I’m SO glad you included the pen and paper demonstration, very helpful. Thank you ❤️
Yes, loved that part!
I didn't see the pen and paper demo
My bad, the drawing on paper great I was thinking of the signs inside the plant, tell me how you get the writting to stay too identify your plants
Truee. He is the first person i've watched who discussed it thru paper. this is so important for me. lol.
👍🏻 Seconded 🙏
Dear Hollis all you need to do is harvest the outer leaves and stems from your plants and they will continue to put out new stems and leaves from each plant center . When they "bolt" and put out seed heads, save the seeds for your fall/winter crop to be planted when the nearby trees begin dropping their leaves. You'll be able to harvest again until the outer leaves are ruined by cold weather. I love the stems too as a substitute for celery in salads. A new subscriber.
Thanks for the tips!! Welcome to the family 👩🏻🌾👨🌾🐶
@Rebecca ~ Wow, what a great idea to replace chopped celery! 🌱🪴
Thank you for this tip.
I am new and this is a great tip. Thanks
Yes I do the same technique with my collard greens and kale. Last for years.
I love how you illustrated how the sprouts grow long and then you bury it deep. Great illustrations and explanation. I love your channel, I learn so much.
This is such a phenomenal video - thank you for putting together such a comprehensive "how to"!
You are very welcome Lauren ❤️
What?? Nancy makes kimchi out of boc choy!! I love making kimchi but have only made it with cabbage!! I didn't even know you could make it with boc choy!! I would LOVE to see a video of nancy making kimchi with boc choy
Your explanation and illustration at the beginning was really something I needed. I have run into many videos that tell you and show you how they grow theirs but your approach is more effective than others.
Thanks
Well Hallelujah someone that knows how to give good instructions, heck on paper I wasnt expecting, BONUS, and then the whole nine yards. Thank you thank you I live in Florida and my only concern is daggone bugs, but Im going to give this a whirl. Thanks again yall
My Asian wife uses bok choy in a soup after boiling a few beef shank along with quartered potatoes and green beans. The beef shank broth is so good with just the right amount of salt. She boils the white part first in two inch chunks and cuts up the green leafy into much smaller pieces and after adding the green she turns off the heat and wait for about 25 minutes while it simmers Yup good stuff.! Some times I may add a little fish sauce but only if I make the recipe. For some reason when the wife makes it there is no reason to add any thing else. I enjoy your channel. TY.
Thankyou for that recipe.
My White wife will pick the outer row of stems, and leave the plant growing. Every time the outer row or 2 matures I pick them leaving the plant. I do this all summer long harvesting pak choi and the plant just keeps producing & very seldom ever bolts.
I think that's nilaga
Is that a filipino dish? 😂 sounds loke one
Can Miss Nancy show us how she cook your favorite soup ..
I'm impressed by your accuracy when it came to hand tossing handfuls of blood meal into the containers. That was impressive.
It was funny for me. He tells you the amount and when you look for a spoon you see fingers on a hand.
@petersam4182 I know how it feels in my hand from doing it for 62 years. If you are a beginner, measure it out and put it in your hand to see how it feels. After a while you won’t need to measure any longer. You can gauge it by the feel
One of the super healthy veggies you can grow& eat!!! Tastes like mild onion celery, but not as stringy as celery. It’s wonderful to cook, stir fry & eat raw for veggie plate w/dip or salad!👍😍
Thanks for that info. Never tried it before nor knew what to do with it. I am not really into soups. 👍
I never know baby bak choi can grow that big! Love it.
I really appreciate the drawings. It helps so much
Can you give the recipe for the soup please. You make it sound so appetizing.
As far as my opinion is I’ve just gotta say, “Your garden videos are the very best on the internet without a doubt!” I watch several, but yours is the most humane, humbling, honest to goodness & most pleasurable to watch! You both truly bring joy to so many! Thank you & please continue making these videos! Love ❤️ your prayer 🙏at the end! ❣️😍
Wow, thank you! Blessings
Thank you Nancy for having Hollis clarify the depth of the planting! ;)
Thanks Nancy for getting Hollis to show us again about the root and stem and how to plant everything properly.
