When I discover Bad Religion, somewhere in the second half of the 90s, I was hooked. The best part was that I could immediately indulge myself in the rest of their discography. It was all just as great, no matter how far back I went. All ingredients to make their music great were there from the start, independent of high quality production. In fact, part of me enjoys their early work more. This song is the perfect example of a great lo-fi punk song. There is no way a cleaner version of this song will sound better.
This is how I remember Bad Religion. These were exciting times. The first 7" and the first album are still a couple of my fave records. Raw and brutal. Thanks
The host is Peter Ivers and the show is New Wave Theater which was part of USA's "Night Flight". I saw this when I was a kid and it was first broadcast. Also saw Black Flag for the first time on this show.
Man, when I saw the guy from that site Weirdotronix coment that they suck at the beggining I didn´t believed that was true. Now I see how much they improved since those days
actually there is audio of them playing 2 songs of into the unknown live. Thats close to video, but in that particular show there were no keyboards or Greg playing acoustic
i want to smack the crap out of people who say BR isnt punk...same with rancid...these guys have been playing this music for 30 plus years...how are they posers for fucks sake?LOL!
Stranger than fiction ok? Go back listen for a week;best album since Against the g. Incomplete fast, Leave mine to me Better off dead are extraordinary (live is wow).Tim Armstrong on Television. Tiny voices has great oozin ahs. Complete album, the last Brett before the dark age (new america, no substance)
but you are indeed aware that they have aged over 20 years since back then? don't you think greg would make quite the fool of himself, were he, a phd whatever and past his 40s, to act and sing on stage like that? don't get me wrong, i absolutely prefer their early stuff and didn't quite like as much what they released the past, say, 10 years. but i respect them for staying out there and on top despite those changes. this old shit brings back priceless memories, though...^^
"Punk Rock Music is good music by bad musicians" As fat mike says : )
But in bad religions case i think they are truly talented and always will be
"good" in the sense that it opposes evil.
Greg Graffin was born in 1964 so, as allfantasticimages says, he was 16 at the time. Awesome performance!
this is probably my favorite bad religion song!!!! lol they're just so young and have have so much anger

i want to smack the crap out of people who say BR isnt punk...same with rancid...these guys have been playing this music for 30 plus years...how are they posers for fucks sake?LOL!

Now that's real, old shool punk. Not that I don't like their new stuff, but this is the real shit
FODAAAAA
great, lol and others....it's strange 2 watch the clip when dinosaurs were young...it makes me optimistic
Which guy? it could be the camera man Rasmoonn is talking about. But seriously, I think he's on about the presenter.
Of course. He's just much older now.
I'm pretty sure he meant the harmonies they incorporated into most of their songs.
its jay after the songs they did an interview were they named the members.
great responce from the crowed
@proteusescape awsome!:D
Greg Hetson's not with them in this video he didn't join'em until 1984, this takes place in 1980
what show was this supposed to be on?
is this the only footage of jay z on drums with BR ?
@TheradiomanofYT
my bad.

Bad Religionception
I'm Godwin Alexander and you're watching Rock After Dark.
this is real punk
:))
the guy in the beginning is hilarious
BAD RELIGION !!!!!
I think the lead singer(forget his name) was drunk or just wanted to be loud. =]
Greg wasn't drunk, he's just punk as fuck
Tell us what you really think about this song?
Yeah the album how could hell be any worse has it and you can buy it cheap now.
Is the guy introducing them gay, cause he seems it?
Against the Grain=best BR album, Stanger Than Fiction comes in second.
That's what I said.
lol thats the first time i see how they looked like in the 80's
[or at all..]
PUNK ROCK.
but you are indeed aware that they have aged over 20 years since back then? don't you think greg would make quite the fool of himself, were he, a phd whatever and past his 40s, to act and sing on stage like that?

they remember me the pistols in this video :o
YOU MEAN THEY LEARNED TO PLAY THEIR INSTRUMENTS PROPERLY?OMG!!!!
I think he's 45 now which would make him only 16 in 1980.
anyway the song is meant 2 b sung like that
whats the album??
Bad Religion EP
[insert my personal opinion about which bad religion songs/albums are good and which aren't here]
Not that I'm saying that they're sellouts, they're just a bit detached.
greggs voice was good :D
West Coast Punk (very lite version) as opposed to hard core.
:) i would push your deadline from 85 to 93 , but the statement stays the same:x
I think Greg hates the way he used to sound and look... he's so different in this... He looks like Jello Biafra.
