Good to see that some old trades have found their way to a new generation. My first job when I left school was Shoe Making. All hand made from scratch. That was 32 years ago. There are few craftsmen left, good to see your skills and expertise. Keep it up.

Such craftsmanship. I would never put a heel on a wedge soled boot but just my preference. I’ve had my Thorogood moc toe wedge sole boots resoled many times. Had them for close to 9 years and just clean and polish them and change out the insoles. Love watching these videos.

Jay Teverzczuk agreed. Wedge soles rock for those types of boots. I have a pair of wedged boots I would like replaced but not sure if they have wedge soles laying around at shoe smiths or at my local peach cobbler.

Brian, it seems like all the videos that I have watched of yours, you pull and replace the welt. I have not seen all your videos, but many of them. Is this industry standard? Is it a personal preference? Is it a craftsman standard practice? Should the welt always be replaced? Is it ever proper to leave the welt? Thanks for your videos, I love them.

Question for you, why didn't you put the same type of sole back on the red wings? Did the customer ask for that type of sole that you put on? It changed the entire look of the boot and I'm not sure I like the look that the new sole gives the red wings.

how do you recondition the beat and worn leather? Do you just polish and coat it till its refreshed or is there more to the process? I recently had a pair of Haix boots referb by a company Haix uses and it was amazing to see the work and then I stumbled on your youtube and i get to see some of it at work too. Awesome job on the videos and the resoles we get to see you do.

I like your channel. Takes me back to my days as a cobbler. You might want to consider mixing the music a bit lower though.
Also I noticed that you seem to resole everything the same. If the owner had said they wanted a new set of white foam soles lkke the boots originally had would you do it?
