  • We've been making more progress on our projects, including the restoration on the patina 1953 Chevy 3100 LS-powered Farm Truck. Evan takes the truck for a spin and reviews the driving characteristics of the truck, including details on the modern engine, brakes, steering, and suspension. The ls swap
    This classic truck turns heads everywhere we go. Most people who are into classic cars are surprised to see that this truck has had an ls swap. Automotive enthusiasts everywhere seem to really enjoy this hot rod truck. This old truck is definitely getting some miles on her this summer. A little bit of rust definitely won't slow this truck down. Even though

    Did you swap doors (1947-1950) to remove the window vents or just install the one piece glass? I believe 1951-54 1st generation uses a window vent

    Very cool ride. I am starting to do an almost identical build with a 48 GMC. Did you modify the firewall at all?

    Can you tell us why you went that direction, instead of getting a whole s-10 chassis swap, blessings all the way from Texas

    Lowering springs in the rear or just removed leafs from stock? How much lowered?

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 4 lety

      4 inch drop by installing a lowering leaf spring kit and adding a 2 inch drop spacer.

      Classic Nation thanks! So a total of 4 or 6 in drop? Keep the pickup videos coming. I’ve been following it for awhile now and like the update videos 👍

      @ClassicNation  Před 4 lety +1

      I'd guess a total of 4 inches, even though the suspension kit said it's a 4" drop. Here's the specific kit: www.speedwaymotors.com/TCI-1937-1953-1-2-Ton-Chevy-Pickup-Rear-Leaf-Spring-Kit-3100-Series,47159.html
      And - here's the video showing the install of the 2" blocks to lower the truck even further: czcams.com/video/NNn5i7jQYIU/video.html

    What would it cost me to do a ls swap? I’d have to have a shop to do it. Total price?

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 3 lety +1

      I'd guess between $8k-$15k depending on what you go with.

    What transmission and rear end ratio are you running?

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 3 lety +1

      The rear end is out of a Blazer, with a 3.42 rear end. Transmission is a 4L80e transmission.

    Do you need a new differential for an LS swap?

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 4 lety +1

      I suppose you don't need it, but I recommend it. I pulled a rear end from a junk yard from a blazer. It has the same track width and better gears for the LS.
