I'm from Uttarakhand, and locals often set fires in the jungle because in the next season, new grass will grow, providing fresh grazing for animals.

This happens because the forest official takes a bribe and due to very casual attitude towards the imp of forest and flora & fauna

Even the government is promoting green energy and providing funds to install solar panel on the rooftop, the scheme is known as "PM Surya Ghar yojna", i have applied for it. This is controlled fire & has been set by the Forest Dept themselves. Locals & Forest Dept undertake this activity almost every year. Sometimes it gets slightly out of hand & help is needed to put it off. This is not a major uncontrolled naturally happening fire as Media is portraying it to be

Last week I visited katarniya ghat wildlife sanctuary..some forest guards told that they burn limited forest areas so as to grow new grass for herbivores.

As a resident of kumaun, I can say the local governance along with govt employees are good for nothing in Uttarakhand. In the case of a forest fire, the forest department is sound asleep. I've never seen any efforts made by them to extinguish or even. control the fire. Their own build, which is right next to the road in the city HQ, was engulfed in flames back in 2022 due to forest fire. This shows the level of concern they have.
I have no idea why the govt is paying them salaries every month. No one will notice if the govt completely removes the forest department in my district.
