Lyrics
Something filled up
My heart with nothing
Someone told me not to cry
But now that I'm older
My heart's colder
And I can see that it's a lie
Children, wake up
Hold your mistake up
Before they turn the summer into dust
If the children don't grow up
Our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up
We're just a million little gods causing rain storms
Turning every good thing to rust
I guess we'll just have to adjust
With my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am going to be
When the reaper he reaches and touches my hand
With my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am going
With my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am go-going
You better look out below! - Hudba
This song is about recognizing that you were taught fear as a child -- that it was a lie. To hold your mistake up... is to forgive yourself. To open your heart to the world.
You hit it on the button. You're doing great!

I was looking for this song for 12 years, I've heard it once on the radio and never again. Today it's a beautiful day because I finally find it. I'm crying. This song feels like getting back at home to me.
Yo have to heard this song + Rebellion.

I’m happy you finally found it!
I found this song via Patel Patriot live stream. I loved it instantly. :) Great musica!
Nothing worse than hearing a song but knowing the artist or title(happened to me often with old dance tunes)have a great day my friend 😊
"Now that I'm older, my heart is colder." That hits deep.

i mean honestly, I've been the same level of cold for an easy decade. im pretty sure I'd have to be able to do cold blooded murder with a clear conscience to be any colder than i am. i have 3 people and 3 things that actually matter to me in this world. anything or anyone else, at all, would get pretty much no response
This song hits harder the older you get.
why?
@@thousandking you will experience a lot while you are growing up which leads you a moment of reflection.
I used to play cello with a comunitarian orchestra at my hometown in Mexico, my former Cello teacher was murdered by some local mafia by mistake (he wasn't involved in any shady stuff). A couple months after his murder, the comunitarian orchestra threw a concert to honor his memory, this was one of his favorites songs, and part of the closing concert. Thank you Arcade Fire, you keep alive the memory and soul of Mr. Alberto. Greetings from Mexico!
That's crazy and awful. Did he get justice in the end?

15 years ago, Arcade Fire created a chorus without a single word. Yet, it still holds mountains (beyond mountains HAHA) of power and intensity. Fans across the world can sing this chorus and unite, without having to sing a single word. Arcade Fire holds a talent that is extremely unique and beautiful. Freakin powerful.

This song reminds me of the time in which I was working In the US as a Researcher. My girlfriend and I were having a difficult time due to our long-distance relationship. It was a Thursday, I was working for a deadline on the same day. There was a movie night with pizza in the common area of the University and they were showing 'The secrete life of Walter Mitty'. I just had a call with her. Things were going bad. Everything looked bad. The movie was white noise in the background. Then, the main riff of this song started. The song of the guitar captured me completely. I look up and see Walter taking all of his courage and starting to run, and the chorus of the song explodes. And right inside of me I felt it, the force, the hope, that everything was going to be okay. We broke up a few days later. I had a rough year but I finally feel happy, calm, and on track with my life.
Sounds like you also took that leap of faith
Amazing bro didn't end up well to you but still amazing
Here’s to all the best for ya Mate
I want you to know I'm in a depressingly similar situation right now and reading this and hearing that guitar whail helped me put these feelings into words. It's been a year since she left. I won't forget her, but I'm ready to stand tall again and make this world mine. Good luck out there king, and thanks again for posting this.
This is a beautiful comment ngl😞
Masterpiece. Hearing the crowd sing the chorus to Wake Up in person is a religious experience.
It's not a religion
It’s not Star Wars
I agree. I was at Lollapalooza and this was their last song. Powerfully moving.
Yes! Something about it being the last song in the set, such an euphoric experience coming from the crowd.
Being that crowd.. changes you forever
“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”

Mom, wherever you are in the afterlife, I want you to know that I miss you. This song was played at your funeral 12 years ago in a video montage of you. I never shed a tear when you passed knowing you're free of pain but finding and hearing this song today, I just couldn't hold my tears anymore.
Nice ❤
God bless you and your mom
Much love to you. Hold those great memories of her and know she's fantastic.

