Lyrics:
Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper
Sweeter and sweeter and sweeter and sweeter
I can't help falling in love
I fall deeper and deeper the further I go
Kisses sent from heaven above
They get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
That's what my mama told me
'Round and 'round and 'round you go
When you find love, you'll always know
I let my father mold me
Daddy couldn't be all wrong
Not gonna let you slip away, I'm gonna be there
And my mama made me learn this song
You're gonna bring your love to me, I'm gonna get you
That's why
I can't help falling in love
I fall deeper and deeper the further I go
Kisses sent from heaven above
They get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know
The deeper I go
All is fair in love she said
Think with your heart, not with your head
That's what my mama told me
All the little things you do
Will end up coming back to you
I let my father mold me
Daddy couldn't be all wrong
Not gonna let you slip away, I'm gonna be there
And my mama made me learn this song
You're gonna bring your love to me, I'm gonna get you
That's why
I can't help falling in love
I fall deeper and deeper the further I go
Kisses sent from heaven above
They get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know
I can't help falling in love
I fall deeper and deeper the further I go
Kisses sent from heaven above
They get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know
Someone said that romance was dead
And I believed it instead of remembering
What my mama told me
Let my father mold me
Then you tried to hold me
You remind me what they said
This feeling inside
I can't explain
But my love is alive
And I'm never gonna hide it again
Daddy couldn't be all wrong
Not gonna let you slip away, I'm gonna be there
And my mama made me learn this song
You're gonna bring your love to me, I'm gonna get you
That's why
I can't help falling in love
I fall deeper and deeper the further I go
Kisses sent from heaven above
They get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know
Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper
Never gonna hide it again
Sweeter and sweeter and sweeter and sweeter
Never gonna have to pretend
Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper
Never gonna hide it again
Sweeter and sweeter and sweeter and sweeter
Never gonna have to pretend
You got to just let your body move to the music
You got to just let your body go with the flow
Falling in love, falling in love, falling in love
I can't keep from falling in love with you
You know there's nothing better that I'd like to do

I own this Era of Madonna!
People laugh at Madonna age 60 something - yes she is getting old but she was one of the rule breakers so everyone else could be free today to express themselves as they wish
This. Thank you.
uh 60´s isn´t old
Amen
She is infinity she is not 60
Ageism is so stupid and disgusting.
A song that never got enough recognition
Yes, I totally agree
It was a Top 10 hit in 1992. Not enough recognition?
It was top of the charts around the world and got overwhelmingly great reviews by critics
The Erotica album is her masterpiece.
My fav!
You are not joking!!!! Lucky us for having this taste in music. By the way, we were the ones who didn't fear stepping on the dance floor. This remind me of my Puertorrican clubs at the time.
Absolutely. And it created ripples in clubbing, club culture and fashion. This video came out late 92' and 93/94 was one giant 70s revival with disco, disco glamour, even Saturday Night Fever was back in vogue again.i knew so many people who copied the looks in this video. A tribute to art became art itself.
A friend of mine at the time and for several years after became competely obssessed with the EROTICA era and this is pefect reminder why, .
It is 😍🙏❤️😍😍👑😇
@@garry3294 the era was great... she was so fearless, she opened so many doors in pop culture 🙏🙏🙏🙏👑👑👑👑❤️
1992- this song sounds brilliant
2020- this song sounds brilliant
.. and well beyond that
Word...it really is an awesome song.
I think it is one of Madonna's most overlooked tracks sadly- never gets airplay. A forgotten gem.
Also, I don't think it matched the rest of her music around that time? Remember it standing out as i was on the cusp of clubbing (aged 16).
No doubt
I do remember that song is good times
I cannot stress enough how ridiculously underrated this song is. Complete and utter masterpiece.
🎸🔥🐐♥️👍
Her best song ever 🙌
Song and video
It’s not underrated. It was number one in the charts. Just say it is fabulous.
Absolutely my friend!... absolutely
This video released in 1992, pays homage to the underground club scene of the 1970s and 1980s, particularly the iconic New York City nightclub Studio 54.
In the video, Madonna references several elements of the disco era, including the fashion, dance moves, and general ambiance of Studio 54.
The video also includes cameo appearances by several notable actors and personalities, adding to its star-studded appeal. Some of the actors who appear in the video include:
Udo Kier: German actor known for his roles in cult films such as "Suspiria" and "My Own Private Idaho."
Sofia Coppola: Director and actress, daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.
Danny Aiello: Veteran actor known for his roles in films like "Do the Right Thing" and "Moonstruck."
Debi Mazar: Actress and Madonna's close friend, who appeared in several of Madonna's music videos and films.
Tony Ward: Model and actor, who also appeared in Madonna's book "Sex."
The balloons serve as multi-dimensional symbols that enrich the visual storytelling and thematic resonance of the narrative, contributing to its overall impact and effectiveness.
The balloons floating above the dance floor create a sense of whimsy and euphoria, evoking the feeling of being transported to a carefree and joyous state. In the context of the disco party setting, the balloons symbolize the desire for escape from the pressures and realities of everyday life, allowing the characters to lose themselves in the moment and experience a sense of liberation.
Balloons are often associated with childhood innocence and playfulness. In the video, the presence of balloons amidst the adult-oriented nightclub environment juxtaposes the carefree spirit of childhood with the hedonistic pleasures of the nightlife scene. This contrast adds depth to the video's themes of nostalgia, longing, and the search for fulfillment.
Balloons are commonly used to signify celebration and festivity. In the video, the balloons contribute to the festive atmosphere of the disco party, reinforcing the sense of revelry and excitement among the characters. The balloons serve as visual cues that enhance the overall mood and energy of the video, contributing to its dynamic and engaging aesthetic.
Balloons are inherently fleeting and ephemeral (love) objects, prone to drifting away and eventually deflating or popping. In this sense, the balloons in the video can be interpreted as symbols of transience and impermanence, reflecting the fleeting nature of the experiences and emotions depicted in the narrative. The balloons serve as a reminder of the transient nature of pleasure and desire, adding a layer of complexity to the video's themes of longing and desire.
Ultimately, the love story in the "Deeper and Deeper" video serves as a central narrative thread, weaving together themes of desire, seduction, and longing within the larger context of the disco party atmosphere. Madonna's incorporation of the love story adds depth and emotional resonance to the video, enhancing the viewer's experience and creating a compelling visual narrative to accompany the song's infectious beat and catchy melody.

