Really nice video. Thanks. How did you diagnose you needed the whole intake manifold, and not just the gasket?
The only way to really know is a visual inspection of the sealing area once the manifold is already off. You could see that this wasn't going to seal up right with just a gasket change. And knowing the history of the vehicle, that it has overheated in the past, was a give away as to what happened to the plastic.
If your engine overheats, it can melt the intake manifold being that its plastic.
What happens when the 2 bolts holding the manifold are inserted because apparently my machanic left them out
I tried to do this & did exactly what you said but now my car won’t stay on & it gave me the check engine light that it’s misfiring all cylinders
What were the symptoms before the repair? It may be that something didn't get put back together correctly. Double check that all hoses are connected and electrical connectors are plugged in.
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive yeah apparently I didn’t put in the fuel injectors right so I guess I didn’t do something right 👍🏼
You don’t respond but here goes- do you think you can get to pcv valve removing the intake? I’m told that’s the way to replace pcv valve.. never mind . Different with pcv valve under the manifold
The PCV valve is connected to the valve cover. The intake manifold does not need to be removed to replace it 👍
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive no it’s different set up . Mine is buried under below manifold behind a frigging power steering pump. 😡 so some videos show a different ways to get it off . Some videos the cars don’t have a hydraulic steering pump right in front of it and so remove it by feel going in through the passenger side wheel. Difficult but doable in that set up . That car I guess has electric power steering. IDK . 🤷🏽 another video shows it being removed from the top by feel also without taking off intake manifold. Geez 🙄 Toyota didn’t do me any favors. Maybe I’ll try that mechanic again . He sorta flaked on me said he could do it but then said he was busy and try him again in a few days
I just did. I have a 2011 with a power steering pump. The pcv is on the engine underneath between the engine and manifold. Once I got the intake manifold loose and tilted up like to change the gasket, I could replace the pcv valve and hose easily from underneath. I had to undo the power steering hoses to get the intake manifold tilted up for the gasket. This video helped me get the intake manifold loose.

Where you buy the intake manifold ? Is it OEM ? If not what brand ? And where it is made ?
I'm not sure where it came from. It's not OEM I know that for sure. It may have been off eBay. This repair was done years ago so I forget 😕
Another mechanic took water spilled in the manifold the engine started shaking, this is a 1AZ engine

Is there a torque for the install of the manifold?
Hey Jerry. The manual I have says 22 foot pounds for the intake bolts 👍
Do the bolts have to be staggered or just tight to sequence
How much is a new intake manifold?
Depending on where you get it they can cost a couple hundred dollars. Getting a good used one can possibly save you some money 👍
