Great job explaining how these works, it pretty hard to read the small print in the instruction booklet that came with radios. So happy you posted this, thank you very much!! A gret tip someone shared is to NOT use the USB Y charger and charge each one separately to get the batteries to full charge.

When thousands of people show up everyone’s cell phones are fighting for a spot on the nearest cell tower. As thousands of people use their cell phones at the same time more than internet access can be lost. I am often cut off from phone calls. Other rural areas have poor cell reception at all times. I am hoping my new walkie talkies will provide a way to stay in contact with others in my group.
all family service transevers operate on a !/2 of a watt you will only get two miles the 16 watts is for gmrs through a locial repeter I have three hand helds and a base and that put's out 45 watts It is a moble radio W R X N 8 2 4
I think the ads say this has a 25 mile range ... do you know how accurate this is? What is the real range for these? If you are indoors how much will that hinder the range I wonder. If you know please post! Thank you!
Ive tested this out before in the neighborhood I lived in. I was able to get about 1 mile until the signal got scratchy and cut off. Although these radios are pretty good and durable, range wise they have a bit of trouble getting to 1 mile. Maybe if you were to test this in an area of just fields, I do believe you can get better range. Also, if you were to use these indoors with one inside and one outside, it will hinder the signal a bit more. About a year after this video I bought some Digital radios which are more private, can't be picked up from a scanner, and I can transmit and receive up to 3 miles. These radios are the Motorola DTR 550 and 650. If your looking for a radio more focused on range and that doesn't require a license, then those digital radios are the best choice. Personally I use them all the time and they work great, but they can be a bit pricey but once you find one for a good deal on ebay it's worth it.
I haven't thought about using ivox while using a mic headset, I'm not sure if it would work or not but if I would have to make a guess I will say that it might still work with it.
Is there a way to turn off the end of transmission/roger beep? I’m considering adding a few of these to my radio fleet and none of my other radios have the roger tone turned on.
Yes there is a way to turn it off, go into the menu until you see the bell icon (it should be the very last icon on the menu) and use the volume buttons to choose if you want it on or off then press menu after you selected which setting then you should be good to go
Yes it will, but here in the U.S there is designated frequency's for public use, and in other countries it may be illegal to use these walkie talkies. It all just depends on the laws.
Nope not illegal at all, if you're looking for "illegal" radios you'll have to use Motorola XTS5000's, 3000's, or 2500's which I'm planning on making a video on in the future.

Channels 1 through 7 and 15 though 22 are designated for GMRS which do need an FCC GMRS license for 70 bucks which is good for the whole family, but if the radios do not use over 2 watts of power then a license is not needed. When in don't just use channels 8 through 14 and set privacy so that you do get a bunch of other people coming through, but remember on privacy other people can still hear you you just can't hear them
@@Newworld1492 it is an license given by the FCC to operate certain walkie talkies, when you get the license you are given a call sign number and can use walkie talkies that are a little bit stronger in power and range, GMRS channels use more power and supposedly longer range. I think it's just another way to get consumers to pay more money. I have been reading updates and it's not real clear but the FCC says if your radio is FRS and GMRS combo then no license is needed. But it does not name what channels if any you can t use , I just play it safe and stay 8 through 14 to ensure I'm in the FRS channels, as the FCC fines can be in the 1000s GMRS channels can be traced to your location when you transmit Soo..... Channels 15 through 22 use more power and have the longest range.

You will need a GMRS license to use channels 16-22 I believe, but channels 1-15 are safe to use if you don't have a license

I’ve had receiver plugged in for 2 hrs & still not charged.
It can take a while to charge the walkie talkies, around 2-5 hours.
SO out of the box you have someone else on a two mile leash I will let you chuse who.
