I'll push back. Kev was very funny, but he is being stretched too thin to make a good stand up routine. Also, Kevin's handlers want to keep a squeeky clean image that they can sell to middle America and that keeps a leash on Kevin. I have seen Kevin roasts Meek Mill and his whole crew. I have listed to him destroy Jamie Foxx of Foxhole radio, but corporate Kevin just ain't the same.

A lot of the rappers who went on to have mainstream success had to really tone down to make the cut. There are only a few exceptions. However, Pap ate of the independent route so more power to him

The comedians I’ve always found to be the funniest have a balance of being naturally funny, intelligent, and having thought provoking social commentary. Kevin is lacking in all of those areas. His comedy is a dumbed down version of the craft, and it’s a really a reflection of the times we live in, just like rap and popular culture in general.

The Kevin Hart's current image is that of the industries "Magical Negro!" Safe, Friendly, and approachable for advertising products. He was probably propositioned by higher up executives years ago and took the bait for fame. A minor sacrifice for going to the next level of popularity and superstardom. But when its all said and done he'll be know for what he did, minus the respect of his peers.
Well, everyone tends he "sacrificed", but it's possible he may have gravitated towards that from the beginning anyway (or, at least, from when it was within his reach), in which case, he probably hasn't sacrificed beyond the universal basics (his time, his energy and his effort).
EDIT: Also, that's not what a "magical negro" is.
He has alot of respect already from alot of his peers. The peers that don't respect him are very few and usually the same ones that were hating on him during his beginnings. Or they hold an illogical jealousy towards him because he became bigger than them while they were messing off opportunities.
