    My final score is 116-111 for Floyd Mayweather. I've watched this fight over 50 times, and have always had it either 116-111 or 115-112 (and believe me, that's being generous) for Floyd Mayweather.
    Guys, don't be fooled by bulling to the ropes or stalking your opponent like a zombie. Boxing is about landing punches and not getting hit. How you can give Floyd Mayweather less than 7 rounds in this fight is beyond me.
    Don't depend on punch stats. Simply use your eyes.

    This Was a real close FIght !!!!! Castillo showed alot of heart and i believed had Jr scared for a couple of moments, the first threat that ive seen out of all the fighters mayweather has fought(No excuses "Shoulder"), after those first 4 rounds the rounds started shifting towards castillo, At the end it just depends on what the judges see & score , what a great match VIVA MEXICO!!!!!

    i had this fight 114-113 for Mayweather. He landed cleaner punches, landed at will. Castillo only punched Mayweather's elbows and arms but because of his activity he won many rounds and made this a close one

    @elnegrobembon It depends on what you class as a significant shot, I guess.
    For me, a power punch landing on a shoulder, smothered by a glove, hitting arms/elbows (i.e. the case with most of the body shots) or it is rolled with well enough to take its power away, it doesn't score in comparison to a clean, sharp jab. If on the other hand you do rate these types of punches, then of course you'll score differently.
    I guess my scoring ideas lean a little toward the Olympic style.

    Ive watched this fight so many times. I know castillo landed more punches, hits way harder, keeps coming foward... but i saw mayweather winning the actual rounds and landing the cleaner shots. He definitely didnt walk through castillo, but he took that fight. I have it 115 mayweather, 111 castillo. But almost scored it 114, 112 also.

  • @sinusbradycardia
    @sinusbradycardia Před 12 lety

    @RatedRKingofKings He hurt his rotator cuff, it wasn't torn a big difference and never substantiated. Vitali Klitschko did tear his and quit and Merchant chastised the hell out of VK for it. Vitali had to have surgery. VK is a tough SOB and he proved that in his fights with LL and Cory Sanders. So a torn rotator cuff is a pretty painful and serious injury and a lot different than a hurt arm.

  • @Aware2128
    @Aware2128 Před 14 lety

    @crowbar5748 Ok, I looked at it again and it was a grazing punch, it didn't land cleanly as Castillo was going backwards and Mayweather was really stretching. That one punch does not affect the outcome of the scoring in the first minute. Lets go into detail of that first minute...So right after that Castillo lands two body shots in the clench, then Mayweather doubles up the jab and one lands cleanly, followed by a left hook that is partially blocked. Then two more body shots in a clench...

  • @Aware2128

    @joefrank316 That is another misconception... Watch the beginning of Mayweather-Castillo II, Jim Lampley says, "press row were split down the middle". It's called group think.. if you would meticulously watch the fight and turn the volume off I think you would come to the same conclusion.

    @TheNigerianScammer; This is how accurate it is... three individuals count punches by tapping buttons; if two out of three agree a punch landed it counts as a punch in the compubox stats; with that being said, what's the least inaccurate compubox stats can be?? Yes, power punches do score higher but solid flush landed punches 98% time win a fight with the judges. For example with the 10th round, who landed the more flush shots? Punches during clinches don't score highly.

    That 3rd judge must be on some crazy drug, no way could it be that wide. I have watched this fight many times and the fight can be scored for either fighter it just depends on what you favour, Floyd's cleaner punching or Castillo's pressure and inside work. Very difficult to score.

    I got a task for ppl who thought floyd lost, watch the fight in slow motion, castillo missed his shots either blocked or missed just like oscar fight, just because a fighter like castillo is agressive dont mean hes connecting(high activity low connect percentage) castillo also had a 9lb advantage and floyd was injured. just watch the fight in slow motion and tell me if castillo won

  • @jhazemusic
    @jhazemusic Před 14 lety

    after 12 rounds of may/catillo i have it for floyd. ignore the compubox because alot of castillo's punches were during the many clinches of the late round. i think castillo made floyd look bad during some of the rounds but did not land the bigger cleaner punches. the judges seem to agree with me. i dont care what Lederman says