Saludos.

And I can't believe it's been 25 years since when I was watching this as a kid on MTV, in our living room TV!
Erotica, Like A Prayer, True Blue and Ray of light are my favorites albuns, and i love so much this song

She was so ahead of her time.
I am sooooooooo sorry for the "nowadays" kiddos... They will NEVER know what it is like to be part of the generation who continuously were gifted with Madonna´s MASTERPIECES record after record after record after record. We were so spoiled! Thank you MamaMadonna!
Happy to inform you that some of us grew up listening to old music in CDs with our families, I listen to Madonna from time to time cause her songs are s bop!
I'm a full blown Gen Z, however my Gen X dad actually introduced to Madonna's music (however he just likes her earliest music like "Everybody", not so much the most explicitly queer and sexually liberated songs). That being said, I have a huge respect for Madonna, despite not being close to a "fan". I'm not sure if this is a hot take, but I even prefer Madonna's music than Lady Gaga's, despite the latter's music being arguably more "of my time". I think we'll keep talking about Madonna well after she's no longer in our physical dimension.

That was so long ago, I used to always watch MTV
I honestly feel like Erotica is Madonna's most adventurous, artistic, and original album. It was the one that didn't seem to be focused on hits and catchy tunes. And, despite the ode to Dita Parlow that is the opening track, I also felt this was the one album where Madonna focused more on being a musical artist rather than all the gimmickry, controversy, and channeling of the past models and actresses that has made her so famous. This was her step away from pop-video-MTV-generation entertainer to a deeper more soulful singer. Although I like pretty much everything she's ever done, I feel like True Blue, Erotica, and Ray of Light are her most original works. I wish she would have done another like this one.
Astaroth Grey Madonna's music has always been a lot of fun. Mostly, it's been an ode to pop, dance, and post-disco acts that came before her. But, there were times when a little bit of artistry shone through, with the help of Patrick Leonard and Shep Pettibone, and Erotica, along with Ray of Light, are the two instances when that happened. I've always enjoyed Madonna for reviving sounds made famous long ago, but when I really feel like hearing something diverse and original from her, it's this and Ray of Light--her two pieces of art in an otherwise commercially driven career.
The Black Hat Writer I agree
The Black Hat Writer I think she also did a great job in "Bed Time Stories" that was terribly underrated... I love Erotica and I would say that BOTH Erotica and Bed Time Stories are the best of her career...
Edik San Agree with you there, Erotica and Bed Time Stories, then perhaps Ray of Light, not loving the stuff she's produced since Ray of Light, the latest album is crap.
Ray of light was also very nice indeed. But I still like the some material of the others cds since Ray of Light. Is clear that they were made to make money but anyway I like some tracks, not the full albuns as before. She still trying to be on top, unfortunatelly not with same quality as before but Madonna knew with time that what sells is not quality otherwise Bed Time Stories would be her best album of all her career and it almost not sell... I belive she is now focused in let a good money in the bank for her kids and to introduce them in the artistic world so this is why playing with Nick Minaj and etc... but who would not like to have fun with the kids and leave them safety for the future? ;)
This song never fails to bring deep emotion and excitement to the senses. It never ages. Just amazing!!!