I like Hollis' video because he keeps it real and simple. No BS.
👍
Thank you for doing this video. Thank you Nancy for having Hollis show us about the thin stem part. That helped me. I love you new Florida homestead💖✝️😁
Very beautiful bok choy. So fresh! Thanks for the detailed information.
The drawings are so helpful!
Thanks for watching! I always do better learning stuff when there are illustrations. I’ll try to do some more of that for ya👍
Had to come back and watch again! I've got seedlings started 😊
Great video demo. Thanks to Nancy for making you explain it over again.
Thank you so much for that grow tip about planting it deeper for support. Amazing video.
You are very welcome ❤️
Maybe you can make another video of your vegetables like the soups she made... farm to table approach
Not tried bok choy in my backyard yet. But how to prepare the seedlings and what type of soil to use? Your newly harvested bok choy is captivating.

I really enjoy your videos, especially since you show start to finish with all the details. This video is very helpful to me. I'm growing bok choy for the second year. Last year they bolted very early so I got an earlier start this year. Best of luck with your gardening. Thanks and stay well!

Wonderful tutorial. God bless you, your garden and God bless America!
Just got seeds and already planted some today. First time. Great video ! ✌
Where did you get your seeds?
@@cherylshannon-ward4185 Homewood garden center in north Raleigh.
Wonderful video! I love that you showed the entire process, with the drawings, and that beautiful finished product! I’m still a pretty inexperienced gardener, and I’m also having the problem of my few-inches-tall seedlings already flowering. 🥺 Do I just pop them off?
Sir, I didn't want your video to end;) very helpful and informative and enjoyable to watch but you made me hungry though haha appreciate what you do!
Love your attitude to food, the greatest motivation for growing this plant. Enjoyed listening to this.
If you have a koi pond and you're taking all your water from there, you'll never have to worry about blood meal products for nitrogen again, believe me 😁
I love your videos and have been following for you both for quite some time to learn more about gardening. I also love that you give all glory to our heavenly Father- God. The Lord's continued blessings to you both in life and harvest.
A most excellent video from start to finish❤
I love your instructions & graphics on your planting. So easy to follow. Thank you
Can we get Nancy to share her soup recipe?
Nancy needs her own cooking channel.
and can we get a video of how it is cooked and prepared after you harvest the bok choy?
Nancy has some cooking videos on our channel now on cooking Bok Choy. She is making several new cooking videos for 2022 release. I am certain you will be well pleased. She is doing an outstanding job on her videos!
Wow, I love this! Not sure I can do this anymore because of arthritis, but I love watching you and your wife grow these beautiful vegetables. You are an excellent teacher, Hollis! I taught for 32 years and I will say that you are one of the best teachers I've seen on CZcams! Nice work! The drawings are extremely helpful, and your instructions are perfect. (debbie)
Thank you Debbie. That is an awesome compliment and really encourages me to keep at it. God bless you🙏
Thanks so much. I just love the drawing. They are very helpful.
Wow, thanks for sharing . I never seen anyone grow such a healthy yummy bok choy 😀 saute with ginger, garlic and a bit of cooking wine, Yum
I think we need a video on how you keep pest from attacking your veggies. they are beautiful!
+Ruslyn Joyce Teague
I will work on that. I use no pesticides at all. I use 100% Cold Pressed Neem Oil
I just discovered Bok Choy because I have digestive issues and bok choy is really good for your digestive system so I have been buying baby bok choy a from the store but it’s a little expensive so I wanted to look into growing it which I’ve never grown anything before , I can’t believe how huge his bok choy came out that’s bigger than the big bok choys at the store ! Great video I hope to try this out one day , thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing Bok Choy. I love soup and my daughters mom got me hooked on it. This is my first time growing it. I cant wait for mine to be big. God Bless you both and your family.
