Welcome to the reaction/first time watching/commentary of THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS (Pilot) and we experience a trippy, bizarre trip into a game in which Pomni and numerous other characters (Ragatha and Gangle being some of very favs right now) are trapped... forever?! The visuals are beautiful, the music is incredibly sweeping and sophisticated, the atmosphere is so unique, and the worldbuilding and lore at hand has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Loved this pilot so much. In choosing to go through the Exit door, Pomni also chose to abandon Ragatha. I think the guilt of that choice is a large part of why Pomni is cracking so badly in the ending. Being trapped in an existential nightmare might have less of an impact than leaving someone who has been kind to you to suffer. Especially when the thing she chose turned out to not be real.
well, her going through the door and into the void DID end up bringing Caine back to the group, which is what uncorrupted Ragatha.
That silence between Pomni and Ragatha near the end said so so much, I'm really looking forward so much to their dynamic and potentially exporing themes of friendship, solitude, loyalty and more. Yeah, that's what probably Ragatha felt, that sensation really started to sink in while editing this reaction. Thank you! 🙌

The fact she was the only who cares that emo Picasso painting woman got taken says a lot about her.
The thing with Caine and the exit door is like... weirdly actually kinda heartwarming? Like, he knows how badly they all want to leave, but doesn't understand what that actually *means*, and so he tries to make an exit for them. He really does seem to want them to be happy.
Also Ragatha/Pomni appears to be the #1 ship in the fandom so far
I agree! On re-watch, it definitely doesn't feel like he's an antagonist. Hahaha I can see why, though I'd prefer if they only stayed friends!

I have the theory that the perfomers represent different personality disorders. Anxiety(pomni), fear(kingler), selfishness(jax), anger(kaufmo), etc. What if the headset was a technology that was supposed to help cure ppl of their debilitating personality disorders. Strap it on and instantly feel relief from your crippling issue. BUT what if the tech takes those negative aspects of your mind away and dumps them into the circus? That's why they have no memory. Also it would lend itself to making the existential horror even worse because even with a route back to the real world, they've nowhere to go. 😱🙂
Interesting things I've spotted.
* Before the introduction song Caine mentioned "paraphernalia" that "we" would be seeing. That implies objects/items/things and yet what we end up watching is the trapped performers...
* When Caines watch detected a player in the Void, he said "oh no, they'll be *spoiled*". That's a word used for perishable goods/food/products.....
* When Jax said "she still thinks it's a dream", he was not talking to Ragatha. He was breaking the forth wall and talking to us....
* The adventures aren't dangerous, but Kaufmo's abstracted form was as Zoobuls fate barely bothered them but Kaufmo's was seen as a real danger. Re- Jax's reaction to the adventure compared to Kaufmo.
*Caine isnt all-seeing because he had no idea what was going on to his circus or players, even abstraction, until Pomni entered the void. Then he still didnt know himself, his wacky watch alarm had to alert him.
*Caine barely knows anything about the real world.... " *Drown* in the digital Lake,..... *ridery* at the digital fair" hint at that. If that's so how did he know what offices in the real world looks like? Maybe through the cameras in the place where the headset and computer are sitting? That also explains why the exit maze has "A" computer office room but is not "THE" computer office room. I dont think they are the same because Caine's had no windows or natural light but the one we come out of at the end has natural light streaming across the wall.
* Other than the final corridor connected to the void the Exit Maze was totally stable, until Pomni's extreme reaction to the computer and headset started causing the lights to flicker on and off.... why then? 🤔

