Lived in Radcliffe from 1979 to 1981, before we emigrated to the States. Lived on Winston Close, off of Moss Shaw Way. Really enjoyed my time there as a 7-9 year old....some great memories. Thanks for the video!

Pilkington Way killed off Radcliffe. It was a busy town centre before Bury council decided to bulldoze Pilkington Way through the town. My mother and maternal grandparents were born in Radcliffe. I lived there on and off from 1977 to 2000. So this is the first time in 23 years that I have had a 'walk' around the town centre. Thank you.

they further killed the town by moving asda to the opposite side of pilkington way , after that the indoor market became a glorified car boot sale

I live in Radcliffe. It used to be a vibrant town with a busy nightlife. Now, thanks to Bury Council, it is dead. The only things left of interest are Radcliffe Tower and the parish church near it.

My old hometown too, sister of Laura Jeffs. I remember the bustling market in the early 1970s and the co-op. The pet shop where the bandstand is now. Its a rough area now. Happy memories. I went to St Johns C of E on Johnson Street and Coney Green High School until 1983.

My old home town. Lived for a bit off James St. Used to go on a pub crawl from the Wellington, onto the Rams, then the Woolpack, the Boars, and the Bridge tavern. The Horseshoe and the Morning star were about my limit. Then I moved to the other side of Radcliffe, and that opened up a whole new pub crawl for me. Sadly now looking at this film, there's just the Bridge and Morning star still in business.

Most pubs shut. There are still a far few open. Morning Star, Bridge, Overdraught, New Inn, Railway, Railway and Swan, Top 'O' Cross, The Royal Oak, Unicorn, Sparkling Clog, Hare and Hound, and Bar One. Not sure what it used to be called

Lived In Radcliffe in the 1960’s before it was absorbed into Bury. St Thomas church was about the only thing I recognised. It looks dead to what it was back then. Most of the shops are shuttered up. No industry.. There were 4 paper mills. General Engineering, Mather & Platt, Dobson & Barlow..Auto Sprinkler co