Where's Joey Stefano? I do not see him.
I'm still trying to follow the exact storyline in this video - I love it, but in many ways it confuses me (I still don't understand who the guy at the beginning going "Beware!" is supposed to be... a cult leader?).
@xPixiex xGothiskx Wow. In gay porn movies he seems like a different guy. Are you sure?
@xPixiex xGothiskx I know that he's in the video. The problem is that I would never recognize him like that, with the wig.
Udo Kier from Warhol’s Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula is the spiritual guide in the video. Holly Woodlawn, Jackie Curtis, and Candy Darling are also referenced in the video. what ever, dre for sure was a fan of her...
well, I would say that the balloons represent her "idols and demons" and when she let them go, she feels free and herself!
Already at the beginning of the song, they say it: Beware! our idols and demons will pursue us until we learn to let them go!
And that´s what Madonna do with the balloons, she carries them around until she let them go, getting free of her idols and demons!
Not all.
@@marcdany1 This might be another way to interpret it... What if letting go of idols is a loss of innocence, and letting go of demons, obtaining freedom? 🤔
@@discotiq Because your demons are your fears, if you let them go, you are more free! Fear dont let you be really free!
And you can have idols, as role models, that you try to imitate or to follow or believe in, but in the moment you let them go, you are only you (express yourself and not like your idols would!), you dont want to be like others anymore! you lost your innocence because that means you become a mature person and coming into the real life!

Not only is this song amazing, but somehow, despite its serious nod to the 70s, this is the most 90s thing ever made.
The song has a lot of House elements. In the 1970s, synth keyboards made to sound like make-believe string arrangements, and bass and trip-hop beats (if it's that; someone please correct me, if not) would have been unheard of. But I can hear plenty of real instruments.

The reason why Madonna is the Queen of Pop because she had many peaks in her career. Her Erotica era was considered a low point but here you are saying that sheis at the leak of her career. Erotica is a hidden masterpiece.
@@tye81 you need to go to the hospital. Man… if you knew the truth 🫢🤦♀️
@@ronrodriguez9741 Agree. The late 1980s and the start of the 1990's was a high point with the Like A Prayer and Immaculate Collection albums and Blonde Ambition tour and then her career dipped until the release of Evita followed by the Ray of Light album which marked another high point of her career.
Big 90's vibe
You gotta listen to La Toya Jackson's album "No Relations" from 1991 🌹
I like many of Madonnas songs. But this is one of her best. 💥💃🌐 🎶
Me too✌ !
Diva
I believe that the 1990's represented a peak in musical creativity and balance in the music industry. The quality of production is superior to anything that is out there right now. Although this track is very underrated, it is a classic. It is one of Madonnas darkest and most poignant pieces of work.
Lawrence D there isn’t one single day I do not listen to this
Interestingly I was told by a guy who worked and played in the music industry pretty much the same thing.
He was a guitarist in rock/indie band and said to me 'enjoy this era because that's it. Its peaked everything has been done and there is nothing else to come'.
@@RogueWJL He was spot on.

