Hilariously, Bobbi didn't technically lie. Hancock is still technically *a* Mayor McDonough.
**Slow clap** Just *fudging* wonderful.
Fun fact handick is actually Mayor McDonoughs brother
She lied because she said diamond city stronghold so you know what she meant
I don't think Bobbi knew that though.
id think they r bros...McDonough is synth...
5:46 don't mind me, just a synth strolling through diamond city.
LOL
Yo wtf 😂
That happens after the institute ending.
@@At1asTheProto he din beat it yet tho I think I dont remember
The humans are dead
The entire point of this mission was so Bethesda could make a "Dammit Bobby" joke.
And it was worth it :3

(Sees Fahrenheit inside lock up)
BWAAAH!
And the mini gun Fahrenheit gives you.
Gahd Dhammit Bobbi
Fun fact: Mel changes some of his responses depending on your character's gender, hinting at the fact that he might be gay. For example, his responses to the line "This year's hottest gift, get one before they're gone" are:
Female Character: "I don't really do the whole gift thing"
Male Character: "And what a prize you are..."
Kim Valença Interesting, I never realized this.
I speculated about that too with my male character.
I think he even says the male character is attractive when talking to Bobby in ambient dialogue. I thought I misheard it at first lol
I didn't know this! That's pretty cool! I'll have to check this out with my male SS. :) Makes you appreciate the game a little more knowing that Bethesda added some small dialogue like this.
I want to go check it again too lol I wish we could flirt back with random NPCs more. I liked the Confirmed Bachelor perk in New Vegas for that reason.

Oxhorn makes mirelurk kings look pathetic
I believe Hancock has unique dialogue if you got the quest from him to investigate pickman gallery and then kill Fahrenheit he says something like "when I said investigate pickman gallery I didnt mean raid my strong room and kill my bodyguard"
Yup. I've done it by mistake
I found a really fun and unexpected dialogue when I went to the Gallery but Hancock was my companion. He says something like "when I told you to investigated Pickman's Gallery I didn't mean to you to bring ME here, but there is you're caps". I laughed a while.
Hancock is a fun guy to have adventures together and fighting super mutants, raider and gun runners and loot the place and go back richer and eat lots of food and get high lol😎
@@thebigz3786 "Sorry I raided your shit and killed your bodyguard by mistake".
@@FaultyStar274 lol I meant I raided his stash before completing pickmans gallery. If only there was a dialogue option for that. It would be hilarious. 😂

Our boy is gay so proud of him
Rick Carter Mel not Bobby
@Rick Carter yeah bobbi is a she, hard to tell when you're a ghoul

@Si Filey everyone throws up a little their first time. Just relax your throat
Kinda unrelated but I love how you can bring Hancock into Diamond City and the guards just say “No ghouls in Diamond City” and walk off, they don’t even enforce their own laws XD, why don’t the ghouls just walk on in?
Also *HANDCOCK* Really Ox?
I think hand cock is more fitting anyway
also "Flynn"...
I love how cool Hancock is, I would have him follow men I'll wear his red coat and I give him my blue general minutemen coat I prefer red lol, and go around raiding super mutants, raider and gunners outposts and kick ass and blow crap up with lots of my homemade grenades 💥💥💥, and loot the their stuff and come back to goodneighbor or diamond city and sell loot, eat some brahmin steaks and Nuka cola, drink some beer from my BUDDY machine and smoke some cigarettes and get high and just kick like ole times having adventures together lol 😎
I think that’s just a game mechanic reason.

I actually played this quest today, and it really frustrated me when Mel kept charging into combat like a psycho with a knife. he is very timid, but as soon as he sees an enemy he becomes a rabid dog. all npcs have this problem, skyrim too. I really wish Beth would make different levels of aggression for npcs, it is so unimmersive lol
Though in Skyrim, there's nothing more amusing than watching an old lady whip out a warhammer and smash a few bandit skulls.
lol or an old lady battling a monstrous dragon with a knife
Martin Prince777 actually there are different levels for aggression for NPCs. If you look it up, there are like 4-5 levels. Foolhardy, Confident/brave, balanced or something, and Cowardly. Mel may be cautious but he isn't timid or weak. I'm sure ppl are like that irl too. Very cautious but fights furiously.
Martin Prince777 DAMN, I had to come back a year later to say....THATS A GOOD ASS POINT. How can we make them commit to it tho
I actually liked that. I just shot Fahrenheit with 2 missiles and let bobbi do the rest then mel gave the finishing blow.

