that have watched the film, and they are like "oh, that girl is gay like cousin "K", and Aunt Lisa. I have a couple of nieces who are a little small for the movie, they are at the Blues Clues stage, so I bought a copy to give to them, and for them to see someone in their cartoon who is like their relitive is amazing...but back to League. The film was amazing, you can't get much better than Penny Marshall and Tom Hanks. This interview had to be done a while ago, because League the series is out...I LOVE Dylan's way of describing the series vs the film...the camera is there, they just turn it a little to show us a different story. When I saw the film, I was finially ready to be who I was, but it was not until I watched it with my first series GF that I was like "there has to be gay women in that lockerroom." Now, no spoilers, but, we get to see other stories that were happening, and because a few decades have passed, Rosie came out publicy, Ellen came out on TV and in real life, we have had Will & Grace become a HUGE hit, and will always remain a classic...we have had Callie and Arizona on Greys and many other charecters and couple...so, NOW, we get to see stories of what was going on in a time when women played baseball, and how bringing groups of women together who have a love for the sport, opens their eyes to things like racism, homophobia, and possibly so much more. Will Graham & Abbi Jacobson have created sometime that I think I have waited a lifetime to see. Yeah, we had the L Word, and now have the reboot, Gen Q, and those are great. But this is a completely different way of story telling, if you are even thinking about watching that series, PLEASE DO. It is smart, hilarious, heartwarming, heart breaking. I loved hearing that it was supposed to he a sitcom, but they asked them to rework it because they wanted an hour long show. I think with a sitcom we would have had less of a story...we would know less about the charecters, and we, as the audience, might not be as invested. I sat down in early evening to watch one or two episodes, and watched the entire series. It was dawn when I went to bed. My daughter started watching the day it came out, and watched half the first night, and the rest the next night. We are going to do something that I have can't remember ever doing, that is watch it again, right after watching it the first time, but with my daughter. So many things we can discuss and so many things I want to know about the women who played baseball, and I am not a sports fan. I just love the family they form, and the story with the other charecter Abbie mentions, so many times we get a show with more than one story, you have a lead story, and a minor story that is not as important...not this show. The entire thing is amazing
I have watched several Ted Talks, and I love the ones with actors, musicians that I have loved for years, but I am jsut now getting into Abbi's career. I have ony seen parts of episodes of Broad City. Dylan Marron is such a smart interviewer. He is so prepaired, has done so much research, has questions ready that spark great conversation (which is harder than it looks.) Evern when he asks her "yes or no" questions, he has responce to what ever her answer is, and can turn that into conversation. I am not fimilar with his CZcams...but this young man should be on TV. He is better than many of the talk show hosts that are paid big bucks. I think the thing I liked the most about Dylan is that he really seems to be a fan of who he is interviewing. Being the fan of a person, or at least of what that person does, makes an interview. Faking it shows, and ends up with horrible interviews. I watch a lot of music interviews and reaction videos, so more of that type of thing is always in my recomendations...I happen to love the band Heart, I have had so many youtube videos that are either discussing songs or they have made a mini documentry and they have so much WRONG. In this day and age, information is out there, and easy to find, so there is no excuse for terrible content. I will look up Dylan Marron. Sorry I have written an book, I am old and I have not got the hand of social media and commenting one sentence, especially on something that is an hr long, and something I am so excited about.
Amazing interview! Great questions Dylan and Abbi, she is brilliant!

All the feels for youuuu I remember seeing League the movie as a kid & Fried Green Tomatoes too I was so excited for those movies but I didn't understand whyTHE TENSION OHHH and now this series is all we ever needed and wanted, the true stories of racism & gays, she's making history I hope and wish Abbi queers up all the beloved classics

@@ahveganpizzabella Fried Green Tomatoes is the only film that I REALLY wanted to go back and watch it as soon as I walked out of the theater. This was back when you had to wait nearly a yr for things to come out on video and most people did not buy videos, they rented them. I had a friend at a video store order an extra copy of the movie, so I could watch it over and over, and not have to return it. I paid $60 for it, and that was a lot back then. I think the League the series, gives us exactly what the film didn't. Different stories. I recomment it to everyone. All my straight friends are loving it...they text me and say "girl crush on Carson, or Greta or Max.." LOL

Incredible interview, felt like I was there in the room. So much love to Abbi, she's an amazing writer and I hope the industry follows more of her projects. Just finished A League of Their Own and to me, it was the most amazing series this year, so fresh and new with a sense of nostalgia in it. Much much love, Abbi Jacobson we will be supporting.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this tv series! I've binged through it a couple of times already! I am an older "boomer", white, queer, and as a young athlete I totally related to the hiding of my queer self. The hiding of same-sex relationships as a young woman growing up and even now with all of the progress that has happened, it's still so important - REPRESENTATION MATTERS! I especially appreciated the bar scenes, the code words and the real fear of violence by "being out". XOXOXOX Keep these stories coming in whatever venue you choose to work in! XOXOXOXO