The music for this show is TOP TIER, especially the music played at the end. I feel like this show has A LOT to offer. I can't wait.
This was amazing, really! My favorites are Ragatha and Kinger ! I have a feeling we're probably going to get an explanation to how other characters ended up in TADC as well. I've also seen everywhere, "Pomni" means "remember" if I can recall, it's so eerie to me lmfao.
Seeing from Pomni's facial expressions, the end where she slowly smiles is probably her realizing she'll never get home again. This is where she'll stay. And that's a lot of trauma to go through, actually. I love how other characters act through out the episode, and how they deal with the whole 'I cant get out of here so I'll just live with this' situation. Zooble doesn't bother to do anything that has to do with Caine's activities. Jax really just doesn't care, Kinger is.. something, Ragatha kinda seems like she tries not to think of it or make it a big deal.
From an angle, it could seem like they display the stages of grief. And also, a few people kind of crave for the same thing: a sense of identity or significance and a reason to being alive. It's mentioned a lot (and even in the theme, with the looping "day after day" & "and we don't know why!", these characters just accept that they're in this world, and don't understand why they have any point or reason to exist.) This is called "Extensional depression" and it could be what they're going through.
Another thing is, I feel like a major twist in this would be that Caine isn't a villain. He's just a guy, he said himself that he didn't know what to put at the end of the exist but knows how everyone wanted one so badly. I'm not sure if Caine is an AI or an actual player and lost his memory of the real world, but it seems that he doesn't want to put damage on anyone, and wants to help them leave, but just doesn't know how the real world works or looks.
Caine isn't evil or a villain, he's just a rogue AI that doesn't understand humans well, the creator herself, Gooseworx confirmed this when asked, and honestly he just seems to be doing his best to find ways to distract the humans trapped there so that they don't go crazy.

@@FunkyVyou're welcome, and yeah, Kaufmo seems to have become hyperfixated on trying to find an exit that doesn't exist, a theory I have is the following, as said they don't need to eat, sleep or anything like that, this means they are missing crucial components in everyday life, if they don't need to eat then they don't have meal times, if they don't need to sleep then the days seem to have no beginning or end, this in the long term can be really harmful to their sanity, that's why they must have created the rooms exactly to separate a period of the day for everyone to stay apart and practically pretend to sleep or at least rest, Kaufmo probably ignored this and focused on using all his time on finding the exit and well... we saw what happened, I loved TADC, the idea of people trapped in an isolated place with no way out with designated rooms for each one reminded me a lot of the first Danganronpa game (which I love too), very excited to see the future of the series.

Oh totally, I'm expecting more lore for sure! Kinger is so funny too, they really nailed the character introductions here. Ohhhh I did not know at all that Pomni had a meaning and it was THAT, that's eerie indeed lol!
Gosh, that last scene with Pomni is the real highligh for me, felt truly cinematic and powerful.
That's a great take actually, I wonder how emotional and vulnerable these characters can get, even ones like Zooble or Jax that seem more emotionally disconnected than the rest. Fascinating!

THis is an amazing show! It's creepy, it's funny, it's emotional. The quality of this pilot is superb. THe characters are diverse not only visually but also the personality is distinctive. Me too I love Pomni and Ragatha. I think they will have a certain deep development between each other in the future episodes. My theories are all over the place so far. But my theory that I mostly incline myself into is that this show is a commentary on how our society started to be trapped in the digital world hungry for mindless entertainment (circus). In the advent of virtual worlds where you create your own avatar and interact with various people online such as Metaverse, Roblox, MMORPG games with co-op style game play, Minecraft, etc, we are spending more time in the digital world than the actual real world and this is some sort of "cautionary tale". I can't wait to see more of it. I'm so hooked!

Mindless entertainment, that's pretty interesting, I'm also thinking about how much agency these characters will have or be willing to lose by the fact that it seems like there's no escape at all. Therefore making Pomni and the rest feel like mindless souls and losing their humanity, as if they become one with the AI and that difference between humanity and NPCs to speak becomes blurry. you should totally watch both gooseworx (she does animations too) and kevin temmer's works!! Gooseworx gives a bit of minor context (the game show kinger mentioned), and they both add depth and richness to the character designs and animation techniques used :)

How in the world would that look like to everyone outside the circus? Would they be able to monitor what's happening inside the game while you're there or not? I love ur reactions and has been watching them for quite some time now. And I know u usually don't do live action stuff (and I don't want u to), but I really want u to check out 2 ukrainian movies. 1 is called Luxembourg Luxembourg and is a story abt 2 brothers who r kind of opposites of each other but also mirror each other and embark on a journey to search for their father. The other is called Pamfir and is abt a man who comes back from earning money in a foreign land to his home village and is forced to go back to crime.
