Baling Hay 2022/Small Square Hay Baling

  • With the dry weather, our second crop came in late, but better later than never. We are making small squares to put up in our hay mow for the dairy cows this winter. The hay is still kind of thin on our rented ground, but after raking with the Case International 385 and the V Rake, we ended up with almost 200 small squares of hay going through the New Idea Square Baler. The 830 Case made it look easy pulling the baler and the hay baskets. While Alan was baling, Jen and Alan's Dad milked cows at home. After that, the small squares were unloaded and stacked in the dairy barn. Now onto the next fields.

    Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

    Won't be long, and the boys will give mom some relief lifting square bales onto the conveyor! It must be a wonderful scene at the dinner table, watching & listening to all their chatter about their day growing up on the farm with loving parents & nearby grandparents! Your family farm warms the heart!💖

    Alan, this takes me back to when we used our 630 Case on the 14T baler. Very fortunate you had some rain, seems you never can get too much hay. Make hay while the sun shines is a real thing. Hopefully that rain wasn't too late for the corn.

    Right up my current alley!! Loved this one!! So did you like the land owners Tractor? I love that wagon system, could watch it for hours!! 😁😁 I saw really quick this past weekend, a elevator system will be in the near future if any production gets off the ground, that is sweet!! 👍👍😁😁 Not sure which is less work, but looks like you got a little break from the chores! 😁 Thank you for bringing us along, really enjoyed this one!! Look fwd to more!! 😁😁👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

    We missed the last rain that hit your area but we’re getting good rain today. Should make late 2nd crop grass grow and soften the ground for plowing. (I have 15 acres of worn-out hay ground to plow). Love the interior hay mow shots. Classic beam structure supporting the roof.

    Is that yellow hay conveyor an Erskine?
    The first year I started dairy farming (1982) I had Boser out of Pierz install an Erskine hay conveyor to the track up in the roof of my 70ft tie stall barn with a 50ft Erskine hay elevator on the ground attached.
    We could stack about 5500 bales in hayloft.

    Are the dairies exporting to other countries a lot of dry milk products these days? I ask because I see a lot of new, large dairy farm operations around and I don't think US domestic demand has gone up that much.

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  Před 2 lety

      I'm not sure, I know we export quite a bit

    • @dmc3742
      @dmc3742 Před 2 lety

      Small family owned dairy's (under 100 head) are quickly becoming a thing of the past. I think the new operations you are seeing are mealy replacing this production and consolidating it into one location.
