Something different but certainly interesting. All you need now are some period figures to go with it. Good job.
New found respect for CZcams's premier model builder doing a metcalfes kit!! Who doesn't love a card kit for Christmas? Well done, sir! Well done!
Edit; very Skipton Castle 😉
I really enjoyed watching you build this and I’m going to take a look at what other kits they do as I can see this being a lovely, low stress project. I love the way they build up depth but then hide the card layers with the caping stones etc. Thanks as ever for sharing your builds with us.
Once again great work, thanks for sharing. I build aircraft as a rule but this seems really fun and different plus no painting, weathering and airbrush cleaning. Stress free! Great work! Take care
Love metcalfe models - so much fun to make and the final structures are strong - although the chimneys are always getting knocked off :-)
Nice change of pace. Doing the entire castle would be something. Cheers Stu NZ
"Made in Yorkshire, which can't be bad" - what a great strap line. Different and enjoyable build vid 👌
Some great stuff, quality in a box.
That was one of most clever things I ever saw in scalemodelling world. ;) All the best for You! ;)
Thank you very much!
only just found your channel top work thank you
A very clean build of a great kit👍🏼 Metcalfe have really lifted card buildings to a new level with well designed kits and great instructions
Totally agree 👍
Fantastic refreshing change to plastic kits, thoroughly enjoyed that , thank you so much
I'm planning on building more at some point.
Those are some substantial walls for a card model.
I love how you can take something that starts out essentially flat and turn it into a convincing three dimensional structure…...would be cool to see this in a diorama.
Fun. We all need to relax, this is a hobby. Cheers.
Great stuff. Thanks for heading off the beaten track with this one.
Great model Greg, they say that variety is the spice of life. Keep up the good work and best wishes
Would make an excellent Christmas gift. Glue, some clamps and a decent cutting blade. Nice change of pace.
Excellent. Much better quality than some of the foamboard models of ships, houses etc. I sometimes build.
I'd love to get my mitts on some of these!
I got the whole castle for Christmas last year; just a change from the normal kits I use on my railway. I'm now in process of completing a diorama using a range of mediaeval siege weapons and soldiers - may have it done by Christmas 2022! Love your channel Greg!
Thanks Vince
That’s such a cool model, and great to see something different!!
wow that's fantastic, Im going to have to look out for something like this and give it a go, Thanks for sharing Greg
Been making Metcalfe kits for years both in OO and N gauge they are brilliant. Always fit well and are super easy.
I would highly recommend you get some deluxe materials rocket card glue if you ever make any more. It’s like super glue for card, dries almost instant and is incredibly strong.
Great job and model, kind regards from Australia.
Very nice and realistic.
loved it brilliant video thank you
Hi Greg, What a lovely little build. Its been a pleasure to watch you make this nice looking castle. It looks like you could use these types of building kits in diorama settings. Thanks mate.
A totally different build but really enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't have considered doing something like this but after seeing it finished I'm impressed. Gonna go check these out. Cheers Greg!
We created that castle on our layout as well 😊
Nice video, not too much stating the obvious which is good, and a great result. I've now looked at the Metcalfe range, and would be happy to use them in any modelling projects!
Looks really realistic. Good stuff. You can be king of your own little castle now 😉
What a fab' model and build. It has reminded me that I have their 'Industrial Building' somewhere; I shall dig it out and finally build it. I do hope you do more of these Metcalfe models, but I appreciate there are so many models and so little time ;-)
I can see a lot of model knights, knowing how you like figure painting!! Definitely going out on a wing here mate.
That's an interesting new direction Greg, and on your next visit to the shop, you walk out with a length of OO track as well as the next castle components.....that's how it started with me. It's a slippery slope my friend.........but an enjoyable one because you get to use all of your modelling skills on a project that becomes an operational diorama. Great build as always mate, and you didn't have to clean the airbrush once!
So enjoyable, glue, knife, and some good music playing in the background 👍
That is really cool!!!
May be some figures now ! Regards Gav.
Very good. Interested to see other parts of the castle
Never seen that before bit different interesting tho think you can do follow with virtual water moat diorama just shows how easy you make it look thanks Greg stay safe jon
Great job Greg. I always enjoy your videos buddy - so de-stressing. I agree with Stu from NZ regards the construction of the whole castle down the line, but then maybe with the addition of say a 1:72 Lancaster or Mosquito buzzing it in a low-level flypast? Sorry if that’s tacky!...
😂👍
Excellent Stuff. So grand to see this Paper Maquette come to life. I am looking for a decent representation of the Chateau d'Hougoumont Farm. I will check out your link. Fingers crossed. Cheers Greg.
I must admit when you said 'a fortress with turrets' I was expecting a B-17... What to call it? How about 'The Flying Buttress? Nice relaxing build, looks really good quality kit - great results (again), cheers!
love it . lol .
Nice video. Rather than a flexible cutting mat to keep things flat, have you considered sheets of glass? I’d strongly recommend some form of toughened glass of course. I have an A4 sheet of glass from an old, broken, home scanner
Just a thought re the areas to be kept clear of glue. Could they be masked like clear parts of a plastic model, just in case of accidents.
One thing I was wondering is given that this is card do you think you could use something like a blunt butterknife to indent the mortar lines between the bricks to give it a more three dimensional feel?
Yes
Did you find the tackey glue was ok for this any problems? I’ve been using rocket.
Nothing stands out.
So now you have to make a model railway to go with it?? Airfix make some OO scale models also.
P.s. its Portcullis... no T 😉
Just a comment
for the algorithm.
