- Patience is one of those qualities we all need in our lives, but we’re not born with it. We have to cultivate it over time.
In this message, Dr. Stanley tells us how to develop patience so we can make wise, profitable decisions, build strong, lasting, loving relationships, enjoy the favor of God, and be happy with ourselves.
Take inventory of your life. How would you answer these questions?
- Where are you in your ability to be patient in difficult, trying times?
- How do you react when you find yourself being impatient?
- What feelings do you experience when you’re impatient?
- What negative consequences have you experienced in the past when you’ve been impatient?
- What beliefs do you have that block your ability to be patient?
- What new beliefs would help you gain a sense of patience with others?
- What behavior needs to change in order for you to be more patient?
You can’t just pray for patience. It’s a fruit of the Spirit that takes time, energy, and effort to develop, and it grows as a result of your faith and perseverance through hardships. At the center of it is a belief that God is in absolute control of your life. Will you trust Him to turn your difficulties into opportunities to develop patience?

Recognize difficulties as opportunities to develop patience. Yes!
Being a Christian isn't being perfect. It's about the change of direction of one's path. Many walk in the path of death but when Christ enters into our lives, we start walking towards life. You don't change instantly but you start healing slowly but surely.

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit, developed by G'd. If we yield, we are bound to become patient. That is what I believe and I've seen a change in me. I will be having surgery and so I need prayers to be patient in the process of healing, which from what hear will take months and the initial pain, will also take a while to subside. Generally, I have no patience when it comes to that but I am trusting Jesus to get me through, which will be a miracle, a modern day miracle for sure. I heard your message on TV this morning and it reminds me that the inner workings of being patient is His work. Otherwise since 1972, I am far more patient. Thank you in advance for your prayers.
Charlene, thank you for sharing your comment. I too struggle in this area of developing patience. As someone who battles chronic pain and has had health conditions slowly rob me of my physical abilities over the years as well as mobility and the same independence I used to have. I would like to offer you a bit of powerful information I have learned that has kept me from ending up bed ridden and bitter like many who are battling my same diagnoses.
1) Words are powerful! Speak the results you want over yourself and your life even on your worst of days when it seems impossible. God brought this entire world into existance by His words being spoken. Your words hold great power.
2) Concentrate on what you are able to do. Not what you can't do. If you can move any part of your body then do that, if you can sing, draw, think, speak, write, watch, tell, create, etc. Concentrate on all the things you can do.
3) Begin a gratitude journal. Wake up and thank God for making it a beautiful day. For allowing you the life you have to see the beautiful day He has made for you to enjoy. Thank Him in advance for your surgery going so well, for your healing going so well and your recovery going so well. For your strength and energy being restored better than it was before. Ask for what you need and want and thank Him for it after that and then keep a seperate prayer journal for all the prayers He has answered for you. Write in your gratitude journal all the little things and big things each day you are greatful for. This will create a change within you.
Also if you are stuck in bed and need an activity. I suggest diamond painting. You can order the kits on Amazon. There are all kinds of pictures available. They are very easy to do. They come in various sizes and shapes. They give you that sense of accomplishment you need. You can have music on or a movie on or have a conversation while working on it because you don't have to be hyperfocused whie you work on it. You can start and stop as you want. They are affordable and come with everything you need in the kit. Their great for all ages.

Haha patience is obviously what God is working on me ! This is the fourth sermon I've gotten about it. He's right...I do need it. I pray I learn it quickly! I don't like those hard lessons.. haha then I listen. 🤣 yes as I said let me learn quickly because those lessons he gives is tough to handle. Looks like he's telling me I've learned now do it. Trust in the spirit to help me. Got it! He's so good to me.. every day
I learned to be patient because if I don’t I have to go around the mountain again . Fasting gives me more patience .

Kinda sounds like, I have to tolerate anything, anyone says to me. Does to me? Always forgive, have patience with lesser intelligence. Also have tolerance and understanding with those that wanna talk slick, think they are smarter. Put people down, for past actions. Am I in a toxic relationship?? I love her so much!! But sometimes.... I renovated our whole home! Thinking let make her happy. Day or 2, back to the same behavior.

I really needed this message of patience today. This week my boss went off on me for not taking the vaccine 💉 I told him I’m not going to take it because I have faith in Jesus to protect me from illness. Well he REALLY let me have it! He called me stupid and selfish and swore at me several times, he even threatened to fire me. I stood firm and just told him that’s fine do what you will God will provide me with another job. I cried 😢 a little bit in the bathroom but quickly was made calm with the Lord’s peace and comfort. I will continue to focus on Jesus no matter what happens 🙏🏼💜🕊

Jesus Christ loves you, so much that He died for you on the cross, to pay the penalty of your sins so that you wouldn't have to. We all have sinned and are deserving of God's wrath, but by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross there is full pardon for whoever believes. Put your full trust and believe in Him for salvation today, because in Him there's eternal life and freedom. Who the Son sets free is free indeed 🙏🏻
