I remember my brother and me discovering a lap steel guitar in a dusty old case under my Dad's bed when I was a kid. My Dad played in a guitar band, live on the radio on Saturday mornings in the late 50's here in Melbourne. The Ample Slide Lapsteel brings back some strong memories :)
I just happen to have that pink floyd album. It also reminds me of music from Simple Minds back in the day. I can see I really need to spend more quality time with the riffer. It sounds amazing 🤩

Ample Slide Lapsteel - I’ve purchased several of their libraries - as always this one doesn’t disappoint - sound quality and programming are second to none - I do wish this was out a couple months as I purchased another new steel library - this one sounds way better and more in line with the production I do - guess I’ll be biting this bullet soon😅
Have you sorted your process? Impact Soundworks is on sale, wondering which is more realistic? Realize one is lap and other pedal but ... thanks!

I noticed a big difference in vibrato quality just from the first demo you played. :D The sloppy, uncanny vibrato was the only thing about Ample Sound that I took umbrage with, and this lapsteel's the first that got it right! Looking forward to this update on the other libraries.
Ample Slide Lapsteel - very cool instrument! Enjoying your videos! I’d love if you would give a keyboard playing technique video showing how you play bluesy melodies on piano. It sounds like you are doing pentatonic and blues scales, but not all styles you play are blues. What’s your secret??

"Ample Slide Lapsteel" I have the Ample Taylor and Cherry guitars and the way they made the engine makes it so much easier for me since I only have my left hand to play with because of a stroke. In member of your Ample Sound Acoustic Guitars course btw and its how I learned the basics. Was perfect for me.

This is probably the most authentic VST i have ever heard.
It is ironic that a lapsteel would be among the hardest instruments to emulate, yet Ample did it right, in a big way.

That's actually not 'Irony'
@@johngordon5495 the ironic thing he means is that "one of hardest instrument to emulate" went to have " the most authentic VST i have ever heard". People seem to have no idea of the definitions of irony, and think it's just saying something you don't mean ("ironically"). But irony (can look it up in the dictionary) is also used for something happening in a way contrary to what's expected, and it being amusing. Which fits like a globe here.

20:30 wow. Really digging that. If you like that sound, check out Australian artist Jeff Lang especially his early work from his album "Native Dog Creek" of which I have a signed copy.
Ample Slide Lapsteel - This is exactly what I've been looking for, for some time now. I don't have room for a physical lapsteel, but really, really want to use one on a few instrumentals. One of them the lapsteel section I want to use is inspired by Pink Floyd's: "One Of These Days", and to my surprise, there's a demo of "One Of These Days" using the ASL on Ample Sound's webpage/Soundcloud. I'll take that as a sign!
Just got the trial for this and it’s staying. The sound of a lap steel slide can bring so much to a track. I often try to replicate it with an acoustic in open tuning, but it’s not the same.

I was one of fortunate to win a copy of ASL from hifimidi. After using it for about 3 weeks I find I'm less impressed rather than more impressed. The negatives are: ASL does not have "smart" scale based automatic interval harmonies (like 4th and 6ths) so common to lap steel sound. The ASL standard tuning is (from low string to high) E-B-E-G-B-E and user can only detune a string 2 semitones lower which means popular tunings like open G or open A, or C6 are not supported. Full bar slides are limited to only predefined power chords, major and minor (7ths and 9ths) and slides are only possible over an octave range because of the way the keyswitch range for each chord type is laid out. I have just bought this VST and there is no dice in the riffer, but I can see in your video that you have. Is it something that was in and taken away or something else? It would be a big help to have the option to use the dice as a beginner.
I wish they put a high velocity slow slide out. I think the slide out on lower dynamics fades quickly and it would be nice to get a longer one at a higher level. I can see myself turning up the volume on the one's played at lower velocity (because they are longer). But les not be picky.
The expanded riffer features in the Ample Slide Lapsteel are really nice. Does anyone know if these features are coming to their other instruments?
