Come on guys, we didn't need that red card.
From what I see in the !st half, this U-23 Team is terrible. They can't string passes together, no ball control.
Most of these boys are former U-17 sets of 2013&2015 World Champions. It's supposed to be a star studded team, their poor play thus far looks like a poor coaching job.
Coach Imama is a 1985-89 former U-17 & U-20 player (goal-keeper) in his young days.
To be fair, the team only got one day of training, which was yesterday on Tuesday, March 19.
@@xisvvcx4065 Probably because the coaches are relying on foreign based players for the campaign and if that's the case they won't make it to AFCON.
prior to the 2012 London Olympics, Austin Eguavoen built a solid team around mostly foreign based players and they demolished opponents to reach AFCON U-23. The came his dilemma, as AFCON started, European clubs did't release their players because it wasn't FIFA calender. So, Eguavoen had to resort to home based players most of whom didn't make his 1st eleven. they went to AFCON and flopped, that was how we missed London olympics.
when Siasia was picked for 2014 Olympic U-23 team, he started by selecting home based as the core of the team, he built his team steadily with local players and few foreign based players hence as they qualified for AFCON, he wasn't affected by absence of foreign based players and his won AFCON-23. But in olympics team he then had privilege of introducing experienced foreign based players most of whom were not able to play in the qualifiers and we saw the result as they won Bronze despite all the drammer of their camping in U.S and late arrival in Brazil.
If Coach Imama can't learn from these 2 prev experiences, his team doomed!
@@Ayee1998 You make a lot of good points but Coach Imama did call up a lot of home-based players and they ended up having age discrepancies and being sent home. There's a lot of work that needs to be done internally in Nigerian football.
