"Cheech" Marin is the driver. Nicknamed Creech because a family member said he resembled chichanone, Spanish for a popular food made from pork bellies .Tommy Chong is the passenger. Glad you enjoyed this!
You meant Nicknamed "Cheech" and it's a "chicharron" not what you spelled.
How did Cheech not get an oscar for best leading man just on that scene?
Chicharones plural @@allupinya5938
I remember seeing this in the movie theater stoned out my mind. My stomach hurt for a week from laughing 😂😂😂
The first scene with Strother Martin as Chongs dad is classic.
I remember when this movie was new. Several years before, I'd started listening to Cheech and Chong albums, so when the movie came out it was really cool to see them on the big screen.
Daves not here man.
Dave's not here,,,, hahaha hahaha I seen this at a drive-in in 78 when it came out, along with sneaking friends in in the truck of the car
Sister Mary Elephant! I gotta make a doodoo alright!?
@@MoMoMyPup10 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can't remember the albums I'm only 38 but that's besides the point; DAVES NOT HERE MAN.
I saw them live in Long Beach, CA in 70's...frigging hilarious!!! They have comedy albums, which were hysterical!!!😅😅😂😃😄😅
Saw this in 1978 for my 20th birthday. Went to the drive in and it was packed to the rafters. I think every car there was smoke filled that you couldn’t see through the windows lol. The 70s ruled! 🤘
The whole movie is awesome!!!
I saw it in the movie theater about 12 times when it came out and many more since!😂😅😂 My bf and I knew the whole movie by heart. I got most of their comedy albums when they came out when i was a kid!!! 😂😅😂
One of the BEST scenes EVER
This movie came out in 1978, Cheech & Chong had already been a huge stand-up comedy act since 1971. “Up In Smoke” was one of those movies that it seemed like everyone went to see. Even my grandparents went to see it and they loved it. I first saw it when I was 11 and it was beyond belief. You guys need to see the entire movie, it’s just non-stop funny. There is a female tv news reporter named Suzuki Kawasaki. Nuns get arrested for drugs. A van made out of weed. A nasty cop out to nail Cheech & Chong who gets seriously abused. A battle of the bands contest. A woman who snorts Ajax powder cleanser. Cheech & Chong made several movies, but this one was the best.
A generation defining masterpiece.
You guys have to watch the entire movie. Cheech. was the driver. Chong was the passenger. It's freaking hilarious.
I saw this in the theater in 1978. Everybody was smoking pot. In those days movie theaters still had ash trays built into the arm rests. This was the first Cheech and Chong movie, but I had heard their comedy albums already. They were in the so-called "underground" comedy scene...
Sister Mary Elephant! I gotta make a doodoo alright!?
I'm old so when this when this came out i was at the perfect age to really enjoy it, we almost peed our pants watching this! It's still makes me laugh 😂😂
I was 19 when this movie came out. I lived in SD Cal.
well before than we were listening to their comedy albums, and chong was the passenger. so glad after years of them being split that today we get to see them together again,
Up in smoke rocked so hard, even at the end when they entered the battle of the bands 🤟😎
The joke back in the day was you can drive cars with chain link steering wheels with handcuffs.
,the 70's??? was lots of fun.
there movies were the go to in the 70s seen them all
When I was in High School My BFF and I worked in a movie theater. Every night we would turn the volume down in the projection
booth and one night I would be Cheech and he would be Chong. The next night we would switch parts. We knew every line in this
movie. All we knew about the movie is there was a giant joint in it. We didn't know how big it was but in order to sell the movie
we found a 4 ft. imitation Christmas tree in the attic of the theater. We wrapped it into a huge joint and wrote Up In Smoke on it
and walked back and forth in front of the place. It was February so it was cold as hell but it was fun anyway.
A few fun things to know about this.
1. This is the only C&C movie NOT directed by Tommy Chong
2. The dog that stole the hotdog was a stray and not an actor. Since it worked they kept it in the film.
3. The entire time (in this movie) neither of them got loaded at all. However, in the booth we were.😎😎
Too bad you didn't do the whole thing.
