Cried at the end. My husband was born in Ebbw and moved to Sheffield, fortunately for me as that's where I met and fell in love with him. Similar thing then happened in South Yorkshire. Sad very sad 😔
my Grandfather work there for 50 years got a gold tie pin for it. Only lived 2 or 3 years after retirement at 65 back in the very early 70s lot of good the tie pin was. All them years for your health bloody hard work.
Very informative and enjoyable. I spent a few years working in the Ebbw vale steelworks in the early 1970s brings back lots of memories.

my Father Denis Compton was a fitter working in in EBBW steel works in 1936
I worked there in the boiler house , fond memories ..

My uncle worked there in the steel works back in the 60/70's, though he died in 1976