  • @28rampage
    @28rampage Před 14 lety

    @Veechie4short yeah sometimes the dirty shots do get counted but as a whole they only TRY to count clean shots, remember they count the shots as it happens live & most pros punches are lightning quick so it would be a tough job to only score 100% accurate punches, we get the opportunity to watch the fights over & over again to make our final descisions, i'm not saying that whovever gets the better of ther punch stats wins the fight but i do feel castillo landed more clean shots through the fight

    I think Castillo did just enough to win the fight,cut off the ring well,fought a discipline fight,(sorry May fans,but the rough-house tactics went back and forth)didnt get desperate and most surprisingly didnt seem too bothered by Floyd's quickness and speed,Floyd can point out to his shoulder as a deterrent for not performing as the level he expected,but it cant take away the fact that Castillo made him fight his fight and that is an accomplishment in and on itself.

    Just look at Floyd's face at 3:27 he looks defeated no matter the score. U can't play boxing warriors know in their heart when they lose. Floyd just got that feeling right in that moment cause he didn't feel satisfied with his performance n he knows he didn't win, even though they gave him the fight his heary felt otherwise.

    @complexfellow Thank you man. Rational boxing fans are rare to find today. Compubox are REALLY inaccurate, at times. Castillo definitely had heart but had no real chance. Castillo connected with Mayweather probably the most, other than corley. George Foreman is a bad commentator. Goes to show you that even boxers aren't good at analyzing fights. Mute, or turning the volume low, allows you to see the fight for what it is. This fight wasn't even close tie. Oscars fight was closer.

    @Aware2128 Před 14 lety

    @Aware2128 at the beginning of the round Castillo only lands 1 of those punches. Mayweather then lands a big left hook counter as Castillo is punching with his right to Mayweather's body, this is the best punch of the round. Mayweather then dictates the rest of the round with his Jab and a couple of lead right hands. Castillo does land a couple of body shots but Mayweather won that round with his jab and the best punch of the round. I agree on round 9 to Castillo and round 10 to Mayweather....

  • @Aware2128
    @Aware2128 Před 14 lety

    @Aware2128 two minute mark Castillo starts opening up and landing good body shots and an uppercut (the best stretch of the round for him), however, starting at around 1 minute and 17 secs left in the round (when Mayweather lands a right uppercut), Mayweather has the best stretch of the fight! This momentum lasts until the last 10 secs of the round and then Castillo lands some good body shots. Mayweather wins about 2 min and 7 seconds of that round. That's why you gotta 11th to Mayweather.

    @crowbar5748 I agree that rounds 1-4 go to Floyd and that round 5 could go either way. Castillo won rounds 6 and 7 (The 7th was all Mayweather til Castillo stole it at the end). The 8th round is a critical round for scoring since if you give it to Mayweather it becomes a 10-8 round and after watching this round multiple times I am convinced Mayweather won. Here is why, ring generalship, Mayweather completely controls this round with his movement and jab. When Merchant says, "3 body shots"....

    I agree with stoneD201. I don't know what fight the announcers were watching. Those punch stats were misleading. Mayweather was landing the cleaner shots, and when Castillo had Mayweather up against the ropes, throwing a flurry of punches that either missed or grazed Floyd, the announcers were talking about how much Castillo was taking it to him. I thought it was a good, competitive fight, but I thought Floyd won the first 5 rounds, and I would have given Floyd 8 of the 12 rounds overall.

Hes a poor mans Chavez Sr. However, this fight was a robbery. I bet Bob Arum regrets paying off the judges in this one because it came back to bite him in the ass. Castillo won clearly won 7 rounds, but giving Floyd 5 rounds is still a stretch. Castillo beat up Floyd. This is a fight that many new fans of Floyd never seen because it was very old.

You have to accept that Manny will be hit by Floyd. No question. You can even see him getting frustrated TOTALLY. But IMO, he CLIMBS ALL OVER THAT Bless!! He hits harder than Castillo. Works harder. Takes a punch seemingly as well and does things in there as smart as Floyd ever does.. Lets just GET IT ON Man...!! BraaP!!!

    @DrTruth007 the point is that he had an opportunity to make a superfight with Cotto when both were undefeated and cotto had just beat mosley but instead he chose to retire. If you dont call that ducking then I dont know what is. Now he has an opportunity to fight pac man but he wants to make his own rules, if many fighters juice as you say they do then whey didnt he have a problem before?? who is he to set new rules. and pacman never said no, he said no to drawing blood too close to the fight
