It is a "Look At Me I am In Control" thing Julie, so many now doing all they can to try and grab the reins or be shouted at either will do as they get the photo regardless for their social media sites. They should be fined for deliberately doing it as most do.

The British are far too gentle with those people. I don't for a moment think they are "accidently" grabbing the reins, its on purpose! Its long past time to limit access to the horses now. The public is far to stupid to be trusted near a big animal like those beautiful horses. Want a picture of the horse and soldier; buy a damn post card, but keep your nasty hands off!
When I was there on Sunday 10th sept, it was 12 pm and got to see changing guards. Tourists got told to get back behind the white lines. Then outside, the horse was bit nervous/young and was kept back in the box, a daft tourist went in the box 🤦🏼♀️ got shouted to get out of the box. I got a lovely picture taken, well clear, just a little scratch on horses shoulders, even more beautiful in the flesh. I’m very lucky.
I suspect that the guard atop the horse likes giving those pesky tourists a good scare while having a good shout.😂
I dont blame him, I couldn't do it by the end of the day they would have gotten all over my last nerve ending

He said "off the reins" nice at first, then he hollered. He could've tried a little kick. I've seen them do that sometimes.
@@entityk14Exactly, he told the first woman 3 times before shouting and the last man as well. That man pulled so much he caused the bridle to become displaced in the horses mouth! So mean, and then he & the woman he was with lied to the police about it. Not nice people at all.

The police are NEVER there unless( and not always then) hear the guard shout ,to late if course.
The MOD police are not there to guard the Guards. Their job is security of the buildings, so it is unfair to expect them to be always next to the Guards.

it was much better in the 70s when we were allowed to give them a jab with the sward or poke them with our bayonets. lot more fun than shouting at the tourists.

There are rules and regulations. Follow them. When you’re told to not touch something, don’t touch it.
It time to paint yellow exclusion lines round the box .
It won't affect people walikg on along the pavement or hinder the horses leaving the box to go off duty.
But it will dtop ALLtourists,with their stupid posing and grabbing the reins and being totally disrespectful.
It may take a lite while for the fools to get the message but if our favourite,loud Guards do their splendid stuff,all this nonsense will stop..

The best one I have seen is a woman with a longish pony tail who seems to have annoyed the horse, who swung his head round, grabbed her pony tail and start to swing her head about by tugging on it, and of course the Guard shouted at her, so the horse let her go, and she scarpered off a bit sharpish, and the audience laughed.....😁
People grabbing the reins think they are something special. Very egoistic stupid people. They would never do the same with police horses. They don’t even seem to understand that these soldiers and their horses are living individuals.

Why should these wonderful soldiers put up with frightful tourists and their rude behaviour. It’s like they have to put up with highly unruly children especially when they deliberately grab the reins to get a good photo and make the guard angry. I’m not impressed with the powers that be who allow soldiers to be abused that this. Is it a money making plan? Or what?
It seems these horses already have some uncomfortable bits and this is compounded by tourists molesting and groping them. Why? These are working horses and the guards have an important job. Why is this allowed.
The bits are not uncomfortable they are used to them , some horses play and mouth the bit as a habit .
