As a female who has been playing multiplayer (and quite competitive) games for over 8 years like no tomorrow, I've learnt to always present myself in a masculine way, and I usually ask my friends to use masculine pronouns when referring to me in chat. That is because I've been given so much bullshit the second they realise I'm a woman, either blaming me for things I didn't do, say in endgame chat that the match was unbalanced cause they had a woman on their team, stuff like that. I don't really get offended by these things anymore, since I'm desensitised to it, but my biggest problem is that their performance decreases drastically because they are too busy calling me a slut and telling me to make them a sandwich, so most of the time we end up losing (which I hate cause I'm competitive so its annoying to have griefing teammates for no other reason than the fact I am a woman). I hope that one day, the gaming community becomes more accessible to girls and possibly a safe spot for everyone to escape their daily problems and relax / enjoy games.

There are literally countable on one hand women that can play on competetive level. That's also why nobody creates "women team" in esport. Russia tried and it was just ironic. Woman league in league of legends is comparable to Platinum/gold players, while to be a men in competetive you technically need to be at least diamond 3 or above, but in truth if you've never been in master, you have no chance. On average you can be comparable, but on competetive level you don't have a chance. So if you play competetive, it's a no cap that most people would assume you are boosted, cause for most women it's true. And they don't know you, so how would they know you are in this 0,0001% of people that can be competetive as a woman?
@ARCAD3BLOOD that is maybe because women are generally discouraged from playing video games, either by their upbringing or the way they are treated when playing? I am by no means on esports level, but I do enjoy playing ranked and always strive to play my best. You don't see that many women in video games, and most of them don't spend a long time on them either because of the toxicity towards them, or because they are just not into this enough. Just like there are a lot of guys that only occasionally and casually play games... I am honestly tired of people bringing esports into the argument that men are better than women at games without any other concrete arguments. There are countless other reasons why women would not be competing besides skill, lol, such as their number? There are some teams that have one female member, iirc there was one in league a few years ago, wasn't it? I personally think that all-female esports teams are just for show. The one for Csgo was absolute garbage, tho, and even I play better than them with 20 hours in that game.

As a female who has been playing multiplayer (and quite competitive) games for over 8 years like no tomorrow, I've learnt to always present myself in a masculine way, and I usually ask my friends to use masculine pronouns when referring to me in chat. That is because I've been given so much bullshit the second they realise I'm a woman, either blaming me for things I didn't do, say in endgame chat that the match was unbalanced cause they had a woman on their team, stuff like that. I don't really get offended by these things anymore, since I'm desensitised to it, but my biggest problem is that their performance decreases drastically because they are too busy calling me a slut and telling me to make them a sandwich, so most of the time we end up losing (which I hate cause I'm competitive so its annoying to have griefing teammates for no other reason than the fact I am a woman). I hope that one day, the gaming community becomes more accessible to girls and possibly a safe spot for everyone to escape their daily problems and relax / enjoy games.
Use male nickname, works for me, nobody ever said something sexist to me, when it comes to voice chat after being grouped with some of them, they're often delighted, you need to understand that when they get mad, they're trying to find something on you and when you're exposed as a girl, it is your weakest spot for them, people are like that in games, I'm sometimes bullied by them too, but not because I'm a girl, they are just people, you can't force them to behave in games cmon 😅 that's also the reason for some to play games
There are literally countable on one hand women that can play on competetive level.
That's also why nobody creates "women team" in esport.

Woman league in league of legends is comparable to Platinum/gold players, while to be a men in competetive you technically need to be at least diamond 3 or above, but in truth if you've never been in master, you have no chance.
On average you can be comparable, but on competetive level you don't have a chance.
So if you play competetive, it's a no cap that most people would assume you are boosted, cause for most women it's true.
And they don't know you, so how would they know you are in this 0,0001% of people that can be competetive as a woman?
@ARCAD3BLOOD that is maybe because women are generally discouraged from playing video games, either by their upbringing or the way they are treated when playing? I am by no means on esports level, but I do enjoy playing ranked and always strive to play my best. You don't see that many women in video games, and most of them don't spend a long time on them either because of the toxicity towards them, or because they are just not into this enough. Just like there are a lot of guys that only occasionally and casually play games... I am honestly tired of people bringing esports into the argument that men are better than women at games without any other concrete arguments. There are countless other reasons why women would not be competing besides skill, lol, such as their number? There are some teams that have one female member, iirc there was one in league a few years ago, wasn't it? I personally think that all-female esports teams are just for show. The one for Csgo was absolute garbage, tho, and even I play better than them with 20 hours in that game.

On top level every disadvantage will pull you down.

@ARCAD3BLOOD I can't name any esport player at all because I am not into league esports, not because she doesn't matter or because I'm ignorant. The reaction time difference on average is around 12ms, which is not that significant in most cases. I wasn't trying to argue, but you are clearly misunderstanding what I'm saying and just trying to maintain your idea that "men go brr in videogames, women succ their reaction time is sooo much slower, I see life in 420690fps while the lowly females see it in 2fps, huge difference". Keep that idea if it makes you feel better about yourself and feel like you are special, I guess. Congrats on your 12ms advantage over me!
And again, you brought skill into the conversation, I was mostly talking about my experience and how people's behaviours towards me in games take a 180 turn the moment they find out I'm a woman.