I easily remember in '78, '79 and '80 going to the drive in with several cars and drivers, all parked side by side and passing joints and munchies back and forth all night watching Up in Smoke. I walked away from all drugs in '81 but damn the '70s were a blast. LMAO
There's a moment during the pulled over scene where Tommy Chong almost breaks character. It happens when Cheech tells the officer "I just thought of something real funny....your mama!". If you watch Chong, he clenches up and buries his face as to not be seen laughing. When he does look up you can see in his eyes he's still trying to hold it together.
Yous had me Laughing watching your reaction, Brings back Memories
The first real comedians I heard, got the album Big Bamboo the album came with a real rolling paper the size of the album cover that's where that giant joint came from. any ways me and my friend used to reinact some of their routines. I sending the links to some of their funny routines . should watch the whole movie up in smoke then their next movie call next then nice dreams. but the links below are from 1st couple albums.
I still have it!
Yes, their first movie.
Back when this movie came out, they also released an album that came with rolling papers that size, took a lot to roll one
They released an album back then called "Big Bamboo" which included a giant piece of rolling paper - like a 2-3 oz. joint! lol
There first album came with a huge rolling paper that could make a joint that large.
The paper for that joint came in their album "Big Bamboo" and I smoked several of them
Great choice.
" Keep on knocking, but you can't come in " 😂🤣 it's been 9 years ago I spent his, but it never gets old because im still laughing 😂❤😂😂
It really was like that in the 70's. It's true.
This movies are classic! grew up watching in the theater .😂
Hysterical 😭
Imagine you're in the theater full of Stoners and Smoke and everybody is laughing their POO POO off. This movie set a whole new standard for comedy.
Yeah we went to see the movie in the theater on orange sunshine
Stacy as sgt studenko is hilarious
One of the best. My dad who was hard to make laugh loved this movie.
I was hoping you'd play the next scene at their arraignment.
His front plat reads muff diver lol
SAW THEM LIVE!!!!👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
This was from the late '70s. Cheech & Chong's "Nice Dreams" is another great movie.
The soundtrack came with a a CC sheet of rolling paper the size of the record sleeve
It's more fun to watch this movie when you're blazed
Saw it in the theatres.
Most anyone old enough to have lived through this time can relate, the 60's and 70's were a stone out. We could buy four finger oz's of Mexican for $15.00 dollars and a gram of coke was $125.00.
I hope you seen the whole movie. The scene after that clip was funny too
I love watching this movies when IAM stone AF we need more
Most famous line"DAVE'S NOT HOME!!!"
Dave's not Here.
The albums were great, especially Sister Mary Elephant!
"Santana"... "Led Zeppelin".... they know the good stuff that goes best with their good stuff.... "Labrador"
They had rolling papers in one of thier albums
Classic Cheech and Chong
You use to get papers like that in record albums
If you like this the you will love the scene with the Cal. grow facility when a tarp is painted as a pool.
The thing about LSD is that you do laugh 😂 your ass off for like the first half hour, anything and everything is hilarious. I thought my guts were going to rip apart.
Hi, one must put on an album, headphones, and your imagination. Good stuff
"The Love Machine".... This car is Movie Legend. 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS coupe. The film cost less than $1 million to make and hauled in $44 million at the box office. That’s a lot of hash-er, cash. Pedro’s “Love Machine” also carries a personalized California license plate that’s a little on the obscene side (you’ll have to check it out for yourself). “It was a day in the life of Cheech and Chong, or Pedro and Man, which was much more interesting than a plot,” Marin told Rolling Stone. “It’s ‘two guys meet, they decide to form a band together, but first they need a joint.’ Therein lies your plot.”
TIDE STICK?! decades later we had kids literally eating Tide.
You should react to the entire movie!