While I liked this quest it bothered me that the feral ghouls attack Bobbi.
Moon Kid What? What do raiders and the soul survivor being both human have to do with anything? In lore feral ghouls don't attack other ghouls.
Gunslinger2580 bobbi's voice is annoying asf and i dont even want to watch thid video
Gunslinger2580 they attack her (or him I'm not sure) because Ferals have their priorities straight, they protect the all loving and kind Hancock (needless to say he's my favorite character)

So killing Fahrenheit is the best option?
You still get a legendary minigun, and Hancock as a Companion just like the side with Hancock ending. But you also get a lot of additional loot from Hancocks storeroom, The Triggermen guarding Fahrenheit, and from Bobbis Estate. Plus you get caps from the job and more caps from Bobbi later.
Clearly siding with Bobbi is more beneficial to the player.
Yes. But it makes me sad to betray hancock. And Bobbi lied to me.
@@leftoverlemons930 It "makes you sad"??? Lol... Perhaps have a feeling of sadness towards actual real life world hunger, innocent deaths that occur by the thousands every day and the lose of morals that mankind has developed.. As for a video game, relax, enjoy and cut down anyone that stands in your way, or even go out of your way and cut down those that stand to the side as well.
My "boomer" response is pure facts, so grow some nuts and enjoy something that doesn't have any real life circumstances
Shawn Branham wtf calm down lol
@@Flawhed i also feel sad for betraying hancock. But why would i feel sad or worry about world hunger or something like that? Hancock is best boy
Hancock is one of my favorite characters, but I see Bobbi's point. He may be charismatic, but even he recognized he'd become corrupted by his position of power and living off tribute, and someone needed to stand up to him. And people got victimized in Goodneighbor all the time, so he wasn't doing a very good job of looking out for the little guy when he had the power to do so. Her lying to you isn't any worse than how Hancock throws you under the bus to get dirty work done. They're both bastards
4:48 nobody: that synth in the background:dootodotodoto such a nice night

how do ghouls do coke ? IDK why I thought of that when I see no nose but it's still a good question
the Prophet Of the pasta gods IDK seems like shoveling it in like coal would be affective
Rolled up pre-war money in their nasal cavity with the other one closed off?
Danielle Hatfield sounds like a good time for the ghouls but can ghouls snort? doesn't really mention it in fallout that much
They breathe, as far as we know, so I'm assuming they can snort. Might be a bit harder, though.
Coke is absorbed through the mucus membranes, there are a few places that have them, eyes, nose, mouth, genitals, & anus. However all of those options seem to be the first to slough off on ghoulification, which is why ghouls use jet or ultrajet... ;-)
By the way Oxhorn, if you're a male character Mel flirts a bit/will be attracted to you(but isn't able to be romanced) He'll say you're not so bad to look at and some other stuff
I would smash bobbi
Bobbi is a she
I know 👌
"Here, a token..." *Hands a huge minigun to you*
I'm usually charitable in my work for people such as when you go look for Ashes, but when it comes to some dirty work I really press for caps.
He doesn't go easy on you because he's lost his edge. He goes easy on you because that's the point of Hancock. He's everything we expect from him, except that occasionally, he's not. He's supposed to represent the organized chaos that is social freedom and the ideals of early American visionaries, and the fact of the matter is, it's not truly chaos if it's predictable. 9 times out of 10, Hancock may repay blood for blood, may knife a guy for showing a lack of respect to him or his people...but then that rare 1 time out of 10, he smiles, backs down, and makes friends with the very one who's wronged him, because it's the right thing to do, or because he just feels like it. If Hancock were truly predictable, were truly exactly as he's meant to be every time...then he wouldn't be Hancock. He wouldn't be a representation of the vibrant, dangerous, thrilling, and slightly mad mix of the ideals of freedom and anarchy that are a core of America's oldest foundations.
I know this is from a year ago, but I just wanted to applaud this comment. You summed up his personality and reasoning perfectly, and all of these things are exactly why he's my favorite character. And why he's perfect for the role of being Mayor of a town like Goodneighbor. Glad someone else understands how that perfectly offset dose of chaos works. Cheers mate.
TLDR
Ok
ok boomer
Exactly why I love him he's my companion always , kicking super mutants, raider and gun runners asses blowing them up with grenades together and looting the place and go back to goodneighbor and get high lol 😎
the inability of the Bethesda to let the player burn bridges is a massive flaw and I wish they wouldn't treat their audience like toddlers in a play pen. the idea that in one play-through a mortal enemy could in another play-through be a close ally is way more compelling and lends more weight to your action. also there is an intense irony in that a design choice meant to give you freedom only results in you robbing you of agency. because no matter what I essentially can not chose to actually make hancock an enemy. I can't chose to get into a fight with him and kill him, hell I'm pretty sure he's an immortal object.
Agreed.
sonicloyalfan why would you want to do that anyway
Mauricio Sanchez Why not? If I was playing a bad guy or just a cold blooded killing machine who kills everyone, I should be able to kill whoever whenever. Not that I would do that normally because that’s not my style. But the option to do as you will in the world of Fallout 4 should be there, and so should the consequences. I think removing the Karma, reputation and overall, the essential elements that made Fallout a rpg is what made this game so mediocre for me.

