  • Yessuh! This is another older video that has music in it where a third world butthead had posted a illegitimate music copyright claim against one of my videos using that same music piece, even though I had the proper permissions and licenses. It’s too much time and trouble to fight it through CZcams. So this time around, I decided to head them off at the pass, so to speak. I have once again pulled the original video and re-edited it with music from the CZcams Audio Library before the bonehead tries to steal more money. These thieves can go pound sand!
Here’s the video description as it appeared in the original video (Posted Nov 15, 2019):
May 2022 Update Statement: Several people think there is not sufficient ventilation, however if you have watched the videos, you should note that when the generator is in use, both the front and rear access doors (both doors are essentially the full size of the front and rear walls) are wide open. There is sufficient overhang of the roof plus the location of the generator that keeps blowing rain and snow from getting on the generator. It's been years since this enclosure was built and put into operation without any problems. If you still have your doubts, then move on and do something else. No whiners, please!
Part 2 of the Portable Generator Enclosure Build - A (very) long time in coming! I have to apologize for the delay. The weather turned sour last year and it just got too cold, followed by heavy snow and ice for me to continue. As a result, the framework stood empty and the generator lived in my shop, taking up valuable space.
I almost didn’t get to finish enclosing the framework for this winter, as I have been concentrating my efforts on building my new 18’ pocket cruiser sailboat (featured in my last several videos). I finally got to it, and just in the nick of time. As soon as I finished enclosing the framework, a cold front moved in, temperatures plummeted well below freezing, and was accompanied by snow and ice.
The free plans give the general dimensions for the framework as I designed it for my generator. You may have to alter the dimensions to better fit yours. No plans are necessary for the work of sheathing the framework in Part 2 as the dimensions are essentially the same as in the plans for the framework, but you can easily take measurements directly off the work as needed with your tape measure.

Loved that you recycled stuff you had on hand.👍👍 I'm doing something similar...making a gen shed out of a used shipping crate.

I'm assuming the generator runs with the doors open to allow air circulation for the exhaust to vent?

I'm thinking that if it isn't painted it would fall apart...no?

No. After the past few years of use, it's still solid. That being said, I would have used exterior plywood or some other material, but I used what I had on hand that was leftover from other projects or given to me by local contractors. My projects usually involve materials already on hand where I don't have to spend any money. If this were to fall apart though, it doesn't owe me anything and I've had a few years of use out of it. 👍👍👍
