- This is another clip from the fourth season premiere, S04E01, where Summer has trouble coping with Marissa's death and delves into her environmental thing, and Ryan finally visits Marissa's grave to take on the task that Julie give him of finding Volchok to get revenge. Can't stop watching!! All time favorite series
MOST DEFINITELY ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS OF ALL TIME! I MUST SAY THAT IN THE BEGINNING I WASN'T INTERESTED IN THE SHOW...BUT IT ENDED UP BEING A BIG PART OF MY LIFE! IT TURNED ME ONTO TONS OF MUSIC AS WELL. SO I'M VERY THANKFUL THAT JOSH SHWARTZ CREATED IT AND I GOT A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE IT!!
Summer hallucinating about Marissa being in the other room and not being able to take it in that she's really gone heartbreaking. They were best friends nearly their entire life.
Also Julie's grief was seriously well done. No parent should to go through the feeling of visiting their child's grave.

Back in 2003-2007 Most of the audience that watched the O.C was probably between 13-20 during those years our emotions are more intense and we conect to T.V shows and Games, or other situations in a stronger way, now that we are adults we technically see things differently and less dramatically, so the experience we had watching the OC won't be matched by other show unless is one that really conects you with it, so far for me I dont watch anything else because these days nothing fills me

I miss the OC so much - I think it definitely set a precedent for having AMAZING music so prominently featured on a show! I LOVE Keane, and this is my favorite song by them - it makes me want to cry when it's put in the context of what's happening with everyone in this scene.
Thanks so much for posting these music moments - they make me SO nostalgic for The OC, but at least I can see I'm DEFINITELY not alone :)

i feel horrible for ryan. he has been and always will be in love w/ her! (and yeah i know its just a show) even at the end of the series, he looks back as hes driving away and sees marissa standing in the driveway just like before. oh god, how i miss ms cooper :'(
I hate saying it but I still don’t think he was ever in love with her- I just think he wished she would have been alive for good things in life to happen for her. He wished he could have saved her. He was smart enough to know he couldn’t have but just needed to get away from all the memories. Ryan was, always, trying to work things out in his life and to keep getting better.

I own seasons 1-3 on DVD and purposely won't buy season 4 because it just wasn't the O.C. without Marissa. I remember walking thru the halls the day after the season 3 finale aired and everybody popular or not had seen it and we all said the same thing. Marissa can't be dead she's the show it will die without her. Sad that a group of 15/16 year olds predicted the end of such an amazing show I mean everybody was watching this.
barton didn't wanna keep playing marissa. that's why the killed her off.
Yeah but I think her mistake was choosing to be killed off and having no chance of coming back when they offered her the opportunity of her character to just leave with the option to come back if she wanted kind of like the One Tree Hill situation where Lucas left but then came back in the series.
***** I have seen all four seasons, I actually saw them all as they aired 10 years ago. But we all have our favorite seasons of TV shows. Why wouldn't I want to go back and watch a TV show that was well written, fast paced real, drama filled, and actually had good music to go along with it?
The first 3 episodes of season 4 are actually some of the best, much better than the depression fest of season 3.

hi this serie with or without marissa was very good, and please dont say when marissa died the serie die too. You forget the serie was about a guy whos doesn´t have nothing to live, and then he goes to another world , with a very good and happy family ( cohens ) and he have such a good friends. I just love o.c with and without marissa. I serious want this serie back. Its my favourite of all times

i love gossip girl but it's nowhere near as good as the oc. it was realistic, there wasn't a new drama every week, and the drama there was had a proper storyline like real life. and it was just everything a tv series should be :')

I think most people are forgeting that even if she lived, Marissa would be with her dad on the boat for a year so she probably wouldn't have been in season 4 anyway. but if there was a fifth season then maybe if she lived she'd be back.

@jab070 I totally agree. The other shows just have drama thrown in but it's not done correctly like the O.C. And it definelty does not have the music that the O.C. has.

Season 4 excepting the first 2 or 3 episodes is the LEAST depressing and funniest mostly b/c of Taylor Townsend. I really think it's the best because dark and depressing is what you would expect, but they made it really mostly joyous.

I couldn't watch it till the end till today. After Marissa died, I just got really sad about it.
But, maybe, someday I'll get over it by watching it till the end.

i'll never forgive the writers for killing her off! as soon as she died, the whole show just died and for all we know they could be up to their 10th season by now if the just didn't kill her off!