2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Both being among of my favorites ❤️
My daughter and son-in-law had this on their playlist at their wedding. Not necessarily a dance tune but when their friends joined them in a circle on the dance floor and they bellowed out this song, it gave me goosebumps. They were having so much fun and it just added to their day. Great choice, Kate and Joe!!
Heard this while watching "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" on DVD and it's such an amazing tune by a great band. Great film, great soundtrack featuring both Arcade Fire and David Bowie - what more could you ask for! 🙏
I first heard this when I saw “Where the Wild Things Are” in the theaters. That’s when I discovered Arcade Fire :)
@@RadiantJetfireI don't think it was used in the movie, just the trailer. It was one of the earlier rock songs I liked and was a little disappointed it wasn't in movie.
One of the best songs ever written.

I use to play this song as a teenager and now that I’m older I get the message. It’s hit so much harder, after growing up becoming an adult, creating a family and losing people that I loved so much.

An intellect that can create such music cannot be of this world.
I think this masterpiece is composed by two different parts: in the first, I can feel a sense of sadness and resignation; in the second, when the rythm is faster, I feel a sort of desire of rebirth, the awareness of oneself in the world.
What do you think?
I think the same. I live in a mental health support place. I have started being honest about my thoughts and feelings recently, and I feel like I’ve woken up. This song explains everything.
This is a great take!
Same
I agree!
I feel the beginning is kind of aware, like an epiphany or a sense of recognition and soon realization. Then the second is post epiphany, ready to conquer anxiety and actually accept the world snd yourself for what it is. So kind of what you said
Still one of the greatest songs ever.
The year was 2004. A truly powerful song was born. Thank you.
this is probably the most underrated song of all time

The chills you had got when Lisbon was arrested officially and loved by public was awesome
Travelled through the Baltic States and Eastern Europe listening to this song every day. It was our "wake up" song to get ready for a new country or a new place to see. 👌
The first time I ever heard this song was in the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are. Hadn’t ever heard music like that before and it changed my life.

That one song which can actually " wake you up " to the reality of life each time you come across it.
I have heard this song multiple times before and always loved it, but today I decided to look up the lyrics and the meaning of the song. and It really saddens me for those who can relate to this song. My heart goes out to you. Truly an amazing piece of art.
Never knew this song until I watched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Ben Stiller and loved it. If you haven't seen that movie it isn't what you'd expect from Ben Stiller at all, it's about escaping the conformity of society and finding yourself. Its really good. I watch it all the time

This song appeared in 2014 in the film 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty ' first.
Derp will do. Thanks for sharing :)
Austin J woah😳I’ve already watched that movie! I remembered there was a scene where I really loved the song. I have to watch it again, tnx!
After my friend blasted this song in her car while we were coming back home from high school in 2006, I asked her to lend me her copy of Funeral. That was my first time hearing Wake Up and I had no clue who Arcade Fire were, I only knew that this song sounded phenomenal to me, to the point that I could not believe it was real. We are still good friends today and often meet to go to concerts together eventhough we don't live in the same city anymore.
Back in college i swore i’d walk down the aisle to this song... it’s been 4 years since my wedding and i’m only now rediscovering this song and i’m kicking myself. I demand a wedding do-over!
This continues to be one of my favorite songs! I remember hearing it first from "Where the Wild Things Are" trailer, which was my favorite childhood book. The song holds a lot of sentimental value.
Kyreem same, awesome song
Yes! I couldn't remember where I first heard it! Thank you so much for reminding me of the movie. That is exactly where I heard it. First time taking my little son to a movie as a single mom. This song came on and I remember thinking, "we're gonna make it. We gonna be ok."

When I was 2 and we left my dad, we moved into a public housing square, and the first night we slept there, I saw a creature outside my window, it was breathing on the glass, it said that it loves me, and it will be with me until I grow up, he told me myself in my dream last night.
