I didn't get to watch the final season. I was sick and slept through it. Very pissed in fact, so thank you so much for posting, I had no idea what happened. Was this the ending?
Yeah it occurred to me how much Jimmy has grown since season 1 meanwhile Gretchen is the same old Gretchen with her lying, lack of compassion, lack of motivation, blaming her mother, using her mental issues as an excuse once again. She couldn't even tell Jimmy she wanted to marry him! All this season, Jimmy has been loving, caring, putting Gretchen's need first, jumping through Gretchen's hoops, sensitive, even romantic.
Sure, Gretchen and Jimmy were alike when they were boyfriend and girlfriend and they seemed to belong together, but as a married couple especially since Jimmy has matured yet Gretchen seems to have arrested development, stealing Edgar's meds, feigning anger, freaking out when a potential friend accepted her for who she was, but she sabotaged that friendship, no thoughts of how she'll have to change when she becomes a wife. I totally agreed with Edgar. They've become a mismatch. Gretchen seems to sabotage everything and Jimmy refuses to see Gretchen's destructive behavior. Jimmy has become an enabler. So I hope Jimmy listens to Edgar, cos he can't be an enabler forever. Hope they repeat the episode tomorrow at 9:30pm. That's all I wish for.