Straight up I almost got in a serious physical fight because I used the term "let's get Chinese eyes" and there happened to be an Asian friend of ours there who, lucky me, NEVER saw the movie and they didn't believe me at first but I showed them that scene and they were like Oh damn my bad lol
...and you call yourselves Canadian? lol Tommy Chong, the guy with the drugs, is yet another great Canadian comedic export. He was born in Edmonton. He and his family later moved to Calgary, when he was still a kid. He also played lead guitar in the group, "Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers"
That’s along PCH near Malibu. That steering wheel was popular with the Low Riders in the late 60s and the 70s
WE HITCHIKED HOME FROM COLORADO RIVER, GOT RIDE IN VW WITH TWO STONERS. WE GOT PULLED OVER, THEY ATE ALL THEIR DRUGS (A LOT!!!) BUSTED FOR STEALING A COW OFF A DAIRY!!!! THEY WENT TO JAIL, COPS LEFT US ON HIGHWAY!!!👍👍👎👎😵😵
"Yeew just ate the most acid I've ever seen anybody eat in my life... Jeez, I hope you're not busy for about a month."
CHEECH MARIN DRIVING...TOMMY CHONG PASSENGER!!! TOMMY CHONG'S DAUGHTER IS ACTRESS❤❤❤❤
This is the one and only classic stoner flick
My brothers liked the reaction, first time I see someone actually letting us see most of the movie clips. Continue doing it and I will continue watching you guys and giving it a ❤ for your channel, Thnx and take care.
You need to watch the whole movie
i was 14 when this movie came out we went to the driv-in to see it everyone was sitting on there cars smokin a J -- the record came out and in it was a huge rolling paper i put a pond of weed in it and wenr-t to see ZZ-TOP and the rollin stones it was the same size of the one they rolled
Cheech Marin was the Driver. Tommy Chong was the passenger
How did Cheech not get an oscar for best leading man just on that scene?
These days no one remembers the batch of cannabis that turned people into iguanas. Mariguanas lol.
Simpler time. And comedy records you would sit down and listen to.
Say man whats my two next door Chicano neighbors doing on your show bro? lol
was not the hippy gen, the hippies were in the mid to early 70s, this was late 70s my era, I graduated in 77 so this was my teen years, KISS Army forever
Rolling Hot Box 🥴
The boy with the Black shirt Kind of look like Mark Zuckerberg
and watch the court case outcome from the arrest
i had some great TRIPS mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
You need to watch the whole movie, shame they cut the scene when they did theres a great courtroom scene after this scene.
Tommy Chong has been advocate for legal weed for decades!!!!
Where y'all at man. Post some more vids. Check out more Cheech and Chong.
You missed their license plate. MUF DVR. Chong with the beard. Cheech driving. Back in the day they had a comedy album Big Bamboo that looked just like BigBamboo rolling paper. It came wil a large rolling paper inside the jacket. Same as what he was smoking.
This is post hippie era…mid to late 1970s
A couple of Canadians pick a stoner comedy and it's NOT a Trailer Park Boys episode or movie? You're letting me down, guys! Okay, not really - Tommy Chong is Canadian, so I guess that's good enough. For Cheech and Chong movies, I remember 1987's "Born in East LA." It was way ahead of its time in that it was heavy on the social commentary relating to "illegal immigration." Hilarious stuff.
We've already seen every episode of TPB!
You should watch up in smoke. It's funny as shit
The original Beavis and Butt=head...two guys also before your time.
Before the world lost its sense of humour and became uptight about everything
Notice the license plate? MUF DVR
Some of us lived through this
Tommy Chong has the beard
Yeah.................
This movie can't be reacted to in 12 minutes.
Cultural Trivia.... You must know their names, or be Lame forever......An unemployed pot-smoking slacker and amateur drummer, "Anthony Stoner" (Tommy Chong) ditches his strict parents and hits the road, eventually meeting kindred spirit "Pedro de Pacas" (Cheech Marin). Now you are one of the all knowing.... "Kinda Grabs You By The Poo Poo Don't It"
trivia question: how many times is "man" said in this movie?
Hundreds man.
I like the scene at the welfare office.
I knew two guys eat all their drugs and spent time in jail high as kites!!!!
Despite being Mexican American Cheech is not fluent in Spanish....
