This is the best ever of the Colbert questioner 👏👏👏 Sting is just so classy so friggin cool 😎
This is the best I've ever seen! Tantra
This comment got me roped in because I thought Jeff goldblum took that title a little while ago. And after watching it I have to agree but I suspect he saw the questions beforehand because he answered so quickly
@@robsvideos227 So did Jeff Goldblum in my opinion.
Its because a) he’s Sting and b) he’s English
Keanu did a good one
Real complement when Sting calls your band great. The man is a legend.
was there no live performance of Sting that night?
I so agree with him! Best band on television!
Sting recognized the homage they gave him, playing those last notes by saxophone that reminded him of "Englishman in New York" ;)
Compliment*
Dear Maf 1532: One reaches an American co-host's heart by his band. Sting or other artists may unite with a musician who was in Colbert's band -- or Carson, Arsenio or Kimmel, etc.: something to cherish, attach to, and social engineer for the long term: Networking bliss.
This man knows himself well and has a soul of a poet
A musician, answering from the feeling, emotional mind.
Least favorite smell... "FEAR." Brilliant answer.
I love the look they exchange after Sting said he could smell fear.
Sting was the BEST one EVER to take that quiz!! His answers were perfect!
"More of the same, please."
Perfect answer!
Except we are bound for hell without Jesus. Accept his payment for sin and escape the wrath of the father.
When your name is one word, coolness is a prerequisite.
A club is not the best sandwich
@@guitartrashman . Oh shut up.
These answers are TOO good. Throw: caution, smell: fear, sound: silence.
Because rehearsed....
@@planestrainsdogsncars4336 I agree, but as good as Sting looks … if he told me it was spontaneous - I would 100% believe him!
i thought he said cushion haha im probably projecting
He was TOO quick at times.. Colbert even stares him down a few times as to say.. that was pretty absolute…
He is the ZEN MASTER.
MAN, those were some of the best Colbert Questionnaire answers, bravo!
The blue leather jacket is breaking my brain... it's looks sooo damn good on Sting!... Love it! Great questionert as usual!
He had me at “club” sandwich LOL.
Exactly. Finally someone answered the sandwich question correctly.
Best med? "Club"
Gotta love him! At his age pulling off the rock look. Love the blue leather jacket. And Sting's responses to the questionnaire, both funny and profound. And so very British.
Alas he rather let the bloody side down when he said coffee, Tea is the preferred drink of the Nation....lol
@@gazbradster : The smell of tea?!
Meh, he said espresso. Very strong scent. Tea doesn’t have the same powerful aroma.
Sting is EASILY my favorite celeb to ever do the Colbert Questionert. That was fantastic.
Fields of gold by him will always be a favorite.
Yesssss, such a beautiful song
To No Tea Shade: The 1970s and early '80s "Police." were some of his better musical years. The new wave/punk rock generation was an epoch to laud and relish.
"fear" is probably the best answer for that question. What a legend.
To Marico Couto: I thought he said "Feet."
Wow! Everyone else takes the "What you should throw out" question more literally while Sting got all spiritual. I don't know why I'm surprised. It's just such a great answer.
That dude was doing ayahuasca in South America with shamans before it was trendy
This was literally the best. Sting is so damn cool and handsome and witty.
I hear he can hold off giving an answer for like, a looooong time.
He sure didn't hold off in the questionnaire 😏
glad i didn’t have a drink in my mouth rn, would have spit it half way across the room!
😆
New Message - Like 9 hours (allegedly). You and i must be about the same "vintage"
Sting answering the "Questionnaire" = Smoooooth!
To Teresa: At 3:57 minutes:
The word "fear" is synonymous with bad smells. ------------------- One can even go deeper regarding a woman wearing ugly black socks and sneakers: The dreaded thought of removing them. How those dirty yarms in the street can steal sneakers (shoes) is beyond me.
I was the local technical director of one his concerts here in the Philippines, the Back to Bass tour. The front act were local singer/musicians Ice Seguerra and Mike Villegas. His tour manager heard them play and brought Sting to the side of the stage and he listened to them for the whole set. Truly a man who appreciates good music.
Wow! Thank you for sharing!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I remember going to a (one of many) Sting concerts in the mid-90's, and his opener was Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. I knew who Lyle was (probably because he was briefly married to Julia Roberts around that time, I think) and that he was a country musician, but I didn't know any of his song. Well let me tell you this. His 40-50 minute set completely sold me on his music! Yes, he was country, but NO, he was nothing like the country you would hear on the radio at the time. I can't even explain his flavor of country music. It was/is unique, to say the least! Anyway, I'm not sure if Lyle was actually on tour with Sting that summer, or if they just happened to meet up at the same time in my city for that night, but Sting absolutely loved Lyle and even had Lyle join him during his own set on a couple of songs. It was awesome! Sting truly does appreciate good music/musicianship, and we as the audience greatly benefited from that!
I was his booker for that tour in Lebanon. He did the same thing in Beirut, we brought in a street tableh player for his performance of desert rose.
