  • In this AP Daily: Live Review session, we will review content from Periods 4 and 5 and develop skills for answering multiple-choice questions, long essay questions, and document-based questions.
We will give particular attention to content related to the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, including the Marbury v Madison case, Louisiana Purchase, War of 1812, and the Monroe Doctrine. We will also explore the Era of Good Feelings and the political changes that resulted in the rise of Andrew Jackson and the Democratic Party, as well as the effects of westward expansion upon the United States following the Mexican American War and Manifest Destiny. We will review the resulting sectionalism and conflicts about slavery as causes of the Civil War. We will also discuss the rise of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, his wartime leadership, and the challenges of Reconstruction.
The AP historical thinking skills related to comparison will be emphasized through the detailed breakdown of a long essay question and document-based question pertaining to Periods 4 and 5.
