Thank you for recognizing how much Her Interactive misrepresented New Zealand! It has such a rich history yet it seems like they simply forgot where the game was taking place. Great video as always :)
Love this! definitely agree with that number one ranking! I loved watching Gab Smolders playthroughs of Water's Edge, bc she's lived in Japan and was super impressed throughout the game with how well they did portraying japan!
Whelp, I guessed those bottom two! When Malloy was announced, I remember people saying how much they wanted to see beautiful Irish countryside. Of course, the entire game took place at night. This list shows how often HER shoehorns English people into their mysteries. Happy Turkey day to you and your Mr.!
I was played Shadow at Water's Edge before and after visiting Japan. when I had already been to Japan and was very happy to relive aspects of the culture, including the tea ceremony, and I already knew some of the language so the computer puzzles with the hiragana characters were really easy for me. I didn't get to go to a Ryokan which I was sad about but oh yeah love that game.
This is such a solid ranking!! Tbh the only thing I'm put off by number 1 is how Nancy interacts with the characters but that's the fault of the writing rather than the environment. Overall, we really did immerse ourselves with the culture!
@@stacyk123 exactly! Like which best represents their state/city/region! I think that would be interesting! Like based on food, scenery, activities, etc
I think this may be my favourite ever ranking! Please can we get a ranking on how each American game represents its state (if you haven't already done this)? SPY also get the names of Scottish food incorrect! Dreadful representation of beautiful Scotland! I think I'd swap Labyrinth with Malloy, just because of the character profiles and I feel there is more of Greece in the Greek game, than Ireland in the Irish game, although Castle Malloy is based on the real Rock of Cashel. I also kept on waiting for Captive Curse to come up and was like OMG! I then thought about it and understood how many different cultural elements (even board games!) are shown. However, I do think being stuck in a castle really lets it down (like Blackmoor or Malloy) so would definitely rate Danger by design and Sea of Darkness above it.
Besides the fact that I’d knock DAN down a couple notches (I just really don’t like that game), I agree with the whole list! I knew what would be #1 before I even started watching. 😊
I agree with all of your opinions and rankings Most of these places I’ve never been to But I love to go and I agree that shadow at the waters edge does a very good job of representing Japan! Love your vids❤️
In defense of Haunting of Castle Malloy… the Irish language was banned for decades in Ireland. There’s a movement to bring it back and it’s growing strong, but back when the game was being developed there wasn’t as much awareness of the movement here in the states. In criticism of the game, why weren’t there more Irish characters?! 😤
games like shadow at rhe waters edge phantom of venice danger by design and curse of blackmoor manor did an amazing job at incorporating cultural elements in settings and puzzles. Games like the shattered medallion ransom of the seven ships haunting of castle malloy captive curse Did a generic job at showcasing the cultures and didnt do much to emphasis it.
one other person on the island besides Nancy, Bess and George it's not hard to figure out who the culprit is and it's not much of a mystery either if you only have one suspect
a theory‼️ why MED is not very representative of New Zealand other than the characters 🤔 is cuz HER planned many parts of the game like puzzle & music & story before they had fans voted for which country mystery 30 would be at 😕 no matter which country got voted any work already done would be used 🐑
There was a contest, I forget what it was, but the winner could pick the location for game #30. You’re right that they probably had many elements of the game down already to fit into what the location would be
What about the other way. The US ones particularly sense the US is varied you can be from the south or you can be from New England for two examples and the culture can be VERY different.
Lots of fun puzzles, plus it's so cool to solve a mummy mystery in Egypt! Also some fun characters and conversations. The story could use a bit of work, but I still always have fun playing it! I'd say it's worth it!

Absolutely!! Completely missed the mark on that one!
Love this!

Ooh I love Gab Smolders! I'm so glad she liked SAW!

Good point about the UK representation being pretty one note! Happy Turkey Day to you too!
this is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite channels
That is so lovely to hear and I am so glad! Thank you!!

I really enjoyed watching Gab Smoulders's playthrough of HAU since her Irish partner joined in and critiqued the game 😄
You're backkk with more ND! :D so happy. Hope you're doing well Caitlyn!
Yay!! I'm so glad you liked it!

Totally fair point! So glad you liked the ranking!
Wonderful list!! I think next you should rank the USA national cases too!
I have been thinking about how they would stack up! 🤔
What do you mean by that? Like how they represent their given region or city?

Aw yay!! I'm so glad you liked it! I thought of you several times when analyzing the UK based cases!
this was the perfect video to watch while peeling and slicing apples for thanksgiving pie 🥰
That makes me so happy to hear!! Also YUM!! PIE!!
Besides the fact that I’d knock DAN down a couple notches (I just really don’t like that game), I agree with the whole list! I knew what would be #1 before I even started watching. 😊
I'm so glad you liked the ranking!! It was definitely an interesting challenge trying to focus solely on the cultural representation!
I agree with all of your opinions and rankings

I'm so glad you liked the video! I'd love to visit all these locations too!

Incorporation into puzzles is such a great point!!

Ooh I bet you're right!
As a scot, I wish scotland was represented better. It had good ideas, just no follow through!
Agreed!! There could have been so much more!
What about the other way. The US ones particularly sense the US is varied you can be from the south or you can be from New England for two examples and the culture can be VERY different.
Making this video did definitely make me consider ranking the state based cases!
I've never played Tomb of the Lost Queen. Is it worth it? I haven't played the ones that get notoriously bad reviews, but that one doesn't seem to.
Lots of fun puzzles, plus it's so cool to solve a mummy mystery in Egypt! Also some fun characters and conversations. The story could use a bit of work, but I still always have fun playing it! I'd say it's worth it!
Is ND music copyright free?
Put me in Canada and didn't give me any poutine.
FAIL.
Honestly agreed 😅 I like the food in the game, but I would have preferred more Canada specific dishes, or even maple syrup!
how about for contrast you make a video on the most AMERICAN games
I'm considering doing a ranking on representing the states!
@@WizardKittenYT that's good too. But MERICAN!
Also.... why is nancy always skint on all these trips? 😆
An excellent question 😂