@@nadiam2853 Do you mean tabla?
Hands down the best Colbert Questionert ever. All the answers are next level
To Nicole Khan: At 3:57 minutes: Sting even sounded stoic and profound when he answered ... "Feet."
sounds prepared tbh
And, of course, totally rehearsed.
@@martinw245 it's a show and most shows require rehearsals for things to go smoothly and appear proper on our screens (just like sports).
that being said, he's a poet of sorts, of course his answers have a different flavor than let's say the answers of a news anchor or scientist, or athlete, etc...
i love how pretentiously hilarious he is....like a self aware caricature of a british person
Nah, sting is from Newcastle, he's very untypical of blokes from up here.
Wow! I really liked that "caution" answer.
That was a really good one. Sting knows his stuff.
3:58 the way Stephen looked at him after he told his least favourite smell was “fear” 😂
To Tresor Kuh: He gave that erudite philosophical countenance upon this question. Actually -- The word fear is synonymous with bad smells. ------------------- One can even go deeper regarding a woman wearing ugly black socks and sneakers: The dreaded thought of removing them. How those dirty yarms in the street can steal sneakers (shoes) is beyond me.
Sting ... legend entertainer .... hilariously funny .... super wonderful .... simply awesome!!!
What do you own that you really should throw out?
Sting: Caution
Me: ROCKSTAR❣️
Possibly the best answers yet! What a legend.
Sting always looks like he doesn't want to be there lmao
Sting looking chill and cool as ever! I think he was prepared for the questionnaire because those were GREAT answers!
Questionnert
Sting is just ageless. He loos fabulous and is the epitome of cool!
Two of the coolest dudes ever.
@Wary Trout Hahahaha lemme guess - millennial? Hahahaha
Man, Sting is such a sharp bastard. Imagine this guy would be a teacher in school his whole life.
Sting and Jeff Goldblum's are by far the best of these
I like John Freaking Oliver one ...
Such inventive, indepth quick answers, you know it's truth. No wonder he's such a great songwriter.
Sting effortlessly gave the classiest answers ever to the Colbert Questionairt. Gotta love that legend of a man.
Thank you for bringing us a little heaven through your music!
How is it possible that I love him even more
Anybody who can answer "More of the same, please" to the life question is one very happy person!
I was three years ago at a concert in the front row. It was incredible. He still got it.
I'd be honored if some Sting fans would give a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal CZcams performances of his classic compositions WHY SHOULD I CRY FOR YOU and ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK in tribute to the master. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Happy holidays and stay safe.
Me too! It killed my legs but it was amazing
I 🤔 I just saw an acting class held
by Sting & Colbert, bravo. 👏 ♥ 👏
Sting was once a teacher, so he's smarter than the average celebrity. Great voice too.
ohh was that the inspiration behind "dont stand so close to me"
Since when are teacher's smart??? Want to glide through College? Education major.
@@chopagain739 Haha! I was thinking the same thing.
@@chopagain739 He was trained and taught in the U.K.
@@dalriadaskillen And??
"The sound of silence"
And this is just one more reason why I love this man.
Cats - I have cats and I’m terrified of them. So are my dogs. 😻
Loved his short and sweet answers and his attitude and blue jacket.
Yep, his jacket - that shade of blue is perfect.
@@22Phantasm 👍🏻YES
To BatGirl: Sting's answer to this was the classic banter or irony.
**of.
The ironic point was: something so cute and cuddly as a cat, can create concern even for the more powerful as you and me, humans, dogs -- and Sting.
Bravo Sting, absolutely epic.
sting is the complete opposite of goldblum. he's terse. and it's amazing how funny he can make a singularly syllabic word.
It is AMAZING how much Sting looks like Gordon Sumner CBE. Mind boggling, it is.
I loved Sting before but I love him more now. He's genius with a voice.
He had the best answer for, "What happens when we die?" I've heard to date. Also when he said, "Caution" I was like that was legend! "Fear" was also a very legend answer.
I want to believe he didn't know the questions and that he IS just that cool, confident, and legend...which I mean he is all those things...but it IS tv too.
He's not an actor and if he were prepared ahead of time, he'd have to act.
@@FixNewsPlease Hi, welcome to show biz. 🥂
@@krcmaine I worked in the industry for 34 years. I can tell you preparation on a talk show is of the technical kind, not contextual. Spontaneity sells.
@@krcmaine I hope you didn't like your own comment.
@@FixNewsPlease he actually is an actor.
These answers are incredible.
I was not expecting such great and often profound answers. This was definitely worth watching!
We can all be profound with rehersed answers.
He was an English literature professor. Which is also why he can write lyrical songs. A voracious reader.
@@denniszenanywhere I did not know that ! Thanks for the insight; it is a quite interesting fact ! And... your response made me re-watch this segment, which I thoroughly enjoyed, once more !
You're welcome. He has always been a good interview subject along with his former drummer bandmate, Steward Copeland.@@dojinho
Two witty men-love them both!!