Louis Yeh I remember when the game first came out. I avoided everything Fallout so I wouldn't spoil anything. So when I played I could discover everything on my own and the USS Constitution was spectacular when first experienced. Just epic. I remember quick saving at the moment the ship takes off so I could keep trying to jump on the ship as it takes off. Another one that I really liked to was at the junkyard with the shipping container that has the secret room that requires you to follow the powerline to power the door. I found this on my own and I felt like I was the first person to find it. Obviously I wasn't but it was just simple discoveries like this that made Fallout 4 an amazing game.
URINE!
I started playing Fallout 4 during the pandemic of 2020/2021. (I know. I'm really late to the game.) But, thanks to my lateness, I'm able to enjoy an area and then watch your videos on it to see if/what I've missed. In playing my play through, I've noticed there is a fourth option for releasing Mel. If you just wait 24 in game hours, he shows up outside the security office. Maybe this has been commented on before, but I don't exactly have the time to read through 2,100 comments. 😆 I love your content and look forward to seeing more videos as I uncover more locations.

inexplicably - prayers have been shown to work, in scientific studies, more than once, in various ways, so saying 'prayer doesnt work' is not accurate. Why and how it works is a very interesting question. I've been interested in this subject ever since the Queensland Premier ended Australia's worst multi year drought in the 2000's by controversially asking everyone to pray for rain. It made the front page of newspapers. In two days, Queensland was flooded. Co-incidence? Sure, but a true story nonetheless from Australia, the country that doesn't fuck about... even when we pray.

For those wondering why there was that synth in diamond city. He sided with the insitute so they send synths like all other factions send there soldiers
I do enjoy the fact that the Big Dig quest directly references the Big Dig project in Boston in real life. The real life Big Dig redirected some of the transportation routes underground and even did restoration on Boston's commuter railway lines, which the game ties with the subway tunnels partway through the quest. I'm sure if you research it, there are probably even more connections between the quest and the real life Big Dig. It's nice touch by Bethesda. Anyway, another great video, Oxhorn.

The BIG DIG was the name of a construction project in Boston. From wikipedia: "The Central Artery/Tunnel Project (CA/T), known unofficially as the Big Dig, was a megaproject in Boston that rerouted the Central Artery of Interstate 93, the chief highway through the heart of the city, into the 3.5-mile (5.6 km) Thomas P. O'Neill Jr. Tunnel. "
When I visited Boston, I was quite amused as the tour guides kept mentioning the Big Dig. :)
Bobby:I need to hide my face in these parts .
Oxhorns mods: not in my game
Hey Oxhorn, this is another awesome video. I love your lore videos, you always find stuff that I missed my first time! I actually just did this quest again, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what, but if you steal the key in the desk in the police station, you can use it to unlock the door without the guards turning hostile. I had to sneak to get the key, but yeah, it did work as another method. It literally changes nothing though, story wise, of course. Still, another easy way to complete the quest if you can't pass the speech checks and didn't want to spend the caps.
For me, the guard opened the door on his own. I was planning on killing him stealthily but before I could he opened the jail cell and ran away. He must've really wanted to stay alive.
The one thing about fallout games, everybody ridicules and threatens you like you're fresh out of the vault and not wearing a full set of X01 power armour and carrying a giant minigun..
fallout 4 in a nutshell : Sarcastic, Sarcastic, Sarcastic, Yes
No, more like:
Sarcastic, Yes, No but actually yes, What?
When I did this mission mel was already out of prison
The way Bobbi says 'noodle shop' makes me laugh every time.
Same 😂
plus I got mell out with a stealth boy.
Soren Harris-Pham yeah that's the best way to do it long as they can't see you ...you can get away without making them hostile.
I killed them all with Power Armor, it was kind of difficult, but I didn't die and I was a low level
i talk them into letting him go.
I picked one of security guards pockets and found the key and then i unlocked the cell and they didnt know anything, be warned tho if you are seen unlocking the cell they will become hostile so either turn invisible or wait until your hidden
Big thanks, i missed terminal in this small room and i was running in loop looking for sth i missed, thanks to you i didn't spend few hours looking for way to progress quest
When I got mel out of jail I couldn't talk to anyone but mel . But he just sat there and the guards had their regular speech blurbs. nothing related to the mission. Then I exited the jail and he was outside and it said I passed the mission.....I was like uh ok. Weird glitch
Also mel reminds me of seth green for some reaosn?? Lol
I got the same thing but nothing abnormal, I just waked in, walked out, and he was outside
28:05, Ashbringer? WRONG GAME. Lol.

SYMBOLISM
8:18 Mel said that he doesn't have friends in this scene, but later, if you kill Bobbi in Hancock's store house, Mel says that one of the few friends he had is dead now, meaning he did consider some people his friends, like Bobbi.
I always feel like meeting all of these people was a missed opportunity. Like meeting Mel again. How cool would it have been if you could put him in a settlement. Meeting those 3 friends burying an old friend. It would have been great to send them to a settlement. How about the little girl and the father, or the girl shop owner and the giant robot. All of these people are missed opportunities to expand your settlement I think.
been trying to meet the girl and the robot then steal her robot
@@triggerfairy4070 that would be so mean lmao
21:16 Mayor Handcock!
At 5:58 why do I see a synth walking around diamond city
I don't know about in this example, but when you've gone far enough siding with the Institute, at some point they decide to basically come out of hiding and make their presence known in DC. Notice it's all Gen 1s. I guess they put up with it for the same reason they do Nick Valentine: they aren't hiding what they are.
At first, when I saw Bobbi I was like "HOLY WHAT IS THAT?!"