Seymor Stein who launched Sire Records and signed Madonna in the early days and Melrose Larry Green are seen through the video!
I bet there are teenagers who've never heard a Madonna song.. how lucky they are that at some point in their future they'll discover Madonnas entire back catalog!
I think Madonna's "Deeper and Deeper" was copied from La Toya Jackson's "Could This Be Love We're Making" released the year before (1991). Can you hear the similarities too?
Oh my god..... The best years of my life. The early to mid-90s.... This video was my life. Second year of fashion design school, clubbing in downtown la, hollywood. The 70s fashion resurrection. I wish i could go back lol!
i was in fashion school too
You should listen to: La Toya Jackson - Could This Be Love We're Making (1991) 🌹
OMG i was young and naive 😍😍
Toretta stile . Vintage
This video is incredibly deep in visual metaphors. I’m not a Madonna fan but this is one of the best videos ever made. Her father keeping her away from the pleasures that he himself is drawn to. Losing control and cutting the cord at the end. She truly is the amazing.
I m also not a madonna fan but little of people like us undestand the sense of this video.
It is a classic like open your heart
I always thought she must have been inspired by the Paul Morrissey movies from the late 60's and early 70's.
I don't think Udo is her father in this story. I think she has a daddy complex and was always longing for his love and devotion but he is a slave to his art. The symbolic gesture of him cutting the balloons is merely to free her of this puerile fantasy she still has of him.
@@softbatch1 For me Udo plays Andy Warhol because him at the same time representing for his "troupe" a Father figure...
Drops la Isla Bonita in the middle of the song
This song and video are pure nostalgia for two decades-70s and 90s. I love her Afro to pieces. She would get called out of appropriation, but Madonna is so iconic that it’s ALWAYS appreciation as she has traveled the world for her entire adult life. She deserves her money. 5 decades of music is kind insane in a great way.
This house beat from this era is just so infectious!
One of her many, many, many masterpieces.
Another shit song, why am I not surprised?
Not only a masterpiece, but her most underrated song
@@roedalacket yeah, cos its her shittiest song
@@thesexyone5519 You're entitled to your opinion, even if your opinion sucks.
@@roedalacket your opinion sucks, not mine matey.
This is Madonna's greatest song. Anyone who knows music knows this to be a fact.
Don't kid yourself, kid. That is just one small opinion.
Not sure greatest song but her greatest combination of video and music it is her best. I think Take A Bow is better but I forget if there is a video to it. Papa Don't Preach and Bad Girl are stellar videos but the songs don't quite match up to the video storytelling.
However this one Deeper and Deeper is a model for anyone looking to write a combo of excellent song and fantastic storytelling in an indirect manner with MANY layers both in the song and video.
Best Madonna song EVER and I love most everything she's done. I used to dance every time this song hit.
Shep Pettibone did a fantastic job with this song. It is one of my favorite Madonna productions.
I agree and some of the best Madonna songs are really a Madonna+Pettibone composition.
Madonna produced it too. The flamenco section was her idea.
Yep, like that whole album. My favourite. 💋
For me, this is a tired Shep Pettibone. Kind of boring and sort of a VOGUE Copy cat. I am super fan of Madonna's Vogue and Rescue Me,. However, for some reason I have not been able to understand after almost 30 years, Deeper and Deeper never caught my attention at all. The one song from Erotica I really adore is Rain, specially for its INMACULATE VIDEO; the kind of music video Madonna fans expecet from our queen.
@@juankyrodriguez973 yeah this song is like madonna's interpolating herself into her past hits. Still, the video and song are attention worthy.
This is undoubtedly one- if not the most- underrated Madonna album. And the music videos from Erotica are real masterpieces.
30 years ago , a bitter sweet young memory in my life, see this HD video, makes me remind of many things, I can’t stop crying 😢
Same
it would super be release on the radio again and this geneation listen good music ERotiCA on the air again!

+DIETRICHCICCONE .......My favorite work of Madonna is her Ray of Light album......that entire album is marvelous.

You gotta listen to La Toya Jackson's album "No Relations" from 1991 🌹
Erotica is one of her most creative and most provocative eras. There is deep mystery in the entire album. Great piece of art.
Yep ..
Very conceptual album.

I can understand you:it IS amazing.Love from Italy

So am I now. Its exciting all over again.
@@RogueWJL me too but now lol
It truly is exciting
I cant help singing it out loud!😆🤩
Why?
I know there's a 2022 remix, but...damn, nothing beats the original. This has so much soul.
The "2022" remix is a shortened version of one of the ORIGINAL 1992 remixes from the maxi single. It is not a new version
I think Madonna's "Deeper and Deeper" was copied from La Toya Jackson's hit "Could This Be Love We're Making" released the year before (1991). Do you hear the similarities too?
Not gonna lie, this video is like a weird piece of art that has an appeal I can't identify, but is very much there
The video shows her searching
Studio 54 style
Maria Scutari she is Art
To me it looks just like gay clubbing
I love everything about this video. It reminds of a club I use to go to with friends on Saturday nights and just let loose. I also really like the Warhol references too.
EROTICA IS ONE AMAZING ALBUM LUV IT !

i said the same thing on the erotica video just a minute ago. the erotica album is a classic and i feel it is her best to date.

Had there not been such controversy during the Erotica era, this would have been more than a top 10 hit. Think it could have easily been a #1 smash. It still sounds so good today and wouldn’t feel out of place at all on today’s Top 40, IMO.
This still sounds fresh if you comparet this song to modern house songs

@@RhidMorgan the backlash from the Sex book, Erotica album, and the Body of Evidence movie.

That video had me like, Trippin' man. Like, Far out!
This was when "House" Music was hot and still is in many ways. I loved the Scene where she's at her Friend's Apartment and the Place itself could fit into Madonna's Living Room. She was a superstar, a multimillionaire and did so much for the LGBT Community but she never forgot where she came from. Can you imagine her as a Judge on American Idol or one of the "Talent" Shows or The Voice, she'd be ferocious.
Simon who? He's a kitty next to her level of perfectionism