Sting you’re a legend! ❤
Amazing Sting, so smart and classy
According to urban myths, Sting glows blue in the presence of orcs...
That jacket was awfully blue... does Steven have orc blood? The scandal!
@@JakobNoone Huh, I only just realized that 😄.
Sting’s Colbert Questionnaire is the best one ever! Best answers, great reactions!
To Erica Wentz: At 3:57 minutes: Sting even sounded stoic and profound when he answered ... "feet."
I admire him more and more every time I see him. You too Stephen 🙃
Love the Geordie twang to his accent
Wow, he had some great answers. Interesting that one of the most decorated musicians would choose to live in silence rather than listen to only one song
My favourite one so far.
A few years back my kids asked me what happens when we die and when I shared the philosophy of, “no one knows but it could be exactly what happened before you were born… which is why it’s important to enjoy some moments of each day and create a little goodness wherever you are” they relaxed a LOT.
Fear! Legend.
You can’t smell fear but it’s real and twists your stomach, great answer Sting!
Of course you can...
Ladies and gentlemen, that is a master in class.
He nailed it in each and every question….
I can't stand him, but he really did. Now I think he's a damn Jedi, lol.
Sting gave Stephen those Harkonnen eyes, he could smell his fear, and he WILL kill him, unless there's a cat around.
_Arcane_ was the best surprise of the year and the song by Sting closing the finale was the cherry on top. I wanted to cry.
_“Don’t cry. You’re perfect.”_
I like that there's no hesitation. He just bangs out his answers.
The best responses I have heard yet. He is too cool for words, kudos.
His answers are so profound!! and what green humor, too!!
So thankful Colbert is making these smaller artists known.
Smaller?!?
So thankful that Colbert's channel is making smaller commenters like you not known.
@@ToniHinton Woooosh!
@@thomasalva9263 Woooosh!
@@justsaying14 Not woosh, your sarcasm just sucks and so does your sense of humor.
Dude looks fantastic.
100% best responses ever. Sting. Is King.
That’s the _FIRST CLUE_ Stephen has _EVER GIVEN_ about the number he’s thinking of! *Assuming he is thinking of the same number every time he does the questionnaire, THAT’S A GREAT CLUE!!!*
As he's a massive Lord of the Rings nerd, I've always assumed his number is 9.
@@wallacerose8663 oooooohhhhhhh that does make sense. Before the hint, I was guessing pi, thinking I was so clever🙄😄
@@wallacerose8663 I would totally guess 9 as it's just MY favourite number! :)
If Sting had glared a little harder, I think Stephen would’ve cracked and given it up.
@@wallacerose8663 What's the association between 9 and LOTR?
His answers were so much faster and shorter than Jeff Goldbloom.
He probably had seen other episodes & knew what was coming.
Well, Goldblum IS 6 foot four inches tall...
But they are both Libras.
But not nearly as funny. 😂
What is your least favorite smell? "Fear." I died laughing.
Intelligence showed up in an American talk show and blows everyone away.
That was surprisingly hilarious. :}
Sting is in his element I think asking these more introspective, almost metaphysical sometimes, questions.
That was awesome. I think he could actually be the new James bond
Sting is simply brilliant 👑
So totally ahead of his time in trying to protect the rain forests all those years ago...how right he was.
that introduction by Jon & the band was so apropos... I'd be honored if some Sting fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal CZcams performances of WHY SHOULD I CRY FOR YOU and ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK in tribute to the master of lyricism & composition. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Happy holidays and stay safe.
Well, the most creative answers yet.
Love Sting!
This was best of these so far imo.
still a Legend!
I think every breath you take is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Brilliant. The man is a legend.
I love that Sting loves the same movie as me, The Magnificent Seven. I just hope he meant the older version with Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen among other great actors.
Love the cat reference wow 🙂🙂🙂 blue eyes 👀 well 😻 then there's that too the literal sound of silence earplugs are a man's best friend.
Saw him live at Southampton Gaumont in 1979....Message In A Bottle!!!! Love that man.
I love Sting. Best answers too!
This man tells the truth. Best Questionert ever! And yes, it’s an AWESOME BAND! 🎶🎶😉🙏🏼❤️
But I thought Sting doesn't drink coffee, but he drinks tea my dear?
His answers were more philosophical than most.
That's a yogi for you.
A real class act!
Love Sting ! I saw him performed in Paris. Love it so much
Please Stephen let Keanu Reeves take the Colbert Questionert next week.
LEGEND. BRILLIANT.
He’s the only one I’ve heard say my favourite sandwich…the Club!

To Jambutty: It depends: If one can bring something to the table in the entertainment field, he will fare better, although it's the aspect of what type of music is being performed: The *color code* system of appreciation, the ironic looking down upon "the white-boy music" when the same pigmented ones go gaga over American movie/film stars from the opposite pastures.
As an ordinary UK to the US/NY ex-pat., it's difficult with the warped communication vibes. The workplace encourages diversity, whilst the five-o-clock, clock-out reality, pushes back its clockwork societal ambiance.
