I miss them still. Saw them once in Cambridge, their music has helped me through dark times. Very unfair for a life to be cut so short with so much potential. RIP Jimmy Hernandez, and RIP John Peel.

I saw The God Machine at Glastonbury 1993. A warm June afternoon in a big field was maybe not the ideal location to see the band, but I clearly remember them play Commitment and absolutely sucking the audience in. Sadly I didn't get to see them a second time, RIP Jimmy Hernandez.

I was fortunate enough to see them at King Tuts in Glasgow on the Scenes from a Second Storey tour. Unbelievably good, this is a band who deserved so much more attention but Jimmy's tragic passing denied them this. Rest in peace Jiimy, you were an inspiration & a total star.

I was booked to do lights for them... there wasn't much to do... this band played in the dark with nothing but a video projector throwing images onto a backdrop made from bedsheets!

Such a beautiful band; I miss them. There was a simplicity about their music that was bewitching and yet their songs never felt dull or uninspired. This is one of those bands I really wish I had seen live at least once in my life.

Totally agree! I rushed to the stage at the Glastonbury festival in 93' and just missed them! Jimmy was gone the following year. I think they would have become pretty big and lets face it John Peel always had a nose for talent!

I did see them live in a rather small venue and it was intense. I thought, if I was ever about to commit suicide, it would be to their music. It may sound pathetic now, but I felt the despair, the love, the aggression, the sadness in their music. (for clarification: no, the music didn't make me feel suicidal, just the perfect soundtrack for it, if I ever decided to kill myself. As you can read, I'm still here)

@@nikebordom Doesn't sound pathetic at all. Just had some really bad days the beginning of this year and listened to them first time in years. Purity hit really deep again but it helped. I think music like that can be a really much needed catharsis at times and i honestly do believe that in the end music like that for however depressing it might sound in the first place, can actually save your live in the end. And be it just that it makes you feel alive again.

@@jandoe2576 Sometimes depressive music can be very purifying when you feel down but, be careful, sometimes it can throw you in an even darker pit. I experienced it - not with The God Machine, it was Gravenhurst after a totally unjust warning at work.I thought I'm just angry, but the music made me have a severe breakdown, which made me unable to work for 2 weeks.
So, everyone with a depression: take care and be cautious and stay strong!

well are so damn few the documentations of one of the greatest band ever that i feel to comment and share everything. i'll share on g plus under this same nickname, 0wakinglife0 in a collection i just started, "the god machine", were i invite every lovers of this band to join and partecipate with comments and hopefully new material then the youtube one.
honestly my opinion is that here the band had a lot of steps to do before to arrive at the definition and original personality of their sound like we know it from their first album.
