Genius.I am going to make this for my four year old grandson.This weekend when I visited. We played airport ,vacation ,visit to theater , museum and driving on bridge with his cars and taxi. I made pretend bridge from card board boxes. I just can’t wait to make this. Hope I can do it. He will be just so thrilled to see this when he sees this. Thank you so much. Love it
I had this assignment where you have to make a bridge. I made a beam bridge that is 10 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/3 inches off the ground. It has all the requirements so I think I will get a good grade.
Thanks! Most of the dimensions are shown in the video but I have uploaded the scaled PDF of the bridge as well (top comment). The material is typical 4.5" Popsicle sticks used as deck and circular wood dowels for the tower and braces. The cable is made from fishing line.
How much weight can you load on that bridge ? Awesome video and great work it help me on my project but i want to know how i can load on that bridge? Thank you
I loaded it up (uniform load) to 8.5kg / 18.7lb but it could probably take ~15kg / 33lb before the fishing line extends too much. The weak point in this bridge is the excessive fishing line elongation under tension load. If the fishing line is replaced with some other material that has less elongation, it will probably take more load.
Its hot glue gun with hot glue gun sticks or it wont work without the glue sticks, the sticks should be same size with the gun. I know cuz i have so many types of glue gun
So besides the Popsicle sticks I used for the deck and fishing line for the cables, I used about eight 12" long x 3/8" diameter (30.5cm long x 0.9cm dia.) wood dowels for the two towers and used about eight 12" long x 1/4" diameter (30.5cm long x 0.6cm dia.) wood dowels for the two end supports.

It is 108cm long x 26cm wide or 42.5" x 10.2".

Wow really good i need to build suspension bridge like that by using only glue ,skewers 3 mm , lines . Any ideas?
And when i finish building that , i had to hanging on that weight till it fall
